On my first day of placement 1 in first year, my nerves were wrecked! I saw another student nurse and thought "please tell me you're first year in the same place as me". So I ask her and she laughs and says "No, I'm on my first day of my last placement". I remember thinking how exciting it would be to be a final year who knows it all and wears red lapels or whatever you call them. So I haven't been good lately. Literally the only thing stopping me from jumping off the planet was the thought of how much it would destroy my loved ones. I stayed in bed until 4.15, then went to work at 4.30 trying to maintain a composed face and stop my hands shaking as I served customers and overall tried to hold it together. I was tearful and passed that off as back pain (another story entirely) when my co-worker realised someone left their takeaway pizza express box at the counter! We called him back and he didn't come, so we set it aside until we could decide what to do with it. Once the shop quietened down, I decided that I would bin it - who wants someone's leftovers?? But something told me to open that box. So I did. A fresh, untouched lasagna (my favourite food) sat right infront of me and I thought "this is a sign". At the end of the shift, the guy never came back to claim it so my co-worker told me to take it, naturally I would never refuse free food so I did. I got home and slumped in my chair as I waited on it to reheat. Not only was it THE CHEESIEST lasagna I've ever seen, but on first cut I realise... This isn't an ordinary lasagna - the pasta sheets were stuffed with ravioli! Words cannot describe how such a little thing made me feel. I genuinely believe this was some sort of sign from whatever God there is; "hey, Lou, don't be sad - have a Lasagna" And so now I lay in bed, tummy full and a little less sad. Goodnight xx
