yes.

But tbh I don't think the primary attraction between Bill & Ford is physical. I think it's, first and foremost, intellectual: they like talking, they each like how the other thinks, and (to paraphrase the quote from Alex as best as I can remember without looking it up) they made each other feel important, and that made them important to each other.

The fact that Bill's got an unexplored hand kink is beside the point.

Happy Month of May-bel! The prompt was "your pick" so I picked something... incredibly obvious to anyone who knows me 😅 Anyway, Mabel is obviously the best character in Gravity Falls because she is a Ghibli kid. sorry i don't make the rules.

She was already my favorite when I got back into Gravity Falls, but then i read this in Journal 3 and I knew we were kindred spirits:

Like has she seen the ones that are generally considered cuter, like Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, MORE than 82 times? After years of meaning to read it but never seeming to have the time, I finally started reading "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. I've been told by countless people that this book is the ultimate handbook on how to talk to and deal with people.

I'm not far in, but so far it's been pretty interesting and insightful. This book is almost 100 years old but so far everything I've read seems to still hold up today.

I've had a few people message me asking about more resources on how to improve their social skills. There's always r/etiquette (I don't even have a reddit but I find myself lurking) but, if you're looking to read something to help brush up on your social skills, I can so far recommend "How To Wind Friends and Influence People"

Although, take my recommendation with a grain of salt because I haven't finished it yet. But I tried looking up if there was any criticism for it and had a hard time finding any. It is slightly more focused on social skills for a business setting, but honestly those skills can transfer to just about any social setting. (such as presenting your views and opinions to people in a way that doesn't make people feel attacked, and generally making people feel comfortable and at ease around you)

If there was one book I would suggest to everyone on here, Twitter (or X or whatever) and everywhere else on the internet where people lash out at strangers for no reason, it would be this book.

Because one concept it keeps returning to is that people do not like people who lash out at them, people who criticize them, people who scold them. People also do not listen to people who lash out at them, criticize them, and scold them. If you want people to like you, and people to actually listen to you, you should start by not doing that.

So, Jerk Ford. What would happen if he was given truth serum and pressed for his real thoughts? I'm guessing there would be exactly zero change except maybe with Stanley

Jerk Ford is not necessarily a liar, that's his brother Stan.

He will re-word or re-frame things to make a different point, he will ommit information, but he will not straight up lie. Lies by ommission? Plenty.

Lying to himself? Even worse. His genius brains ability to gaslight itself is so strong that he has an insane pain tolerance despite his nervous system being completely intact.

Chronic pain causes brain shrinkage, and to avoid that his unconscious mind convinced his conscious mind that there is no pain. Because of his constant, terrible pain he was in while in the multiverse, especially before he perfected his Regenerative Serum. He does not literally lack the ability to feel pain; his brain just refuses to acknowledge / process pain signals from his nerves.

But yeah he'll tactically avoid confessions under a truth serum by using non-lies and flowery, deceptive language. He is known for his wit after all (among other things).

As for the existence of a 'Jerk Version' of everyone else-

Any given trait across the multiverse is on a scale. Even if most Stanford Pines variants are geniuses, you get versions who aren't as smart, who are even more smart, or their intelligence is in fields other than science.

And its the same for any other trait - a scale where there's always one at both extremes.

The kindest, the least kind. The most Filbrick-like, the most removed from Filbrick as possible, the tallest vs the shortest, ect. The frame of reference is Canon Ford, who is at the epicenter of all of these scales and ranges.

Jerk Ford is not different from Canon Ford because his dimension is at the extreme jerk end of the jerkiness scale - his Dimension is different from canon because he is at the extreme jerk end of jerkiness for Stanford Pines variants.

There is a Jerk Dimension with it's own version of Stanford Pines - but it's not a dimension full of jerks, it's just the only dimension where beef jerky isn't expensive.

(That Ford does get mixed up with his more infamous counterpart, however).
