Wind Breaker has always made a point of showing us how important it is to share meals as a way of fostering relationships.
So I think it's absolutely no coincidence that at a time like this, when Sakura is feeling rejected by Suo (who, in the dream, literally turns his back on him,)
the person who comes to cook for him is Momijikawa. Momijikawa, who initially rejected Sakura for being an outsider. Again, literally turned his back on him:
And what does he make for Sakura? Omelette rice. We know this matters because it's Sakura's favorite and he once asked Momijikawa if he knew how to make it,
but I'm also struck by the special importance of that particular dish being the very first thing we saw him eat, He was still an outsider, but Kotoha accepted him as part of the town.
The person who once rejected Sakura as an outsider is now showing his acceptance and care through making the acceptance meal, at a time where Sakura needs it most.
did you know the cops once found a fully functioning movie theater with a well-stocked bar inside the catacombs and they when they tried to go back later to formally investigate it was completely emptied out save for a note that read "don't search for us"
my little bro is part of the catacombs community and yeah, it's basically a fully autonomous society! enough that when my bro goes in on a friday night, they don't come out until monday for work- sometimes longer if they took days off.
some of the rooms have fully stocked pantries with cooking equipment, some have movies like the one described above, some have books you're allowed to just take but people always put back- every day people bring things from the outside. artists often set up galleries there. there are rooms with mattresses and hammocks set up for people to sleep. one of the room is just a place where people leave shoes for the fun of it.
this is Known, it's not a secret by any means. the catacombs are as big as paris itself, and people live there just as people live above. it's wonderful when you think about it.
This weekâs Featured Article is all about the Fairy Tale AUâfanworks that take characters and put them in situations and/or settings from fairy tales! Since fairy tales are often universal and well-known, these AUs are popular across fandoms.
Tropes and elements often seen in fairy tale AUs include magic, curses, True Loveâs Kiss, and Fairy Godmothers. Princes and princesses, and a Happily Ever After ending, are also common. AUs can incorporate the original fairy tale in a variety of ways, from merely invoking the atmosphere, to using a few elements or tropes, to a full retelling. Some AUs will take the original fairy tale and explore darker themes and topics than typically expected of a fairy tale AU. These are not full trope subversions, because they usually still end happily, but they definitely take a darker perspective on the tale.
Do you enjoy fairy tale AUs? Let us know in the comments!

I'm so excited to see Momiji, Nirei and Sugi go see Sakura.
Some points I wanted to bring up while I'm on breakfast break (from writing the thesis):
- I like the idea that Sakura could have gone to Bankoku-Gai but I don't think that's going to be it, mainly because I think he's still processing the complicated emotions he's feeling and because with how tired he had been looking it is likely he got sick again like after keel. The other part is that I think the 3 people chosen for the conversation are going to be key in helping Sakura out, and the best part is none of them are going to discourage him from finding Suo and talking to him, in fact, they're going to encourage him to do so.
- I still think Sugi might know something we don't that he just put together, something cryptic or just strange-sounding in the moment that clearly Sugi hadn't given much thought to.
- I think part of the beach conversation with Sugi and why Suo was glad he got along with Nirei is because Suo knew when/if he left Sugi and Nirei would actually work together, seeing how they managed to help out Sakura during his face off with Endo and then them getting closer must have told him he could count on them to keep Sakura going.
I don't think Suo thought of Sugi as a possible vice-captain substitute for him, per se, but he knew he'd fill in a spot he left, with a different approach but effective for Sakura.
Suo trusted that his friends would be able to help Sakura out in his absence, I've said before that I think part of the reason he chose Nirei, aside from not being able to tell Sakura because he wouldn't have been able to handle Sakura's hurt (I think Suo was a kid abandoned at the dojo and that's why he understands that abandonment wound that Sakura has so well), and because in a way he was testing Nirei's resolve to fight for Sakura, even if It was against his friend, fellow vice-captain and "mentor"... (Still defending it started as an emotion-led action)
If we get Suo's pov again, or if we do a combination, I would love to see a bit of the corruption or big issue they have going on. I'd honestly like to See Suo's pov when he's fully alone, we haven't got him in a moment where he can let the mask fully fall, closest we came to was the end of 211 and he was suffering, I know next time we get a pov of him on his own it's going to be devastating.
Nii-sensei really said âhappy pride monthâ and slapped us with SuoSaku hanahaki au where Sakura is restrained by Chinese redbuds (Suoâs flower representation) and unable to reach Suo, who wonât listen to his pleas.
Chinese redbuds also mean âbetrayalâ in flower language, btw.
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or donât pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Worried about what to say?
Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. You will also get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.
Money issues?
Trans Solidarity Alliance provides a travel bursary that you can sign up for via the link.
Got a refusal or no response from your MP?Â
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if theyâre already in Parliament. Even if they donât, theyâre made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations canât provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, menâs rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If youâre a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from womenâs bathrooms if youâre perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a âthird spaceâ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).Â
A womenâs only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of âlesbianâ, and therefore no longer have legal protections if theyâre discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).
Here is the Good Law Project's better explanation of the EHRC Code.
I have also made a PDF printout of QR codes for the government petition, email your MP tool, and mass lobby link to pass around your communities. DM me and I'll send it to you.
It's important to have at least two blorbos that fit into specific roles in your life
The blorbo you can look to in hard times, and ask yourself what they would do in a situation, and draw motivation from them on how to be better and stronger!
The blorbo you can look to in hard times, and remind yourself that no matter what happens, you probably aren't going to fuck your shit up as much as they did even if you actively tried
say what you will abt how the story is presenting sakunireiâs feelings about suoâs disapperance but i think that allowing nirei to be angry/assertive and sakura to be miserable is so fucking good because it directly subverts how sakunirei act at a surface level
The prince has been cursed, forcing him to live the rest of his life as a woman. At least that's the story the royal family is going with, because apparently an "unbreakable genderswap curse" is (sadly) much more acceptable than the princess being trans.
the number 1 rule of fanfic is have fun and be yourself. the number 2 rule is the average healthy adult male can lose roughly 2 liters of blood before dying.
