Yuno and Noelle's relationship would be the slowest slowburn anyone's ever SEEN

At the start it seems like, well, nothing? Yuno makes fun of Noelle for having a thing for Asta and that's the extent of their relationship for a while

She's reactive as hell and it's just so funny to him. All he has to do is say "you like him lol" and Noelle loses her mIND and it's the funniest thing he's seen since that time Asta got stuck under the bed when they were 9

Meanwhile Noelle just pesters him back and makes snide comments @ him a lot. He shoots it right back and eventually it's like a game?

They're pretty much friends by a certain point. Sardonic friends. They both make fun of Asta and Klaus, also.

He continues teasing her about Asta and as time goes on he actually gets even more annoying about it. He doesn't even really register what he's doing, just that messing with her is fun and man she is cute when she's all flustered

Yuno may be smarter than Asta but he's oblivious as hell to his own feelings so he doesn't realize he's teasing her because he likes her

Mimosa and Klaus 100% do realize this

He does know Noelle likes Asta obviously so he's like 80% in denial and 20% just a dumb teenager

When Yuno does come to the realization that he likes her a lot he honestly has a quiet mini-breakdown because what the fuck

He then spends a while pining and watching her when she's not looking. Everyone catches on except Asta and Noelle herself

Much to his luck (?) and surprise, Asta has a thing for Mimosa. A mutual thing.

He kind of ends up offering Noelle a shoulder to cry on. He's not tryna be the rebound guy but he hates seeing her upset and cannot bring himself to let her be alone

She falls for him too, sometime after that. He's sweet and protective and gentle and the total opposite of Asta and she finds herself noticing it more. Plus she worries about him a lot, like idk after he got fucking STABBED and almost DIED

Even Sylph ends up encouraging him to pursue Noelle. "I mean, I hate her, but you like her and you should be happy"

He ends up impulsively telling her how he feels some random night on a mission. They're just going back and forth and he's smiling and feels all soft and dumb and just blurts out "i love you"

"You what?" "I love you. I mean, of course I love you we're friends but like, I'm in love with you. Like...a lot"

She just stares him down for a sec. "...honestly that's the longest sentence I've ever heard out of you"

Their relationship is cute as fuck tho. Neither of them are big on PDA but in private there's a looooot of affection

When Yuno's fangirls are around Noelle is a lot more bold. Yuno finds it really cute when she's clingy and ridiculously attractive when she does things like impulsively kiss him on the mouth in front of all of everyone

Noelle has some fanboys, too. Yuno is usually confident but he's 500% ready to fight if any of them try anything

He often flies over to the Black Bull's base and she sneaks him into her room. They don't necessarily do anything scandelous at least not every time, but they've still gotta be quiet if they don't want Asta's nose in their business

Constant banter and teasing from both ends. They have a certain intensity about their relationship that single people Finral envy. The heat between them is genuinely palpable

They make a killer team of course, we know this already

Yuno has lost a lot, like A LOT so he's extra protective. Anyone who even looks at Noelle funny gets the stink eye from him, touch her and consider yourself dead bub

Yunoelle is the slowest of slow burns

Upon first meeting Yuno's initial thought about her is "damn imma make this chick pay for my hearing aids"

After hanging around her during the Royal Knights exam, he likes her well enough. She's reactive which is funny and she's pretty strong so he trusts her

It's not until after a year or so that he starts getting annoyed because why Asta?

He thinks he's just mad because both Mimosa and Noelle like Asta and he doesn't want to lose plus Asta gets two cuties and he's stuck with Bell? Ugh, no

At first he kinda disregards it because whatever he has tons of girls after him it's not like it's really a loss

But then he's like huh. Why do I get so annoyed over Noelle's tsundere bullshit with Asta but not care when Mimosa pines after him??? What's the difference

Realistically I think he'd say nothing and watch Noelle date Asta while he falls full blown in love with her lol I love angst

In the event he does say something to her, it would probably be after the possibility of her being with Asta is off the table, because as much as he feels ridiculous admitting it he really just wants her to be happy

Doesn't wanna be her rebound guy though, so he waits a while until he can't take it anymore

Then he just pulls her somewhere private and kisses her face off tells her the truth

Ooooooo she teases him so bad for like 5 seconds before he shuts her up :)

Neither of them are big on pda unless they're feeling jealous. Yuno is very confident so that doesn't happen often with him, but whenever the fanclubs are near Noelle gets clingy af

He calls her "princess." At first it's sarcastic and teasing (and mildly flirty) but later there's actual affection behind it

Yuno's not very expressive unless he's with Asta or Noelle. It's very noticable that he likes her, even early on. Mimosa is the first to notice and she encourages it

Eventually the whole of the Golden Dawn knows and half of them are like "the Black Bulls girl? He can do better" and the other half are like "YEET GO FOR IT VICE CAPTAIN"

This is all very embarrassing for him

Silly as he might feel about it, Yuno does try to "court" her like proper royalty. He kisses her hand a lot and takes her on cute dates

Her heart can't take it but she's quite happy

She's still a tsun and he teases her over it a lot

Overall i feel their relationship would include a lot of lighthearted back-and-forth. Everyone can tell they're madly in love, they just express it in a funny way that, strangely, works

You know what? I am just going to say it.

I wish there were more arcs revolving other brigades other than the Black Bulls. Do I love them? Yes. Do I think other squads deserve more screentime than they got? Yes!

It bothers me so much that we do not get attention to the other squads or Captains or anything.

Hell, even just an episode of each of the other squads would have been entertaining. Like how on Earth can people deal with Jack's insane shit? A training episode with Mereoleona and Fuegoleon, The Coral Peacocks trying to wake up Dorothy. And more.

ESPECIALLY THE GOLDEN DAWN! The most we got from them was one or two episodes and that is it. Not even a mini arc of them working together. Disappointing.

It's common knowledge that Zuko and Aang, throughout the duration of ATLA, are a mirror of one another; a reflection of each other - not necessarily opposites but parallels.

So whilst I was analyzing the finale of the show, I noticed a really interesting parallel between our two protagonists:

Zuko was close to dying in his final confrontation with Azula and what pulled him back up, what saved him from dying was water. More necessarily Katara's healing abilities - but nonetheless, his opposing element saved his life.

On the other hand, Aang throughout his harrowing fight against Ozai utilizes Earthbending time and time again to save himself, techniques that we've come to associate with Toph (rock armor and seismic sense). And to access the Avatar State, that had since been blocked, Earth had been the ultimate catalyst to unlocking his Seventh Chakra.

And if we take into consideration what Guru Pathik told Aang - to unlock the Seventh Chakra he would have to let go of Katara. In a sense, this could have been a visual representation of how Aang lets go of his love for Katara, and how Toph (Earth) could take up that role.

Earth, his opposing Element, saves his life.

It's also interesting that our protagonists' conclusions and destinies are integrally tied to the aforementioned girls. Destiny and Fate are two major themes in ATLA, alonside the moral lesson shared to us by Uncle Iroh about the unity of the four elements and how each element can learn and grow from the other.

Zuko's destiny to bring honor to Fire Nation whilst also challenging his conflicting natures (Sozin vs. Roku; Ozai/Azula vs. Iroh) would have never come into fruition had it not been for Katara. Katara was the first person (other than his Uncle) to show him genuine compassion and humanity, she was the first person to glimpse into his true, kind and gentle nature. Additionally, had she not fought alongside Zuko to defeat Azula and save his life, he would have never been able to step up to the Throne and fulfill his destiny. Thus Katara is linked and bound to Zuko's destiny.

Aang's destiny was to restore peace to the world and end The One Hundred Year War. The Aang we meet during Book One - is timid and soft, a strong bender and with limitless potential, but he lacked the confidence, the back-bone, the grounding to step-up to his duties as the Avatar and defeat Ozai. Katara coddled him and never challenged him to look beyond himself. It's only after meeting Toph does Aang begin to confront his opponents with a different viewpoint, he gains a certain matureness in himself and suddenly we see him step up into his role and responsibilities. Toph's Earthbending not only saves him from death but it also gave him the strength to face his destiny. Thus, Toph is linked and bound to Aang's destiny.

It would have tied a lot of unexplored themes as well as provide a more satisfying conclusion (Aang entering the Avatar State because he followed through with Guru Pathik's lessons instead of pointy rock triggers it) and it would have been cohesive with the narrative thematic of ATLA.

I'm still astonished at how badly Bryke fumbled the bag with their romantic sub-plots. 🗿
