Oh yeah. I went camping last month and I forgot to say anything about it here. Went to Mull, stayed in the Tobermory campsite. It was my first time so I didn't push it too much. I wanted to make sure my tent worked etc etc. aside from being a bit cramped, the train from Glasgow to Oban is lovely and the ferry rules. I'll add images and stuff below this.

I just thought this was a neat addition to the ferry terminal.

Sooooo the tent. It's a bit too small for me. I'm 6 foot 1-ish and I couldn't sit up inside it. Not ideal when it's raining and I need to stay in my wee shelter for a day.

On day 2 I took my sore and stiff body and went for a walk over to the Island Bakery where they have a shed with a bunch of their biscuits and an honesty box. I may have sustained myself on these for the whole stay.

Anyway, on my last day I ended up waking up EARLY so I packed my kit and got on the road back to Craignure. Grabbed a nice coffee and breakfast to scoff while watching the clouds covering the hills on the mainland.

If you read this. Thank you. You're a good egg. I'm really hoping I can go out camping more often to help lose weight and get me away from my PC. Just need to get over the backache first hah.

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
