Jonathan/Kali siblingness because canon is whatever I want:
After defeating Vecna, all the Hopper-Byers + Kali moved into Hop's cabin.
At first, Jonathan and Kali were both wary of each other because they were protective over their siblings, but that ends up being something they bond over.
Kali starts following Jonathan around a lot because she feels out of place being so much older than El and Will, and Jonathan's the closest to her age.
They discover that they have the same taste in music, and that leads to Kali telling Jonathan all about her cool punk gang. He thinks they sounded awesome because everyone in Hawkins is so boring.
Kali assumed Jonathan was queer for a good six months into living together, and when he said he wasn't, she just raised her eyebrow and said, "We'll see."
Originally, they built an extra room in Hop's cabin for Jonathan and Will, while Kali and El shared El's room. But Jonathan and Kali got annoyed with Will and El because they kept communicating in morse code at night by knocking the shared wall, so Will and Kali swapped places.
After Jonathan went to college, Kali got to keep the room for herself, and he left all his music there for her to listen to.
Kali doesn't love the small town life, and while she misses Chicago, there's too many bad memories there now for her to go back. Jonathan moves out of the dorms into an apartment in his second year of NYU and invites Kali to live with him in New York, and she jumps at the chance.
Jonathan starts dressing more alt under Kali's influence, and his haircuts get progressively more 'interesting' (Hopper's words) every time they go home for the holidays.
Kali basically becomes Jonathan's assistant director when he makes his movie. No one but them really understands what it's about, and planning sessions basically consist of one of them suggesting another tiny detail they can include to make social commentary and the other going, "Yes, that's genius!" over and over again.
No one likes to watch movies with them because they're constantly making critiques/analyzing scenes.
At group events, they lurk in the corner of the room and plan ways to escape (Will and El always catch them).
Every once in a while, Jonathan will come home to their apartment and Kali will have a random group of punks she found and say, "We're planning a protest." Jonathan always just shrugs and joins in.
