Okay, so Hades 2 v1.0 dropped this Thursday, and already there seem to be two sides within the fandom with regards to the true ending.
One side is underwhelmed and feels that the ending does not provide a satisfying pay-off for the plot points and themes being set up during early access.
The other side feels that the ending is fantastic, actually, and does the broader arc of the story justice.
Initially, when I went on YouTube and spoiled myself as to what the ending was, I fell in the first camp. But now that I’ve given it a little bit of thought, I feel that I’ve a more nuanced take on things.
So here’s a point-wise breakdown of the grievances people have with the ending, and how the game addresses it, for better or for worse:
1. Chronos redemption arc: Some feel it’s unsatisfying and comes out of left-field. And you’d be justified!
All we get is one scene with Chronos playing hide-and-seek with Mel , and even then, it’s not very clear as to when and how that scene occurs. Is it the present? Is it the future? Is it an alternate timeline in which Chronos never attacked the House of Hades? It’s something that’s not made explicitly clear until after the scene is over.
And as it turns out, it’s a pretty pivotal scene! This is supposed to be one of the reasons Chronos repents his actions - he gets a glimpse of the life he could’ve lived if he had accepted Zagreus’ offer to come peacefully.
Moreover, the scene doesn’t do a very good job of putting you in Chronos’ shoes. Given that this comes right after you kill Chronos for what (you assume) is the final time, this is a very jarring tonal shift. One minute, this guy and Mel were spewing vitriolic one-liners at each other, and now they’re playing together, with Chronos being a loving grandfather who tells her bedtime stories? What’s he thinking during this entire scene? This feels like a completely different Chronos than the guy we’ve come to know.
And I think that’s the crux of the problem here. In the original Hades, Hades letting Zagreus pass when he reaches the surface for the tenth time is surprising. But it doesn’t feel out-of-character given what we’ve been learning for him. For all his flaws, Hades does love his wife and son. And as we’ve seen in the post-game, he still has a long way to go before he repairs his relationship with his son.
Also, throughout the game, we receive hints that Hades is more than a two-dimensional fantasy-forbidding father. He loves Cerberus just as much as Zagreus. He never once stops Zagreus from ordering improvements to the house decor, or even abolishing centuries old contracts, provided he has the resources to do so. Not to mention, all the conversations you have with Persephone.
Which brings me to the way the game addresses this problem. People playing for the first time, or starting a fresh save file, please feel free to chime in, but I think a significant number of Chronos’ dialogues were altered to highlight his feelings about his family - betrayal, isolation and so on.
This, I think, ties a little better into the ending, where Chronos realises that his acrimonious relationship with his family was the result of his own actions, and nothing else.
That’s Part I (and the part that’s the most fleshed out for me). The next parts will be in the reblogs of this post!
I just finished the Hades 2 main campaign and I more or less agree.
I think the dialogue from Chronos (there's a lot of dialogue where he's very bitter about the way his kids cut him off which does make him a *slight* bit more sympathetic) and the dialogue about the Olympians generally being pricks does a decent job of setting it up, but it still feels a bit abrupt seeing as how thoroughly locked in Mel (and by extension, we as the players) are on the whole death to Chronos thing
Dudes healthcare is so fake. My ADHD meds are $940 without insurance. But they gave me a website of "coupons" which straight up looks like a scam website, and I got it today for $60! Just a coupon from a random website and it was $900 cheaper. America, I am confusion!! America explain!!
as a pharmacy technician i can share with you some websites that give you those "coupons" for your meds!
goodrx is the most well known one, but if i'm trying to find the cheapest price for a patient i compare it to scriptcycle, and use whichever is offering the best price. you just type in the medication (PLEASE make sure you're getting the right drug, dosage, and quantity) and your zip code and they will spit out some offers for you
some pharmacies may have their own discount card to compare to as well!
if you are getting a name brand medication, you can also look at the manufacturer's website to see if they offer any evouchers for you to use too
Mark saw visions/hallucinations of Thragg ALL DAY when he came back to Earth, realising he had done nothing but give the viltrumites nothing to lose, but when Thragg showed up, he was calm, collected and bathed in warm light. He even let Mark wail on him a bit.
He was really nothing but calm and smart. Now ON THE OTHER HAND we have an old, loyal viltrumite sitting next to Thragg during Argall’s funeral after Thaedus killed Argall. This man simply asks if he’s loyal, he says yes, and GENUINELY SLIMES HIM OUT😭.
Invincible fans on TikTok are so insufferable bro. Just saw someone say 'What is there to analyze it's a superhero cartoon!' and you just know the words aura and fraud have permanently fried their brains.
The deadline has passed, and we are in a race against time. This is not about the future; this is about surviving today.
We have raised $22,796 so far, but we are still $420 short of the amount urgently needed right now to cover our rent and keep our family safe under a roof.
Every hour that passes without reaching this specific amount puts us at risk of losing our shelter. This isn't just a number it’s our safety, our stability, and our only shield in these harsh conditions.
Please, we need an immediate push:
• $420 is all that stands between us and a crisis.
• Even a $5 or $10 donation makes an immediate impact.
• Sharing this post right now is a lifeline.
We cannot wait any longer. Please help us bridge this gap and secure our home for this month.

I seriously do not get how people don't understand this. The absolute dependence so many have with AI, so quickly, is utterly baffling. They've completely given up all thought, all pursuit, all effort because it's the Cool New Thing.
We will NEVER be able to look at content online any more without thinking "Is this AI?".
From funny voices and videos of famous people playing CoD, to fake smear campaigns, product placements and scams using those very same voices and faces.
How about academics? Why bother writing a paper on a subject when AI can do it for you? Teachers not bothering to create course work because it's easier to have an AI plan a lesson for you. Doesn't matter if the information is incorrect because the person checking the work isn't real! It's yet another AI, working off of the same bungled data that yours spewed information from.
People are giving up the very idea of THINKING, of CREATIVITY and CONNECTION to a machine purely for the sake of convenience.
Tech-bros stopped reinventing the train for once, instead they created The Torment Nexus
We all thought it was going to be some over the top, horrid machine of endless pointed blades. It's not. It's a recursive river of information, slowly poisoning itself on it's own bad data while people unknowingly or without care, drink from it deeply.
People will suffer, knowledge will be lost and those terrible few will use it to obscure their crimes more so than they already do.
Please, don't use AI.
Be human. Struggle. Grow.
So the vlitrumites are not ONLY an extremely violent and brutal species, to the point of it being almost comical, but they also have an:
- Absolutely absurd child mortality rate, given Nolan states in the flashback that at least 2 of the kids he's training will die (and we can pretty reasonably assume this number only goes up as the education system advances), and this isn't counting how his dismissal tells the kids to find food and shelter IF THEY CAN.
- A coming of age ritual that consists of a fresh off the press cadet getting jumped by not one, but TWO far older, far more experienced viltrumites. With gaps in experience and strength potentially somewhere in the CENTURIES.
Genuinely how on earth did these people not go extinct sooner
I think the biggest barrier to high chaos dishonored 2 playthroughs is just how goofy the dialogue gets. I be playing Emily Kaldwin with the full intention of role-playing a ruthless woman who saw no other way than using all the means available to her and then homegirls says 'makes me want to experiment on my enemies' while skulking around addermire. Girl what.
I love Corvo of course. Sad Dad energies: unparalelled. He’s was a man gifted away from his homeland to a court that resented him for existing and won the heart of an empress, he’s mad skilled, he’s got dark powers, he lost everything except his daughter who he’d do anything to protect— yeah I love Corvo.
I also love Billie, Daud and the whalers, though some of that is def fanon.
And lest i forget the GOAT— SAMUEL BEECHWORTH. Man literally goes through hell AND high water to help Corvo and Emily, and he believed in doing the right thing. That man right there is why I can’t do a high chaos run, goddammit.
Honestly I like Dishonored more for it's worldbuilding then it's characters, but I think if I had to pick a 'favorite' I'd guess like. Emily in DH2. Or Daud
