The best, most husbands line in S2…
This is the story of Mira, a dying kitten I rescued. I have started a GoFundMe to help pay for her medical bills as I am in a rough place financially. Her full story is posted on the GoFundMe.
Any support is appreciated, either through donations or shares 💖

last song: the Headlock cover by aeseaes. And before that, Much Madness, also by aeseaes, a song I’ve been obsessed with for a long while. Rich and wonderfully unsettling.
currently watching: The Expanse, in a French dub for practice :D
current obsession: absolutely still GO
currently reading: just finished There Is No Antimemetics Division and started Wild Dark Shore, which I’ve added to my queue ages ago for reasons I don’t recall and am delighted to rediscover. (Was I happy to find out we are dealing with a lighthouse? Yes. Yes I was.)
currently working on: chapter 8 of Crossroads, which has so far required me to write a several-thousand-word text to myself about what came before, what has to happen now, and all the threads I’m holding. Sometimes, writing is essentially knitting.
last google search: nordic and slavic medieval bathhouses/sauna/banya. what not to do when trying to extinguish burning pitch. the etymology of ‘upstart’. these are not unrelated.

Thanks, book and omens! Last Song: "Nobody's Soldier," Hozier Currently Watching: Doctor Who (Bad Wolf arc) Current Obsession: Good Omens. Yep, we're still here Currently Reading: Anne Carson's translation of Orestes, Euripedes Currently Working On: self-indulgent poetry and a fluffy, forced-proximity GO fic that I want in first draft form because I start work again in August Last Google Search: (currently using DuckDukeGo) "what do you call the week after next?" The word for the day after tomorrow is "overmorrow," and I was hoping there was a similar convention for week after next. Officially, there is not. I am, however, planning to being "overweek" into the lexicon No pressure tags: @lornainthewoods, @quoththemaiden, , @kjerstith, @minervas-hand, @contritecactite, @masoney, @wyrmst, @aurlworthfightingfor, @speckledsnowbeast, @so-so-somebody
Thanks @greenthena
Last Song: “Cradles”, Sub Urban
Currently Watching: Various, but most current is “Republic of Doyle” which was filmed in my home province and brings a lot of nostalgia for it.
Current Obsession: Still Good Omens, but Supernatural is also in there a bit.
Currently Reading: By myself - A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman; With my partner - Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett (both in audiobook format).
Currently Working On: My mental health mostly, though eventually I’d like to finish my Good Omens rock band AU and my Good Omens AU that is inspired by Anne Rice’s Exit To Eden (the ineffables are perfect for it).
Last Google Search: Dehydrated skin (it was for skincare purposes I swear 😬).
i’m not a fan of the good omens finale but what i refuse to do is go into finale lovers’ positive posts and go rain on their parades. i think our fandom can survive this if we don’t try to tell others what to feel. and yes that goes both ways.
then eventually we can go back to peaceful parallel play and even sharing toys
This 100 percent 💯
One of the main rules of fandom is not to yuck another's yum
Im in a love hate relationship with the finale but id never bring someone down about it
That's gross
They didn’t just tell the story. They carried it. With grace, humor, heartbreak, and magic. We’re so lucky they were the ones to do it.

Reconstructing S3
It seems likely to me that the 6-episode version of Good Omens season 3 always went roughly this way, and the script was cut down to 90 minutes instead of being rewritten into a clear, satisfying, 90-minute arc.
With that thought in mind, it makes me wonder what the missing pieces would have been, and how they would have built up to this ending feeling like a clear fit. I.e., how do we get from S1's Adam being convinced not to replace his friends' parents and S2's Sitis saving her children to S3's clean slate approach?
I think there are snippits within the remaining 90 minutes that hint at how the necessity for rewriting the universe could have been supported by what was in S3.
The decay of Whickber Street could have been a case study in it: Aziraphale left, and in the span of just a few years, it utterly collapsed. Why? Well, Aziraphale wasn't there supporting it. When he lived there, he wasn't just passively failing to collect rent; he was supernaturally molding the environment around him to provide sturdy buildings that don't require maintenance, protect it from gangsters and government inspectors, and everything else to ensure that he and his neighbors never encountered any serious problems.
Tadfield could have been another case study: We saw at the end of S1 that Adam kept his powers. The first newspaper headline in S2 says "Is Tadfield the Best Village in England?" Adam presumably kept using his powers to make it a wonderful place to live, with idyllic weather, no devastating highway construction or predatory corporations moving in, and neighbors who never moved away. Adam renounced being Satan's son, but even without his conscious meddling, he still kept Tadfield intact.
Crowley's plants are a case study as well: Without miracles, he has only one left alive, and it doesn't look like it will last much longer.
Aziraphale leaves, and Whickber Street crumbles. Adam stays, and Tadfield remains. Crowley loses his miracles, and his plants die.
Why can't the current universe exist without God? The same reason Whickber Street can't exist without Aziraphale.
To lean into the trend of angels and demons pairing off (from S1's Aziraphale/Crowley, S2's Gabriel/Beelzebub, and S3's Muriel/Eric), this could even be because of angels and demons, not God Herself.
We only ever see Aziraphale and Crowley stationed permanently on Earth, but in S2, Shax calls herself "Hell's representative in London." The implication is that there are hundreds or thousands of angels and demons stationed all over the world.
Perhaps they're all constantly, subconsciously keeping things running, the same way Aziraphale does with Whickber Street, Adam does with Tadfield, and Crowley does with his plants. They don't need to be purposefully trying to keep the world running; their desire to have their own small part of the world be nice is what keeps the whole world worth living in. (And isn't that a nice thought, by itself?)
Telling them not to meddle wouldn't be good enough; they're meddling subconsciously, all the time. The bookshop has no rats because Aziraphale is an angel. Shutting off their miracles wouldn't save the world; it would crumble, just like Crowley's plants.
The existence of angels and demons was built into the fabric of the universe, and they can't be removed from the ecosystem without everything falling apart. The only way to have a universe without supernatural meddling is to change the very fabric from which the universe was made.
I'm not saying this is the ending I would have written myself. Looking at the pieces that still remain in S3, however, this is my current best guess for how they could have built up to this ultimate conclusion.
An opinion without 3.14159 is just an onion.
Guys this isnt even funny. Please stop.
Crowley loves him so much he thinks if Aziraphale put his hand to Crowley’s chest, his ribcage would part to allow Aziraphale to take Crowley’s heart in his palm. He already owns it anyway. Crowley gives himself the moment to look, and that must be when Newt takes the photo.
Illustration for @voluptatiscausa's stunning You Can Have It. This drawing is also gonna be the cover of the amazing podfic by @lickthecowhappy which will (hopefully) be out next month!
AAAAAAAAGHGHG. I got to see this as a WIP and it’s so stunning 🤩 and I love them and I fucking adored this fic. It sliced my soul to ribbons and then lovingly put it back together. The podfic is gonna be AMAZING.
This is about Good Omens but it's also about Terry Pratchett and fucking neil fucking gaiman and I think it's worth a read.
Those of you that subscribe to this blog know it as a place for short fiction, and usually, that is exclusively what it is. But just this on

My thoughts on the Good Omens are complex and shifting, but I need to put them down in words. So here's where I'm at. If it's not where you are, I understand that.
There's a lot in the finale that lined up with my expectations and fanon and suspicions, and a lot that didn't. On my first watch, I found it funny and fun, if rushed and obviously trying to do Big Things in too small of a space. The ending was touching and rather fitting.
On the second watch, I cried basically from the time they made it to the bookshop right through the credits, but I still didn't hate it.
The more I read people's thoughts, the itchier it becomes. I find myself using my own fanon to understand things that could have been shown and given us all something less heartbreaking. (That they, and everything else from their universe became the essence of this new universe; that they will keep finding one another over and over throughout human history; that perhaps other universes exist and our Ineffables are in many of them.) I am becoming increasingly frustrated that that work is being required of us as a fandom.
I've long been a believer in a Human ending as being somewhat inevitable. Because, at its heart, Good Omens is (was? was supposed to be?) about humanity, and Aziraphale and Crowley finding their own side that was neither Heavenly nor Hellish. Shades of Grey. All of us versus all of them. I envisioned A&C (and Jesus and Adam) coming together with humans to basically tell Heaven and Hell to fuck right off. Humans had never needed them - they could be wonderful or terrible without divine influence. Aziraphale and Crowley being the laziest employees of all time proves that. That was the point. And A&C choosing Earth and Humanity and Our Side over an immortal life as "enemies" felt beautiful. I knew the fandom would be divided. I knew the arguments we'd be having. But I felt that ending would have been consistent with the core of Good Omens and that most people would come around to understanding that, even if they didn't like it.
Instead, we got a human resolution. But it wasn't earned. It wasn't a choice made. The philosophical framework wasn't laid down to make it make sense. And in the end, it wasn't A&C standing with Humanity as the humans chose what kind of world they wanted. It was Divine Powers playing Three Card Monty in an undeveloped metaphor I honestly still haven't figured out. The game was rigged from the start. We've known that from the beginning. God tells us that herself in the opening voiceover of the first season. But I wanted Our Side (all of us) to flip the table and kick the dealer out of the room.
But the plot isn't why I'm hurting right now. In the end, it's only a story. A story with multiple canons, and an incredible fandom who can write our own Book of Life. A story that absolutely lives past the pages of its book (and gods I wish Terry had been around to address that line...) and has for 30 years.
What hurts is how much my friends are hurting. What hurts is seeing people lashing out at other fans, and the team that did their best with what they were given. What hurts is not being able to celebrate the good, and feeling like by wanting to hold onto what love is there feels like a betrayal of people I care about.
I was always going to grieve this ending, no matter what it was, simply for being the ending. The closer we came to the date, the less excited I got. Because then it would be over. I had hoped that it would be a sweet sort of grieving, where my friends and I would get to laugh and smile and cry and dream together. Instead, we are hurting in a million different ways and I don't know how to handle that.
The real Good Omens really have been the friends we made along the way. And I hope, with time, we can hold onto that.
Well said, and touches on a lot of my own feelings now, I think.
I keep trying to pinpoint why I feel such loss over this because despite it not being the ending I wanted, I have always tried to be open to other possibilities (not just with this show, but to other ideas in general). And I think that maybe it’s just this: that it is truly the end.
No more seasons, or new sneak peeks, or hair pics. Or little things to make theories about.
And it saddens me too that it went out, not with a bang (no pun intended), but with a whimper. And knowing that I will never really get answers from anyone about any of it because of the shadow that hangs over the whole thing…we, ironically, can’t ask our questions.
Adding to that with some people in a fandom I love - the only fandom I have ever joined - behaving like monsters to complete strangers and, it would seem therefore, having never gotten the point of it all.
It’s not totally the end that A&C got that breaks my heart….a lot of it is the vast gulf that is so noticeable between S1/S2 and now, and the reminder that I should never put anyone on a pedestal.
It's been almost 48 hours. I have processed the finale. I'm past my grievances. I've ran out of the conventional stages of grief and I'm currently on the secret 6th one. It's time for memes
