i did know this before having kids (i have six). we have a kid that's needed multiple procedures requiring anesthesia. and every single time, i am asked multiple times if i'm sure he was not given any food or water after a certain point.

every single time i have had to say, "i understand that if he had food or water, he could aspirate it into his lungs under anesthesia. i am not lying to you." THEN someone would make a little note and i would stop being repeatedly asked.

not a single time was that risk explained to me. the only reason it came up was because i already knew. i still don't understand why it isn't standard pre-op counseling or pre-op check information, when me as a parent acknowledging the actual risk also put THE MEDICAL STAFF at ease because i conveyed that i had informed understanding as reason to not lie about giving my kid food.

"maybe some people will get nervous and refuse surgery" okay so they need more counseling about risks and anxiety, not less information in a way that actually does endanger their child or themselves!

In fact no, nobody is fully responsible for their actions if they don’t really understand what those actions entail. And it’s a major part of a medical professional’s job to see to it that patients understand medical advice, not merely give that advice and expect it to be obeyed.

I feel like Annabeth is always described as scary or intimidating or whatever by guys (I can recall this description from Percy, Leo, and at some point Apollo) but she doesn’t do anything scary. She does a lot of difficult things that require skill and resilience but she doesn’t do anything that could scare people especially a whole ass Olympian. Don't worry, I don't judge you, we all went through the Romans are just Greek copy paste phase. :) I will just give you this quick historical lecture.

Romans had and still had their own gods before they syncretized them with the Greeks, and even then, they were very different.

I'd like to start with the fact that each pantheon's gods have different roots. Most Greek gods have Mycenean roots, while Roman gods might have Etruscan or Sabine ones, or whatever.

Clearest example here are Mars and Ares: unlike Ares, Mars was a really one of if not the MOST beloved god in his land, and he wasn't just a god of war: he was also associated with vegetation and forests and stuff. Ares is just the very personification of war.

Even in mythology, they're different. An example I can give is how Ares and Athena hate each other, or are rivals, while Mars literally tries to marry Minerva.

Minerva is also a good example. Even if in her origins, she had similar domains to Athena, she wasn't as important as her. She was just a minor goddess.

She'd later become more popular, but even after that, the functions of Athena were done by other gods in the Roman pantheon. God of protection? Mostly Jupiter. God of war? Obviously, Mars. Minerva was more a goddess of artesans than anything else, and also the matron of professions like teachers or physicians. (This during the Republic. During the Empire, when the Romans conquered Greece, it changed. Again, because of syncretizm).

Romans also had gods with no Greek equivalent, like Janus or Quirinus.

We have to remember these are two diffierent cultures, with different values/morality, religion, time and place and not just some sorta China copy. It's important for me that y'all know that.

And as an addendum, if you believe something is CSAM, you should NOT be engaging with it at all, let alone downloading it / sharing it with others! CSAM usually means a jail sentence.
