Marvelâs Avengers is a premium priced game with microtransactions and battle passes per character that are 10 bucks each, alongside special skins for clients of Verizon and other companies, while the game itself runs terribly in the beta. Square Enix seems to ignore all of this and tries to convince us the monetization system theyâve implemented is âfairâ.Â
Ubisoftâs been ignoring reports of sexual harassment and abuse for YEARS. The culprits were not even fired, but given the chance to resign honorably. Meanwhile they claim their games are not political, while also using BLM imagery in their latest gameâs trailer while the movement has been exceptionally present in mainstream media the past few months.
Activision-Blizzard has fired over 200 people after a record breaking year in which their new CFO got a starting bonus of 15 million dollars, their CEO makes more than 40 million dollars a year and its staff gets paid so horribly that they canât even afford lunch in their own cafeteria.
EAâs been recycling the same sports games with the same bugs, glitches and content each year while charging the same price for it. Theyâre refusing to acknowledge the ultimate team modes in these games as gambling, while the number of stories this year about how many people have gotten addicted to buying FIFA card packs have only been growing.
EA, Activision and 2K are going to charge for upgrades for next-gen if you buy a current-gen copy while Microsoft has created a system on Xbox Series X specifically so that publishers wouldnât have to charge extra (CDPR is not charging for a next-gen version of CP2077 for example), even though most of the changes will only include performance upgrades. Basically itâs if like youâre playing on PC and theyâre charging you for a higher performance setting.
This is only a summary of what has been happening in the past 8 months. Triple A games are no longer games designed to be games, but money-making machines dressed up as games. Games are designed around monetization, creativity is no longer the standard in this landscape. And honestly, Iâm so fucking tired of it.Â
I STEPPED OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT DOOR OF MY OWN HOME ONLY TO FIND THE DEER THAT TRIED TO KICK MY ASS LAST YEAR STANDING RIGHT THERE IN MY FRONT YARD. BOLD AS BRASS.
AM I NOT SAFE ANYWHERE ANYMORE
for those of you who were not here last year: this deer is the most obnoxious, unnatural red-orange color Iâve ever seen, only appears when itâs raining, and once chased me a quarter mile through the woods. her name is Hot Cheeto Hatred and she is my nemesis

Really confused as to how my logo changed to kermit the frog. Unless im starting to have hallucinations from lack of sleep. Still. mindfucked.Â
This trend of faking a continuation of normality during the apocalypse using mannequins and other forms of fake people is not one I am fond of.
I, on the other hand, find it hilarious and am quite fond of it.
In fallout when youâre like âbut why would they leave the mannequins there.â

stop fucking using the word psychotic to describe bad behaviour and violence already god fucking damn it
oh my god i'm so tired psychotic does not mean violent it does not mean angry or erratic. it refers to a person suffering from psychosis, a loss of touch with reality that includes hallucinations and/or delusions. psychotic people are not inherently violent and y'all need to understand how much stigma you create when you again and again incorrectly use the word psychotic without even thinking about it
would appreciate if non-psychotic people could reblog this

There's a story there, and I'm begging to know WHAT.
this isnât a real criticism of pjo/hoo but i think itâs kind of interesting and funny and i think about it too often
rick famously wont commit to a canon timeline and has everything happen in the unspecified ambiguous present day but heâs been writing this world since 2005 and technology has advanced so far since then that itâs created a very weird dissonance
in 2005 when rick wrote that demigods couldnt have phones it was like, darn, thatâs a bummer, oh well! when i read the series in 2011 i still didnât think it was that big a deal, the fact that our heroes could only sometimes communicate over long distances was convenient for the plot and inconvenient for the characters but it wasnât like hearing that someone wasnât allowed to have an arm yet. i didnât have a phone then, and for years after i got one i didnât take it with me most places like i do now.
whatâs more, phones themselves were so different. i canât remember if rick actually wrote annabeth or any other characters âflippingâ phones closed but that is definitely what i visualized when i read the series in middle school
but now we essentially have to pretend like percy was 16 in 2009 and was 16 until he finally had his birthday in 2018 or whenever and annabeth has a flip phone and everything is happening in the same vague âpresent dayâ. like there is no established year, by rick riordanâs own design, but these books are unarguably set in our world and full of pop culture references that reflect the year they were written
just kinda wild to me that percy jackson, if he is a 17 year old in the year 2020 as the recent books suggest, squarely a Gen Z-er if we go by that (..boy do i feel weird realizing that), a kid who probably would have had a snapchat account in fourth grade if he was mortal, who might have stayed up late watching youtube on an old ipod touch as a kid (even though youtube was founded the same year tlt came out)â
itâs just funny that now rick has established that these kids donât have phones and that technology is too dangerous for them to risk using even though now these books have aged into a world where itâs both deeply implausible that theyâd be able to avoid technology to that extent and would also be extremely weird and conspicuous behavior for them to not have phones.
and rick couldnt have known, but also, funny how if he had moved on after writing TLO this just would have amounted to an endearingly dated feature of the original books, if it occurred to anyone at all
anyway. what was i saying

Like literally the most famous song about how much girls love jewellry is just explaining the importance of getting jewellry for when your partner leaves you penniless and alone.
The founder of Girl Scouting in the US, Juliette Gordon Low, funded her first troop by selling her pearl necklace, which was her only belonging after her husband died and left everything to his mistress.
She founded Girl Scouts to teach girls self-sufficiency so they wouldnât have to go through what she went through when her husband died and she didnât know how to take care of herself.
