for anyone who isn’t aware, friendsofthecongo.org/campaigns contains a list of actions you can take to help the democratic republic of congo, including pdfs of postcards you can print and send to a list of tech companies to tell them to stop using child miners AND a letter you can sign and send to your reps (+ potentially incorporate the main points of that letter into any scripts you might already be using for emails or calls to your reps!). friends of the congo also has a volunteer application form and a youtube channel

Since we’re at it:

PSA: I support fictional everything. 

As in: I support for everyone to read/write/draw art/look at art of anything and everything they want, as long as no actual real people come into it.

If knowing that fiction is fiction, not confusing it with reality, knowing that people are in charge of their own media experience, and knowing that nobody who wasn’t already extremely troubled is going to suddenly commit crimes on the basis of some piece of fiction they consumed makes one ‘problematic’, well. Then I’m ‘problematic’, here you go.

The list doesn’t end. There is no real-world crime that I object to existing in a story.

I may not want to read the story. I may tell my family and friends they should not read the story because it will give them nightmares. I may be disgusted by anyone who wants to read the story.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t think the story has a right to exist.

we have this app called toogoodtogo where restaurants/cafes/bakeries/hotels and so on sell their leftovers for really cheap to reduce foodwaste

I used to do community service at a community breakfast, we’d go to the local Safeway and get all their stale bread, the local bakery for their stale baked goods and whatnot.

They throw away so much food it’s ridiculous, I’m glad someone finally created a program like this!

In Canada we have flash food, I dont know if it’s just confined to loblaw stores but you can get food that stores have to throw out for dirt cheap
