I'm gonna throw out a fic that I wrote some months ago, just for my first submit to this blog, and so you guys get a feeling about my writing style. I'm a little rusty on the writing, but it'll get better with the more things I throw out! Hope you all enjoy! ------------- "No, no, and no. You know I'm not good with scary movies!" "But sweet pea, this one ain't even that creepy lookin'! I'll turn it off it gets too weird for ya, I cross my little cowman heart." You giggled when he stood up straight and drew an 'X' shape across his chest. McCree had been trying to get you to watch a horror movie with him for a while now, but bluntly put, you were very easily scared. Meanwhile, he seemed to absolutely adore them, and he proved this by watching all of the classic horror films, and walking through at least 4 haunted houses last Halloween. You loved him all the same, but your trait for horror just didn't match up. You sigh, and look away from your computer, where you're typing up a report from the last mission. "Are you sure, Jesse? And you won't try to scare me to freak me out or anything?" "Promise, darlin'! It'll be great. I'll be here to protect ya." "... let me write up these last few sentences, then I'll join you. Go pick out a movie, but PLEASE choose a not-so-scary one!" That seemed to make his entire week, as he ran out of your office in search of the perfect movie. Your eyes rolled as you smile. 'He's such a little kid sometimes..' you think to yourself. Once you finished your report, you turned off the computer, and went to join your childish boyfriend in the common room. ~ "So this one's new, heard it wasn't even that bad. It's called 'Don't Breathe', does that sound okay?" McCree asked lightly as to not scare you. He thought he knew how easily you got scared, and he wouldn't want to change your mind from watching a horror film with him. Meanwhile, you nodded. It's not like it made a difference to you, this would be your first scary movie. Jesse placed his hat next to you on the couch and popped the movie into the DVD player, the sound already quieting considerably. Once he plopped himself down next to you, you threw your legs over his lap and rested your head on his shoulder as his arm moved across your shoulders. 'This'll be fine, I have Jesse here with me. He'll hide me when scary things happen!' ~ The air was tense around the pair of you as the movie progressed, the silence of it being the worst part. Every now and then, you whimpered and hid your face in his chest while he placed kisses on your head to calm you down. Though you didn't know it, McCree had a plan for his lover brewing in his mind, one that he knew wouldn't be a good idea, but it would be funny once the moment showed itself. You were at a point in the movie where you could tell that it was winding up to a jump scare, so your face was already partially buried in Jesse's shoulder to hide again. And then shit went DOWN. Once there was a loud crash sound from the movie, Jesse's body jerked forwards off the back of the couch, and he yelled "BOO" towards the TV, but it was enough to have you shrieking. In a fit of panic, you jumped off of the couch and sprinted all the way to the bedroom that you shared with Jesse, slamming the door behind you and literally jumping into the covers, changing into pajamas beneath the sheets as tears rolled down your cheeks. You stayed like that for several minutes, listening to the random sounds outside as if they were monsters coming to get you, and you started to cry even more. Down the hallway, McCree was walking to your room, and was preparing for the biggest slap of his life. He knew you got scared easily, and he thought he completely understood how bad it was, but he underestimated it. Once he was at your door was when he finally realized how bad it was, hearing you sob and sniffle. He instantly ran into the room and reached the bed, to which you shrieked and recoiled. Once you looked out from the covers and saw him, you sighed in relief and jumped forward to clutch onto him in a hug. "I hate you so much, why would you scare me like that?" He held back onto you and guided you both down to be lying under the sheets together, your arms still wrapped around his neck and his around your waist. "I'm so sorry (Y/N), it was a funny idea at the time, but I didn't realize you were that afraid. I promise I won't do it again! You have m' word yet again, cross my little cowhand heart." "Damn right, I'm not going back to watch the movie!" "I figured, I shut off the movie n' the lights n' all that." As he talked, he grabbed the pajamas he had left on his pillow that morning and changed. Once he was done, he threw his clothes down on the floor and held back into you, burying his face into your shoulder. "Again, 'm sorry for doin' what I did, and I hope you remember that I still love ya, darlin'." "I know cowman, I love you too." You sealed it with a kiss before drifting off into sleep.
