These dudes are fucking legit.  They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back.  And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”

The source is long, but so, so good. These men and women are available in 36 states, 24 hours a day to stand guard at home, in court, at school, even if the child has a nightmare. Many of them are survivors of childhood abuse as well, and know what it’s like to feel scared and alone.

In court that day, the judge asked the boy, “Are you afraid?” No, the boy said.

Bikers Against Child Abuse was founded in 1995 by a Native American child psychologist whose ride name is Chief, when he came across a young boy who had been subjected to extreme abuse and was too afraid to leave his house. He called the boy to reach out to him, but the only thing that seemed to interest the child was Chief’s bike. Soon, some 20 bikers went to the boy’s neighborhood and were able to draw him out of his house for the first time in weeks.

Chief’s thesis was that a child who has been abused by an adult can benefit psychologically from the presence of even more intimidating adults that they know are on their side. “When we tell a child they don’t have to be afraid, they believe us,” Arizona biker Pipes told azcentral.com. “When we tell them we will be there for them, they believe us.” ( Article)

Bikers come from across the nation to watch over and take shifts for these kids. And the best part is once you’re adopted into this family as a BACA kid, you’re always one. Even when you’re 40 and the perp gets released from jail, they’ll come meet with you and find your best options for avoiding the person and maintaining the life you’ve built for yourself. Once a BACA child, always a BACA child. In Florida, there’s 100% rate for identifying the perp based on the child’s testimony. Why? Guys? This post changed my life. I saw this post. Forever ago. And thought it was only in america… and wished desperately that they could help me. But then I saw it again, during a bad episode, and checked their site. They aren’t just in the USA

They’re in Canada as well and probably other countries. I met and talked with a native guy who runs the place near me. His name is Shaman. I got in, and I’m considered a BACA child now. Despite being 17, turning 18 when I talked to them. They spent time with me when my abuser was over, they gave me therapy resources. They give you something called a ‘level 1′ where they go to your house with as many bikers as they can, i shit you not a solid 20-40 bikers came from even out of province, and met me. I got to choose my biker name and I got a vest with patches on it and my name on it. They all hugged a Teddybear before giving it to me, and told me if I ever felt the BACA bear was running out of love, to give them a call and they’d refill it for me, and then I got a ride on one of their bikes. Just a day or so ago I went to an annual party with them and they we ate food one of them cooked and had a lot of laughs. 

I’ve never felt as loved as I did being a part of the BACA family. They also gave me dog tags with the names, and phone numbers of my 2 workers.  So I can call them whenever I feel scared. 

BACA is an absolutely wonderful group that will do everything in it’s power to help any child whos been abused. 

And it doesn’t end when you’re 18 either. As long as you get in contact/get your level 1 before you’re 18? you’re ALWAYS a BACA kid. I’m 18 now and they still invite me to parties, ask me if I’m okay, and are there for me. They’re still trying to find me resources for therapy. 

BACA has changed my fucking life.

Hey everyone, I never thought i would have to make one of these but now I do.

This is my darling pup Snow, she has been my support system for 6 years. I’ve known her since she was born. She’s been my everything, my light, my life and she has gotten me out of many dark places. 

Today I had to take her to the pet ER because suddenly, she could no longer walk after having mobility issues for a couple of months. Now, I know it was probably partial CCL tears. She has bilateral CCL tears in her knees that will require TPLOs, or Tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy. This surgery is really pricey for one knee, much less two. I have some savings that I will be putting towards these surgeries but I don’t know in the end how much it’s going to run me. I will be paying out of pocket for all of this. 

I am a Vet Tech but I lost my job around two weeks ago and now I have no stable income to put towards her surgery other than some savings. The pain is so bad that she cannot go outside to go to the bathroom, even with help. Using a sling makes her scream and she cannot lift her hind end.  So, I’m asking for help. Please, anything will help both Snow and I get her on the road to recovery. We would appreciate every little bit of help.  Thank you.

Update: We are at $547/$6,500 which is amazing! Thank you guys so, so much. I’ve been taking Snow to a couple of consults at different clinics but none of them have panned out due to availability happening in late May-June and she definitely cannot wait that long. 

I have two more consults next week with two different places that have told me that they have closer availability. I am not expecting to get the full $6,500 anytime soon or at all but this will help pay for any loans I end up taking out in order to pay for her surgery. UPDATE: Hi everyone! Thank you so much for donating, following and sharing. We have reached $787/$3,500, which is a lower goal! As of right now, I have found a clinic that will do the surgery for $4,600-$4,800 on the 18th of this month (May), which is quite a bit less than the original $6,500 I expected! Because of this, I have lessened the goal by $3,000 as $4,600-$4,800 is much more doable. This money will go straight to her surgery and any following expenses that come from Snow’s surgery. Wish us luck and please keep sharing, it helps a lot! ♡

UPDATE #3: Hello everyone! Thank you so much for reblogging and keeping this post going and donating. We are at $1,177/$3,500 which is so amazing to me. People are so kind and generous and it’s so overwhelming. I cannot thank all of you enough. It’s been about a week and a half since Snow’s surgery, which went well. However, she was diagnosed with Mast Cell Tumors (she had three of them on her legs which were uncovered when she was shaved) and they were removed while she was already under anesthesia. This was devastating as grade 3 MCTs are pretty much death sentences. Her tumors were sent out for a histopath and I will be getting her results tomorrow at her vet visit. With the tumor removal and the histopath, this knocked the surgery up to $5,500, which was nearly 1,000 dollars more than I expected. Because of this, I ask everyone to please reblog this post and don’t let this post lose traction. Any little bit helps and if I gather any extra, it will go towards any possible cancer treatments for Snow in the future. Thank you all. ♡

Update #4: hi there everyone! Small update! Snow’s MCTs were actually low grade 2s with clean margins (meaning that all the tumor tissue was removed, leaving none of it behind). Which is great news! Low grade 2s and grade 1 MCTs are usually considered treated completely with removal. It’s just a matter of keeping an eye on her for any other suspicious lumps.

She is recovering well and is learning how to walk once more, slowly but surely. 💖

UPDATE #5: this is so exciting! snow is having her 7 week xrays taken tomorrow. if the bone has healed properly, then we can really focus on strength training her legs so she can walk and eventually run and jump again! unfortunately, i am now running out of money to pay for the loan i had to take out for her surgery as well as my monthly bills. hopefully i can pick up a few more shifts at the part-time job i have if she gets the okay tomorrow. but until then, my goal is to get $500 before the 25th, which is when the automatic payment goes out for my monthly bills. please help if you can!

UPDATE #6: unfortunately, today’s appointment had some really bad news. snow’s left knee unfortunately has a piece of bone that broke off and is now floating around in her leg. this caused the entire patella to shift. snow will never walk normally unless this piece of bone is pinned down and fixed.

i had to schedule a second surgery for the 23rd of this month and it’s going to run me nearly $1700 dollars more. i honestly don’t know how i’m going to pay this. please, please consider donating. the goal on my gofundme is going to remain at 3.5k seeing as how that’s approximately how much money i currently need. right now we stand at $1,177/$3,500 still. snow has a rocky second recovery incoming.
