The Runalongs are rare in worlds without fast transportation. It seems they are brought into being when someone, bored by a journey, looks out to watch the countryside go by. They daydream of a creature that follows their path (guarding? Or hunting?) and suddenly, without fanfare, it appears.

Runalongs have little in the way of ecology, but they are known to eat other dreams. Sometimes if the one who called them is particularly lonely or afraid they will get closer and even speak in humming voices without opening their mouths. But the second you stop moving, the creatures turn and vanish behind themselves, disappearing to wherever fantasies come from.

A Runalong can also have other forms; a humanoid figure (without distinct features) is common, and these may also ride things that are supposed to be horses. If only we were better at imagining, then they might not look so terrifying.

If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

You know, people always talk about insomnia and how much that affects your mood, body, brain, ect. They never talk about what happens when you suddenly get so much sleep that your brain and body and mood is all over the place. Oh, and what about the fact that you're even more exhausted than if you only got an hour of sleep. I went to bed at 1 a.m something this morning and woke up at 5 a.m. I'm so tired and have a migraine. I know for a fact that I won't be able to sleep anymore now. I also know that I'm going to start another endless cycle of sleep patterns of falling asleep earlier and earlier. I've tried this before and I never seem to get a normal sleep pattern. It's so incredibly irritating bring dealing with sleep and under and over sleeping. Both are harmful and since I'm used to 2 to 3 hours every morning, I'm not going to be a new kind of mess....

yeah things are hard and life can suck but there r dogs who don’t have long tails but they still wiggle their little butts bc theyre!! so happy!! and there are cats who sit in the sun and there are flowers growing through cracks in the side walk!! there are songs that make u forget your troubles and books that make you fall in love with words and there are candles that smell nice and lotions that make u feel all nice!!! there’s a million good things happening even when ur sad!!!

Academic hills I will die on:

-Land-use history didn’t begin with European colonization and if, like me, your research focuses on post-settlement land use it’s important to acknowledge that fact.

-The great American wilderness is a grossly inaccurate colonialist fantasy.

-Human influence, specifically that of indigenous people, is all over the ecology of what is currently called America.

-Human interaction with other organisms is not inherently negative because it’s “unnatural.” We’re all family whether we want to admit it or not.

-Human/Nature dualism is awful and wrong.

-Environmentalism that focuses on “humans are bad” and verges on some Catholic-style “fallen man” ideology is also awful.

From what I understand it’s a middle eastern thing (we have many middle eastern pigeon keepers in Canada). It is ornamental but also the earrings are supposed to jingle and make noise when the bird is moving around. So it is appealing to people in that way. I’m pretty certain only cocks get them because they make them jingle more. It’s most commonly done with the middle eastern dewlap breeds. Some also get matching bracelets.
