William just wanted immortality he's just mentally disturbed, give him a break, killing all those kids and people? Gosh darn you guys just can't handle good writing revolving around mental illness. He's just hurting other people because he's sad. He just abuses his own children because he's really sad.
Most unpopular fnaf opinion ever: Modern fnaf storyline would make so much more sense if instead of making the mimic crucial to the storyline, they took a different short story from the books and made it crucial to the storyline.

If remnant is the consciousness of a person that is left behind after their death, I assume that it contains their memories, right? And remnant can attach itself to metal and that's how the animatronics are haunted, right? Does that mean that if that metal is destroyed, perhaps some of the person's memories or consciousness is destroyed as well? There's still so much up in the air about how remnant works. Anyway, I was imagining a scene with Scraptrap and Michael and Scrap knows he's forgotten something cause of his missing arm's worth of metal gone from him, but he has no idea what. But Michael knows.
Random thoughts about Afton number one billion or something
Talking about Afton, Emily, and the MCI with a little FFPS thrown in the end, bone apple teeth
Afton talks about putting people back together an awful lot. I think he's very much a controlling person, but he also cares... in a horrible way. He wants the best for those around him, and he knows exactly what it is. His immediate thought when he sees anyone he cares about is "I can fix you". He certainly felt this way about his kids, and I think he felt this way about Henry, too. Did he notice that Henry was neglecting Charlie? Did he try to tell Henry to spend more time with his daughter, or she might fall into the wrong crowd, or act out, or have something bad happen to her? When he killed Charlie, did he think he was finally showing Henry the consequences of his actions? A "teachable moment" if you will? It's shown in the log book that he used to become friends with the kids before he killed them. I wonder if he specifically tried to choose kids whose parents were neglectful and didn't care where they were. During his rant in The Silver Eyes about why he kills, he sort of insinuates for a second that he considers the kids in a better place/in a loving family. I think in a REALLY weird way, Afton could be seen as thinking of the act of killing the MCI as him taking care of the kids. I mean, even Pittrap, made out of the agony of the MCI, still takes care of Oswald in a weird way, pretending to be his dad and everything. Now, I don't think this extends to grown-ups that he doesn't explicitly care about, he seems to take delight in those killings in a more typical sadistic way. I just haven't seen anything that shows him really having fun killing the children, just considering it something exciting for them, a new start in a way. Also, he becomes a foil for Charlie as the puppet if you look at him through this lens, thinking that he's guiding these lost souls to a better life, while Charlie's actually trying to help them. On poor Michael, having had his father dictate him around all his life, only for his uncle Henry to make one of the greatest decisions of all for him... forcing him to burn down alongside him with FFPS. It seems like Afton was rubbing off on Henry.

Anyways, I've been thinking about all of my extremely specific headcanons for fnaf and more specifically for The Fun One himself, so I decided to just summarize my thoughts here and maybe I'll just consider this an au of sorts or something lol
I've drawn out every variation of Afton from the 1980s to the 2030s (Security Breach). (Please forgive me if I'm not as familiar with what happens in the Steel Wool era of fnaf, I'm old lol) I've also written how I think they would write their names, just to show their sense of self and identity at the time.
TIMELINE
1978- Fredbear's is established!
1983- David (CC) dies, William is furious at Michael
1985- Fredbear's closes, William kills Charlie outside of Fazbear's, finds out about remnant
Early 1986- Kills MCI, establishes second locale with toys
Late 1986- Henry pieces together what William did, Henry is scared of the police arresting him for covering up crimes, child endangerment, etc. so Henry lets William go, kicks him out of company
1987- William establishes Circus Rentals (au name for Circus Baby's), Elizabeth dies, Michael leaves for college
1990- Empty nester syndrome and also Pure Evilness causes William to go undercover as a nightguard at Fazbear's under multiple aliases, shifting them out anytime anyone suspects anything, Henry is too busy being horribly depressed to tell that his homicidal ex best friend/business partner/guy with huge crush on him is running around his business again
1993- Stupidest man alive (William) decides to cover up his remnant experiments and destroy the animatronics, does the cha cha slide too hard in the springlock suit and instantly dies
2000- Michael gets Scooped
2023- Fazbear Frights employees find Springtrap, no one tells Henry about it. During this time, Fazbear wants to make money off of yet another tragedy so they get this guy named Matthew to make a game for them, he copies Bonnie's AI chip, not realizing that William's remnant is all over it, and manages to accidentally copy his consciousness as well and then In The Flesh ensues. The program that gains sentience from this later becomes Glitchtrap. Michael gets job at FF after hearing about their "Real One", Family Reunion pt 1!! (I've talked about my thoughts on WillCare vs WillHate, so I won't rehash them here, but regardless, William has forgiven Michael (In his own sick way), Michael has not forgiven William. Michael burns down FF, hoping it killed his father. He is very incorrect.
2024- A year of purgatory for Springtrap, wandering around Hurricane. (This is when he would meet Rip if this is the yume version of the story). He meets Elizabeth (family reunion pt 2!), and also his new homunculus son Theodore (Fleshtrap, I've explained him in a previous post as well). Eventually, Michael and Henry find each other and hatch up the FFPS scheme. Family Reunion pt 3!! Henry burns everyone to the ground (Michael did NOT want to die in my au, but Henry's not exactly a great person in my au either, so he just decided what was best for him anyway, just like William always did) (Michael manages to make it out in my au, but immediately goes undercover for years afterwards, holding grudges towards both William and Henry and Fazbear in general)
2025-2035- Glitchtrap wanders around, the last shred of Afton's existence. As a full clone of Afton's consciousness, after he realizes his original body and remnant was destroyed, he decides he must gain a new body and retake his identity as Afton. He infiltrates Fazbear Ent and possesses new employee training VR program where he meets Vanessa. Help Wanted ensues, followed by security breach, but instead of trying to build himself back as some variation of springtrap, he's trying to build himself back as a full human again. Complete and utter resurrection, his greatest achievement. Then he gets destroyed by a child and a minimum wage employee again, typical.
That's my current thoughts on this silly timeline, but let me know y'alls thoughts!! Also, ask me anything about this goober or my timeline! He lives in my head rent-free and he needs to pay!!

IN THE FLESH AU TIMELINE (Name still pending...)
1. Springtrap is found in a back room, brought to Fazbear Frights
2. Company decides it needs to promote the attraction, hires Matt to make the game
3. Matt makes a copy of the Spring Bonnie animatronic's programming, unaware that Afton's remnant is haunting the code
4. He sets this new version of Afton in the game, and while in the game this copy of Afton becomes sentient
5. It seeks vengeance on Matt and also wishes to fulfill Afton's goals of remnant experimentation, so "In The Flesh" ensues, with this new copy of Afton's consciousness finding a way to leave the confines of Matt's computer
6. This newly freed copy of Afton eventually turns into what we know as Glitchtrap/MalHare
7. Fleshtrap (Or as I call him in this AU, Theodore or just Theo for short) wanders around Hurricane growing up with a vague knowledge of his purpose but no clear direction, wandering around and living like an animal
8. He eventually runs into the original Springtrap who has escaped the Fazbear Frights fire and is now wandering Hurricane as well (Pre Pizza Sim), Theo tries to reconnect with him, thinking that he's his father, Springtrap goes along with this, although he has no idea where Theo came from
9. Meanwhile Glitchtrap is trying to find a way into Fazbear Entertainment's HQ computers while terrorizing Hurricane as well
10. He remembers his... "son" and decides to finally see what the little fucker's up to
11. Finds him with the original of himself, now the original knows what's happened
12. Now there's three of them, and they all have the same goal... or do they?

My post that I posted literally two hours ago is all mixed up when I SWEAR I put it in correctly??? I'm gonna edit it now and hope it fixes it but why?? Is anyone else having problems with tumblr fucking up their posts after they already posted them?? Like the pics are completely out of wack and it's not hiding things with the little hidden feature anymore?? Wtf??
So I've been thinking about this idea of what if the baby from In The Flesh grew up and started terrorizing Hurricane? It would have to be so lonely, the only parent present at its birth dies immediately, it has no idea where its father is at. It doesn't know who it is, why it's here... It's whole existence's purpose was to slowly torture and kill its host, and now that that's done... what's next? A living weapon that's already fulfilled it's purpose. It would haunt the streets of Hurricane, finding clothing in dumpsters and back alleys and shelter in the desert. It might even run into its father as it stalks around town. Would Afton recognize a child created by a digital replica of his own consciousness? Would he embrace him as his new son? Or merely as a new pawn to use and even discard at his capricious whims.
It's all very interesting to think about. But more importantly, I just like drawing furries lmao

william afton and being such an entertainer. a kids entertainer especially. he can do card tricks and sleight of hand, little magic tricks, the finding a coin behind your ear trick. he can play the piano and sing, make up songs easily, has a catalogue of songs memorised to break out whenever he has the chance. he tells gripping stories and jokes that make the whole room laugh. kids flock to him naturally, gather around him and hang on his every word. he’s magnetic. people adore him. so few of them ever get to see the truth.
