“[incest, bdsm] All the theorists of incest trauma speak about the tendency for survivors to dissociate, deny, and fragment their subjectivities […]. If integration is the goal of recovery, it would seem to me that the survivor who brings together these various aspects of her self, and performs them in a sexual space in which they can all be present at once, has achieved a level of integration that is the purported goal - the moment from survivor status to ‘recovery’. What, after all, is [Dorothy] Allison to do with that “man who walked across her life?” Forget him? Deny him? Repress or sublimate him? When the incest survivor “does it for/with daddy,” she acknowledges that this is part of her history, part of her. And she can replace the original “him” with someone who can follow her through the labyrinthine journey of her past and remain with her in the present in a relationship that requires an ultimate test of trust. It is not a utopian playing space. It is a risky practice that can and does fail. but it also more, I think, than a “cognitive adaptation.” It is an attempt to break the frame, to achieve that moment of vividness, that startling quality that Laub and Jameson speak of, a breakdown in temporality, an event in its own right. Like the testimonial, s/m sexual practices are metonymic, not metaphorical. They are not merely substitutions or repetitions of the subject’s historical past. And despite the fact that s/m rhetoric is saturated with theatrical terminology, it is not theater.”

to me the thing about deification is that something fundamental is lost in the process
people can’t be immortal. so in order to be immortal you can’t be a person anymore. you have to be distilled. stripped of everything. till you come out the other side as an abstract concept.

someday I'd love to direct a hamlet production where the set is entirely decorated with absurdly tacky ultra rich folk christmas decor. I want it to truly evoke like these people have too much money and they dont even care about christmas. Hamlet woke up one morning and scowled at the servants decorating his halls as if they chose the work themselves.
annoying when shows set in the medieval period have the women with thier hair just long and unstyled and out . girl go put on your wimple girl 🤦♀️
like there are so many fun medieval hair and headgear options, it's so boring just seeing loose beachy waves meant to appeal to 21st century beauty standards

The art of losing isn’t hard to master; so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster,
Lose something every day. Accept the fluster of lost door keys, the hour badly spent. The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
Then practice losing farther, losing faster: places, and names, and where it was you meant to travel. None of these will bring disaster.
I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or next-to-last, of three beloved houses went. The art of losing isn’t hard to master.
I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster, some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent. I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.
— Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident the art of losing’s not too hard to master though it may look like (Write it!) a disaster.
