We returned to Middle-earth of LOTRO last night, on the Treebeard server for more adventures in the North Downs with Sentronus the Lore Master and Sebastian the Bear.  We fought our way up to the very door of the fortress of Fornost and killed trolls on our way into a fiercely defended orc camp, clearing out each and every Uruk and killing their leader to secure the trust of the Elves of the North for a Council to defend the land from Angmar.  Soon, Sentronus and Sebastian will be headed to Oatbarton and Lake Evendim where they must meet with the Wardens of Annuminas and defend Eriador from invasion before it’s too late.  Join me next week for Wizard Wednesday at the usual time, 7pm Eastern at twitch.tv/MageSentron to catch all the adventures!

Last night we began our first episode of a full on-stream play-through of Spiritfarer, the critically acclaimed game about loss and grief and I know it’s not going to be easy for me.  After the traumatic circumstances involving my father’s dementia or his injuries from his war days and losing almost every other relative I have, this game hits me especially hard.  I also know that I need to play this game but I’m not sure why I know that. I’m not sure if it makes sense but maybe this game will help me right now with what I’m going through. 

I don’t want to spoil too much about the game so-far, but its absolutely charming in many ways.  It’s a mix of everything I enjoy about games and the art style is adorable.  I would have liked to maybe have seen a bit more depth to the game but I can deal with a fairly simple micromanagement simulator if the story is worth-it. 

The basics are that I’m in the afterlife and Charon, the ferryman, has given me and my cat, Daffodil, the role of Ferry Captain of souls to the afterlife.  I have picked up several souls, apparently people I knew and cared about quite a bit.  I’m currently gathering resources to feed them, keep them comfortable and happy by giving them fun things to do with their time on my boat until I can finally find a way to take them to their destination, and I’m not even sure where that is.

As far as the story goes, I have many thoughts right now.  I’ve already spent a time crying about what I think might be happening in the story.  All is not as it seems.  These people I am picking up are treating me in several ways that don’t add-up in the way that these being my relatives might.  I’m calling them by their proper first names, not a parent or grandparent, and I’m only calling one an “uncle” which might also be a term of endearment. These individuals also seem like they’ve been here longer than me, which leads me to believe I’m younger.  Either I’m their friend or I’m someone they care greatly about and I’m not directly related to them, perhaps, at most, a niece.  My fear is that I’m a hospital worker and these are residents.  The reason I fear that is because that means the people meeting me after I passed away aren’t my family. 

Anyway, so far I’ve met Gwen, Summer and Uncle Atul, but I’m sure there will be many more.  Gwen is sweet but distant, obviously something is bothering her and yet she’s strangely familiar.  Summer is also sweet and rather warm, loving and a little hippie, in a good way, she strikes me as someone I would very-much get along with.  Uncle Atul is the uncle I never had and reminds me a lot of my grandfather, for the short time I was lucky enough to have him with me.

The Young Adventures of Sentronus and Sebastian take us from the employ of Radagast the Brown to working directly under the Dunedain of the North downs to investigate a great threat from Angmar! 

This week, more Yule Festival and we’ll head deep into the North Downs, Fornost and even, eventually, Angmar and beyond! 

I’m taking the night-off to rest and focus on self care.  I’ve been feeling very down lately and need a little extra time during the holidays to focus on family.

Further into the mystery of the blood-swamp of the Lone Lands. Radagast was right, there is the work of Angmar in these lands and the Crebain, eyes-with-wings seem to be sent from Dunland. There seems to be a mystery of some evil force that sets it’s will against us, and that evil is coming from Nan Curunir. The Adventures of Young Sebastian and Sentronus continue as the Red Maid must be defeated before they can move to the next place in Middle-earth that needs help.

Taking a few days off to reflect and care for my mental health.  It can require a lot of effort just to get by with our regular lives in this stressful modern world and we have to remember to care for ourselves by stepping away and remembering that there’s a whole world outside with lots of fresh air and sunshine.

The Holidays have begun on the Gladden Server!  We donned our best winter duds and fixed a small issue with our Kinship (thanks to everyone in twitch chat who helped!) so now Sentronus the Lore Master is leader of the Sleeping Gatherers! Our Kinship house is now ready to accept visitors if you stop by in the Oxbury neighborhood of Bree!  We gave-up on Mordor, honestly and decided to choose our own adventure in Mirkwood with the Elves but got stuck in the darkness of the forest!  I guess the name really WAS accurate! Next, we visit our brand-new captain character and head into Cardolan for Before the Shadow!!

It's been a very difficult time, for me, recently and I feel that tonight, I'll take the night-off from Wizard Wednesday to recover from a bad mental health episode and focus on a nice meal with my mother and sister. I don't have much left in this world, so maybe it would be wise to focus on that tonight. I want to thank my community for all the generous support and wish everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving Holiday. 💙🦃🌈

New start, new story.

A while ago, I started writing a book, and I’ve written many chapters of many versions of that story but today I started page one of what I think will be the final version of that book.  I no longer feel like I’m writing this but more like it’s writing itself, like it needed to exist and I’ve been delaying its very birth.  I think I’m finally at the point in my life where I’m ready to tell the story of “Alpha and Omega: The Beginning and the End”.

Working on a novel for me...

Started writing a novel this month for National Novel Writing Month but decided I would take until New Years and really try to enjoy myself.  I want this to be the project that helps lift me up and enjoy being myself and having my own style.  I’ve spent years writing what everyone expects of me and now I’m going to let go and do my best to be ME.

And if that fails, at least I tried.

Will post updates but the synopsis and idea phase is over.  Now I write the chapters.

Looking forward to hearing if anyone else is attempting something similar.

Starting to feel less like a failure lately...

I’ve done a lot in my life and yet, because of personal trauma and tragedy, I’ll freely admit I’m a “snowflake”.  I’m a skittish cat that runs away at the slightest hint of drama, but today, I think I made a step forward.

I played #AmongUs and honestly, it freaked me out but I played an hour and had an okay time, and then after playing with a good friend of mine a little later, I started to click and not feel so nervous.

I don’t know if that’s progress but if I’m going to become a streamer, I need to get over my anxiety and social issues. 

I think today was better than most.
