Hi, autistic woman here. Humans and other homonids have discovered penicillin, and relatives with the same functions, multiple times across thousands of years. So, although what is taught as the discovery of penicillin comes from checking a petri dish after a vacation, there are incredible studies discussing paleogenomic diversity across thousands of years finding foreign groups of penicillin (or related strains, which is it's own story since we can use tools to help us place specimen in the proper phylogenetic trees finding sharp timeliness and lineages) inside dental calculus (tartar). Really, I am fascinated by their processes in breaking down all the data into groups and what processes and with what amount of certainty they can place groups.

Honestly, I hate to see two women accredit the discovery of a mold used thousands of years ago across many groups of hominids to a white guy from the UK in the 1900s. Sure, he fathered it into the modern era, but like come on.
