About Tory's name...i think his birthname IS tristan he just changed it to 'tory'. There is a bit more context for it in the manga, narcisse and tory seem to be related and narcisse knows him since tory was a child. Apparently narcisse is part of the branch family and tory is supposed to be the successor of the main family (hilarious?), he just doesn't want to. So Tory's rejection of his birthname is also partly a rejection of his family obligations.
I wonder though if the change to a similar but gender-neutral name is also meant to be an implication that tory is nonbinary? (I would love it)

i do think its neat that, while in english they arent really similar names at all, in katakana its more apparent. トーリー vs トリスタン. that might be the reason for the "tristans nickname is not tory" clarification, actually? because the untold facts tweets were originally in japanese (and simply were put into google translate when posted in english)
i wonder if the name tory is related to jack at all. im super super curious about his backstory and relation to jack, but knowing how minor of a character he is i doubt we'll get it explored in full
