I’m an asexual with touch aversion. I only allow a certain set of people to touch me. One of them is my mom. But what she doesn’t get is that she’s an exception to an overall rule of “no”. Lately she’s been guilting me into hugging my little sister back (she’s been initiating hugs more and more often which kinda makes me anxious). She doesn’t get that being forced to hug my sister makes me feel really anxious and makes me feel pressured into doing something with my own body I don’t want to do.

I don’t hate my sister, I love her! But that doesn’t mean I’m obligated to hug her back when I don’t want her hugging me at all.

I’ve tried explaining it to my mom but she just reminds me that I’m the older sibling and says I need to get over it. She says my little sister is going through a lot and needs it. But I’m going through a lot too… PTSD, Anxiety and an eating disorder…

why is it selfish for me to want to have control over my body but not for her to demand something of me I don’t want to give?

I know this might sound stupid and like something you’ve tried before, but have you tried talking to your sister about how forced touching makes you feel?

For example, holding a baby is terrifying and not enjoyable for me, but my Mom would try to shove babies on me all the time.  When I finally talked to my Brother about it after they had their first kid, they told me it was okay and they wouldn’t force me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with.  They held true to their word and allowed me to come around in my own time (I held their daughter when she was 3 months and now they can’t get me to put her down LOL)
