Our sense is that the criminal system cannot be relied upon to administer justice for Black folks, and was, in fact, historically designed to control Blacks within a racial caste system. There
always seemed to be different rules for definitions of crimes, reasons for arrests, charges to be filed and prosecuted, juries of “peers,” views from the bench, verdicts, sentencing, and the rest since the slave times.
This shows how the justice system is not so much a system that instills justice but rather a construct that is meant to keep blacks down and at a disadvantage to their white counterparts. It is time for people who don’t want to shake up the status quo of society to notice that the status quo is unfair and it needs to be changed so that everyone can be treated with equality.
