My contribution to the "Vox is a creep" discourse 🤡
There really is no limit to his beauty 😭
At first I thought "oh this is sweet, she got one of Blitzø' shirts- but that would not fucking fit lol"
Then I realized it's LOONA'S SHIRT!! This sweet girl, without even being asked, got her own clothes out for Stolas. I can't
does he know he gets ten times hotter when he looks insane
just funsies with the totally canon couple 😭
wdym ive been gone ahah-
This one lead animator at Spindlehorse and their fucking spinning shots (it's Aven Heard)
Y'all had one job...
...AND YOU FRICKIN' NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Seriously though, that was such a damn good episode.
Working on some Mastermind memes but this one deserves a post of its own. I think
The fact that Stolas had to do the whole “imps are too dumb to come up that idea” in order to save Blitz and he even said “do you want killing him to light a fire in his race” because he WANTS him to do exactly that but it comes off like he doesn’t. So now everyone hates him but he had to in order to save Blitz’s life I’m going to start gnawing on my eyebrows
What I spent the entire time crying about is how much this song plays into all Blitz' worst beliefs about himself and Stolas' opinion of him and yet Blitz doesn't get mad. He doesn't really buy it, not even for a second. He's shown the entire episode that he has NO problem picking a fight and yelling when insulted, even in this courtroom against impossible odds but when Stolas stands here and says all these things that should confirm all the things Blitz accused him of a few episodes ago, he doesn't believe it for a second. He immediately recognises this as the ploy to save his life that it is and he's worried for him.
He truly has come so far in altering his perception of Stolas to be more accurate. He loves him so much.
And god do I hope they rise the rebellion Stolas was forced to speak against and he gets to eventually be seen as the hero and sweetheart that he is. All of them deserve so much better.
This gives "pilot Stolas" vibes
Can the "what if Stella is actually a good mother" people shut up now that we have undeniable proof she happily emotionally manipulates Octavia for her own gains.
Blitzo being held tightly by his found family, relieved to see him alive
Just to hard cut to Stolas completely alone, thinking that he's about to be killed. "I'll fucking die alone," indeed.
I know I've already talked about everything Stolas has lost with the removal of his status/power, but i cannot get over the fact that we won't see his estate for a long long time
And his estate is the most gorgeous set in Helluva Boss by far just look at this
I obviously hope Stolas gets his job back for his sake but for the viewer sake please I can't let go of this artistry
I'm busy thinking about the fact that Vassago was the only Goetia to actually be supportive of Stolas/Blitz during the episode.
Just look at Vassago panicking over here when Satan starts speaking again, shit hurts me deeply. No one else near him in both screenshots gives a shit about Stolas, it's ONLY Vassago who cares.
Helluva Boss writing team, PLEASE let Vassago and Stolas be friends, I need it so badly now
I would absolutely love if Vassago is the one to help Stolas regain his standing or, at the very least (because honestly I think Stolas would be perfectly happy not being a prince and living with the IMP team otherwise), getting access to/custody of his daughter.
i guess my somewhat controvertial take of the day is that i don't think cash was regularly physically abusive to blitzo.
don't get me wrong, cash was an abusive pos in many ways. he certainly seemed to not care a lot about blitzo's safety, considering what he made him do. and he was manipulative, neglectful, and didn't bother hiding how little he thinks of his son from said son.
but i do think the introductions of paimon and cash in 'the circus' was set up to show us the type of abuse blitzo and stolas went through as kids, and if they wanted to establish cash as physically abusive on top of all of that, they'd have put it there. but they didn't.
in contrast, paimon was established as physically abusive.
look at blitzo's reaction to paimon hitting stolas. he looks startled and disturbed. it doesn't look like something he's familiar with.
on top of that, blitzo never seems afraid of cash when he talks to him, even as a kid. when cash gets up in his face, blitzo only looks more defiant.
blizo only looks fearful at the prospect of being caught by the goetia. cash tried to dismiss those fears, and while he's not comforting blitzo in the slightest, it doesn't seem like cash himself is the source of the fear.
this is the complete opposite to stolas, who, while seemingly happy to get a visit from his dad, actually flinches back and raises his arms in defense every time paimon gets closer to him.
yes, there is no one right way to react to abuse. but i still think it's clear that it's a handy, short visual way to establish a pattern of physical abuse, and it wasn't established in cash & blitzo's case.
so what about this?
i think this incident of physical violence is probably all the more memorable and painful for blitzo because it wasn't typical. the memory of cash slapping a freshly-burnt blitzo is intentionally placed after the memory of blitzo finding his mom's pendant.
realizing his mother is dead. feeling the crushing grief and guilt. having to break the news to his father. seeing him this angry and violent for the first time in his life. more grief and guilt. his mother is truly dead, he's truly alone, and it feels like it's all his own fault. like he deserved that.
no wonder he makes that face.
Considering how Mastermind ended with Stolas losing everything,
I'm now sadly entirely convinced without any doubt that Andrealphus has killed all of Stolas' plants within the palace,
including Stolas' plant that he had since his childhood. Sinsmas is going to ruin me in so many different ways, isn't it?
animation so good it pissed me off.
