Tobey Maguire Spider-Man "it's a hard knock life" fancam hours
How does it feel to have conceptualized the perfect Spider-Man trailer op
Found this on a video about the living weapons trope. And I started thinking about how we should clown on David more. Imagine teaching your daughter to read body language and not at all considering that seeing somebody die in front of her might be kind of confronting for her.
Absolute clownery.
He's avoiding the question!
Okay
I LOVE THE DICHOTOMY OF THE COWL AGING DICK BUT THE BATSUIT IN ISOLATION HIGHLIGHTING HIS YOUTH
With cowl on: Pulling straight 40-year old man
But then Dick tugs it off to reveal the saddest, eternally teary face known to man.
So long as Dick can hide his face, he can maintain the facade of Batman. He is physically and intellectually capable of doing so. But as soon as you reveal the eyes, as soon as emotional vulnerability is possible, it immediately gives away how lost and unwell he is in the position.
(Note: it also it worth mentioning that this is not a single artstyle choice. The images above were pulled from a Rebirth comic, but the post-Final Crisis Dickbats run had the same dynamic.) See:

art of characters standing in front of their own wanted posters ALWAYS hits
I love how Watters’ arc on the Zanni focuses on Dick’s care for Blüdhaven’s children. Dick’s entire history in Blüdhaven has been littered by this care — especially for the poor and disadvantaged.
There was his run-in with a kid he found trying to steal from his apartment. Upon this kid being turned on by the others in his encampment, Dick saved him and got him a foster dad to prevent the same juvie experience Dick had.
There was also this little girl, who Dick tracked through her letter to Santa, because her situation seemed unsafe and he was worried. He landed her safer housing as well, along with a better job for her father.
Even on his beat, Dick played with neighborhood children, attempting to be as safe and unintimidating as possible while a cop, because he knew how abusive the BHPD were (which was the entire reason he was trying to tear them apart from the inside). The interactions that follow are unbearably sweet.
Seeing all of this history culminate in the arc with the Zanni, the degree of trust Blüdhaven’s children have in Nightwing, is so satisfying.
Blüdhaven’s children are his, you know?
If ever you needed a demonstration of the evils of man's world, just browse Wonder Woman on ao3
fanon tim: i wish bruce would love me but he keeps beating me up and i'm helpless to resist on account of being malnourished by my evil parents who lock me in a snake pit where i have to fight the snakes to eat the other snakes or i starve 😢
canon tim: i'm da king of da highway
i am terminally A Sucker for characters who have a towering and generally earned ego about their own ability and absolutely no self-worth about themselves as a person at all. intoxicating combo.
hello tumblr
liking a ship but disliking the distinct set of stock fanon that they have been assigned is like one of those punishments dante came up with when he wrote the worldbuilding for hell in inferno

i think one of the reasons that lots of ppl rlly venerate past runs of comics while ruthlessly dunking on any modern comic is that comics are told over a very long period of time in very small increments, and so often it’s easier to see how any given story fits into a larger narrative and appreciate it on that level in extreme hindsight. i also think often the work of other writers further down the line create context for a given arc or narrative
ugh we need more manipulative characters that aren’t evil. lie and cheat and steal for a good cause. control every narrative. use narcissism for justice. ruin all of your personal relationships for the good of the mission.
