the scariest thing to me about the Knights Moralis in witch hat atelier is the fact that the rules of the pact are so clear cut that there is no grey area for what magic is forbidden magic.
Its not a question of what right do the knights have to decide who gets to keep their memories and who doesn't or that they are walking judges juries and executioners. The pact isn't arbitrary or open to interpretation, it states that this kind of magic is forbidden no exceptions. The knights dont need to consider the ethics of wiping an offenders memory
As fun as it is to clown on Easthies for beefing with a twelve year old him and Vinanna are correct in their belief that if one exception is allowed, it will open the gate for more. It will become a nightmare because then the knights job will then actually become walking judges juries and executioners and the pact would collapse meaning all those questions of who gets to decide and why and when will arise.
The point of the story is that the pact IS flawed. Simply erasing any exception only kicks the can down road, which is all well and good until the can hits someone like Custas or Tartah. They both join the brimmed caps for opposite reasons but both because both of them fall through the holes in society that the pact makes.
I am excited to see where Utowin and Luluci go from here because they seem to be waking up to the massive hole in the logic they never questioned all their lives and i hope at least one of them leaves the knights or confronts Vinanna about it
They dont have to think about it they just need to passively enforce the law, which ro me to far scarier than one guy deciding right and wrong on everyone else

no i don't think AI can make art. Not because it cant put any emotion into the story. Not because it cant be original. Not because human art has imperfections that give it character. Even though that is all true
I feel like the only people who think AI can make art view art as an outcome. AI might be able to produce an outcome faster and at a high level of detail or some such thing. BUT THAT ISNT THE POINT.
THE POINT IS THAT IT WAS MADE BY A HUMAN BEING. THATS WHERE THE WONDER COMES FROM. WHEN WE READ A STORY WE KNOW ITSNT REAL BUT WE MARVEL AT IT ANYWAY. I COULD DRAW A RANDOM ASSORTMENT OF LINES ON A PAGE IN THE VAGUE SHAPE OF A FLOWER AND IT WOLD STILL BE BETTER BECAUSE I MADE IT.
