I think that misogynistic human misconceptions of all mothers selflessly loving their offspring and always knowing the perfect thing to do for them bleeds into a lot of animal rights bullshit. You see this a lot in opposition to pet spay aborts (‘my pregnant cat got depressed after they killed her unborn babies’) and criticisms of separating calves and piglets from their mothers’ in certain animal agriculture scenarios. Most animals are like “fuck they kids” if rearing their offspring is the least bit convenient for them, the situation is not ideal or the wild blows the wrong way. They’re hardwired to survive as individuals and the effort of rearing offspring to maturity is secondary to that goal.
