oh my god hamlet
I just googled this and… yes, it’s absolutely real.
And there are so many articles and videos and discussions. Like, the scientific community is buzzing about this.
So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.
The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.
Thank God someone bothered to check.
Since I hate having to do my own searches to verify stuff, here’s a Science Daily link and the journal article it cites for any similarly lazy-but-conscientious people after me. (And the University of Michigan press release, for what it’s worth.)

Labyrinth my beloved. My favorite movie ever.
hamlet’s “i did love you once” and ophelia’s “indeed, my lord, you did make me believe so” is such an underrated gut punch. it’s betrayal it’s heartbreak it’s vulnerability it’s so over. truly no one is doing it like shakespeare

when you were a child, the worm named LANGUAGE ate its way into your brain and cursed you to understand the letters and the syllables and the sense of speech, doomed you to commas and clauses and passive voice, took the meat of you and twisted it with words. this is why you’re able to post about maids and berries and flasks and catgirls and whatnot, so it’s pretty great. make sure to thank the worm named LANGUAGE the next time you see it!

There's a bit in Godel Escher Bach analyzing how Jabberwocky was translated into other languages. It still amazes me. How would you even begin to translate Carolls semi-nonsense words into other languages? There is no French equivalent to "galumphing" or "vorpal" so you have to find equivalent French words that can be evoked and played with until they are parallel semi-nonsense.
I remember reading that for the first time and feeling s distinct sense of linguistic/semiotic coyote-time. What the hell is any of this language bullshit. What are we doing? It's all ridiculous. Translation between languages feels like a trick that will be patched out of reality at any moment, and people are doing it with poems. Ridiculous.
What do you mean there's a japanese translation of Finnegan's Wake. How.
Apologies to the mods.
