how does one differentiate the winchester twins? the four of them?
mary winchester had reportedly told john winchester, that if he were to impregnate her again after giving birth to her last set of twins , she’d find a way he’d give birth instead. wise words spoken by a dead woman.
one would argue that each pair of twin was like the other: sam took after friede, simon took after dean.
but how does one tell apart the two sets of twins?
most famously known ; friede & dean
least known ; sam & simon
starting with the oldest : friede & dean
one would say it is easy to differentiate the two of them: as one twin is a woman and the other a man. if it were not for friede’s golden hair, she and dean would be mistaken for another more commonly — as their facial features are very similar to another.
when the twins stand next to another, it is much apparent that friede is short: but another thing that is apparent is how much they look alike. from the curve of their noses, to the shape of their brows, to the way they smile with their teeth showing — their smiles in general look very akin to another: a very kind smile with dimples stretched onto the pale skin. their noses are one and the same, sculpted by the hands of aphrodite herself — the apple of their cheeks are both full and dusted a light pink.
the differences is in the details and how they carry themselves. dean’s green eyes twinkle with mischief, while friede’s look exhausted. friede quips her right brow, while dean always raises his left one. his face is slightly longer, while hers is round — and she had plumber cheeks. while her hair falls into curls over her shoulder, his hair is straight and holds no curls in them : no matter how hard he tries, they won’t form the same way friede’s do.
dean has sharp but soft features, while friede’s features very very soft; befitting of her soft spoken nature. a lot of his features are very central and kind of shaped around and under his eyebrows, leading dean to have a more prominent face. rigid. friede’s features are more centered around her cheeks. less rigid, more round looking.
the twins also dress very differently from another, but what ties them together is their love for leather jackets. friede most commonly wears a diesel leather jacket, over her silken ensembles — dean likes to steal that jacket, for exchange of his own.
ending with the youngest : sam & simon
one would argue it is harder to differentiate sam and simon, as the only apparent difference they have is their hair being different — their face was sculpted by aphrodite to merely cause confusion, beautiful her creation was nonetheless. one would have to squint their eyes to truly understand who was who.
simon was the rowdier of the two. thinner hair, crazy eyes and an toothy grin. his nose had been broken one too many times , in his high school years, and he tends to wear a bandaid atop of his nose — as an accessory. he looks like an slightly eviler (or emo) version of sam, which fits as simon likes to drive people mad. he is the twin that takes after dean, so much was apparent. but it one were not to notice the broken nose, one could tell by the eye color that simon stood in front of you. his eyes were grey, instead of the green the other winchester siblings shared with another. they gleamed conspicuously with mischief, paired with his signature grin. simon also shaves his hair twice a year, and sam never does so. the younger twin carries himself. . .very confidently, maybe it’s a mask to hide his insecurities from the world.
sam was the calm and sensible one — taking more after friede. the nerd, just like his older sister. he allows friede to cut his hair, as she claims to know what looks best on him. he looks friendlier than his twin, which translates well onto his soft features. the green of his eyes always shimmered with genuine interest, and he leaned down to hear someone better if they were smaller than him — something simon did not do. sam tries to smile a lot, despite the pain he feels. his presence generally feels. . .welcoming.
the youngest pair of twins both love to wear carhartt: owning jackets of the same model but in a different color. they like to annoy their older siblings just because — especially when either friede or dean are drunk, taking advantage of that fact and claiming to be the other twin.
while it not may be an easy task to differentiate the two pair of twins, if you pick up on their small habits and features you’ll know who is who. it took a lot of years of practice to some to tell the difference, but to others it came easy. don’t be discouraged when they plan their pranks, it’s part of their charm.
