If you're reading fanfic off of fanfiction.net or other possible sites and still want to download them. A good site to use is fichub.net. Also it sometimes works with ao3 fics as long as they're not locked.

While most people started their fanfic journeys back in the somewhat olden days on sites like fanfiction.net, LiveJournal, Tumblr, or DeviantArt. This is how I started before I discovered fanfiction.net in the late 2000s, then Ao3 in the mid 2010s

My 11ish old self actually remembers these stories quite fondly.

Also any fanfic I read back in the day were mostly just Naruto.
