My god. You must be new around these parts. It’s been a year since Ive gotten a stupid question like this, please enlighten me why you think I use AI for my fanfictions?

It’s not like I haven’t proven time and time again that I don’t 😂 so humour me, what’s YOUR proof? The em dashes? The “not this, not that, but this” (which is normal to do btw)? What else could you say?

And also why don’t you get off anon and say it with your chest if you wanna launch stupid accusations that have already been proven wrong.

I’ve been outspoken about how anti AI I am, and I go to extreme lengths to avoid even touching that bullshit. AI has been ruining fandoms since it’s been created, but you know what else has been ruining fandoms? People who decide to launch unfounded accusations like this one. (Re: the heated rivalry fandom, and the Pitt fandom cause a lot of people have deleted their fics because of vitriolic rumour and comments like this one.). And if we actually want to get into the nitty gritty of things…AI HAS LEARNED FROM US WRITERS. They have stolen from US.

But I guess you don’t wanna have that conversation huh?

One of my best friends (who's on here btw so thank you Alex ilysm) just made me a bandana (picture below cuz it's amazing) and it has mikes heart and crown on it and I almost started crying. And in all of this it has really made me realize just how much I needed Mike and Will to even TALK about Will having a crush on Mike. Sure I would have loved for them to get together or maybe even have an on screen kiss but more importantly I needed Mike to realize that he was in fact in love with Will and more than just as a best friend. I’m definitely bisexual!mike truther because I do believe he loved Jane, he just loved Will more deeply. I would like to preface this by saying that I myself am bisexual but I think in some ways it makes all of this more important to me. There is very little bisexual representation in media that isn't used to advance some other agenda *cough cough vicki cough cough* or isn't riddled with blatant biphobia. So in my opinion, Mike as a bisexual character (with internalized homophobia as it were) had the chance to be very well done. Maybe all of this is just me projecting since I struggled with internalized homophobia/biphobia for a very long time (and still do unfortunately) mixed with the fact that Mike has been my favorite character since the show came out, but either way that bandana truly made me realize just how much I needed Mike to at least realize his feelings for Will and not just make them smaller for the sake of being "normal".

Little brain worm I had to get out inspired by this post.

One of my favorite concepts/headcanons (sort of) about married byler is the idea that even after mike and will start dating, mike can’t say I love you. But it’s not in the way that he couldn’t say I love you to Jane more in the way that he still doesn’t know if he’s allowed to love will.

As they grow in their relationship and there starts to be greater visibility for queer people he starts to say I love you back to will. (I also think that it’s important to note that I feel like mike would say I love you with his actions ie. “you didn’t say it” “you didn’t have to”). I also think that once they’re married and all that mike says it all the time like all the all the time because now he knows within himself that he’s allowed to say it.

no. calling media that centers queer romance “niche” is gaslighting with a smile. i received an ask that was downright vile and uncalled for. i’m not posting the ask because i will not entertain that or give them the pleasure they are solely looking for, but i will comment on something they said, and i’m damn right pissed.

popularity doesn’t equal normalization. yes, bridgerton and schitt’s creek reached huge audiences. that doesn’t magically erase the fact that queer stories are still treated as optional, exotic, or safe only when they’re palatable to straight viewers. a single gay subplot or a cameo lesbian is not the same as queer lives being allowed to exist as ordinary, ongoing narratives.

tokenism is not progress. when queer characters are used as marketing hooks, queerbaiting, or one off “diversity” checkboxes, that visibility is conditional and disposable. that’s not mainstreaming, it’s exploitation dressed up as inclusion.

people aren’t arguing over whether “mike stared at will’s lips” because they enjoy drama, they want narratives where queer desire is allowed to be explicit and sustained, not something fans have to decode. mocking that demand as petty or obsessive is cowardice masquerading as taste.

calling queer created work niche is actively harmful. it sidelines creators who actually live these stories and keeps funding, marketing, and power in the hands of gatekeepers who only greenlight queer content when it’s safe for straight audiences.

this isn’t about being picky, it’s about being equal. if you think policing which queer stories “count” is allyship, you’re doing the industry’s dirty work. i refuse to give vile asks oxygen, and i refuse to let lazy arguments that erase whole swathes of queer experiences slide.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve been noticing a lot of biphobia in the queer community lately, so much so that I’ve stopped referring to myself as bi. It really sucks because I’m starting to see more and more people (inside and outside of queer spaces) acting as if being bisexual is mutually exclusive to being queer. I don’t talk a lot about this here on tumblr but I just thought I’d bring it up and see if anyone else has noticed this too.

I’m fully convinced that Mike saying he and Will are best friends is his way of confessing. Hear me out.

Mike telling Will that they’re best friends is confirmation and acknowledgement that Will is closer to Mike than anyone else is, so much so that it doesn’t fall under the category of friend, it needs a special label.

Mike understands that the way he feels about Will is different than how he feels about his other friends. This is his way of telling Will he’s special, that their relationship is special. It’s acknowledgement to Will that he didn’t make it all up in his head.

It’s why, when Mike puts distance between them at the roller rink in California (arguably when he’s struggling to understand Will and El’s places in his life the most), he tells Will that El is his girlfriend and Will is his friend, and Will takes the word friend as the insult it was. It’s why, when Mike apologizes, he seems nervous to confirm that he still wants to be best friends. He still wants their relationship to be close and special and different. It’s why that scene feels so romantic, like they’re saying something different than the words themselves. The subtext in that scene is crazy.

That’s why Will looks so happy to hear it on the radio tower. He wasn’t upset, he was relieved. He thought, best case scenario, he could stay in Mike’s life as one of his friends. He thought he would lose their closeness because of his sexuality. Instead, Mike takes the time to reconfirm to him that this changes nothing between them. Their relationship, and Will, is still special.

I don’t think Mike fully understands his own feelings, he just knows Will belongs in a category all his own, and calling him his best friend is his way of saying “I see you differently, I feel you differently.”

It’s Mike confessing in the only way he knows how.

Mileven kiss scene queer subtext (El knows)

Ok, we all know how wrong THAT scene felt for both characters and how forced it seemed (despite there being intimacy coordinators).

Purple Rain by Prince is the key in my opinion, but not in the way most would think.

The song starts playing at the flashbacks of their past scenes.

(Ignoring how obvious it is that "you've seen me, the real me" and right after her being shown dressed up with a wig is so contradictory, let's not get into that right now).

I want to give focus to the lyrics here:

I never meant to cause you any sorrow I never meant to cause you any pain I only wanted one time to see you laughing I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain

This scene is in those flashbacks:

In my point of view this is Mike's message to El, he didn't want to hurt her, he just couldn't love her (like she wanted, romantically) despite him trying. I think El knows this, she realises right after in the original scene that he does love her in a platonic way, but of course that is not what she had hoped for and therefore her expression.

In S5 she has finally internalised it's not about her, but about Mike's sexuality. Accepting it is the reason she is able to understand Mike and smile at him here:

The next lyrics in the scene go:

It's such a shame our friendship had to end Purple rain, purple rain x3

"Wait, but those are not the full lyrics" is what I thought.

And that is where it gets interesting, as the song actually goes after the first part:

I only wanted to see you bathing in the purple rain I never wanted to be your weekend lover I only wanted to be some kind of friend, hey Baby, I could never steal you from another

It may be a reach, but I think this is El talking back to Mike. She didn't want to be just some "girlfriend" (his beard) but his actual friend, and the last line is a total reference to her knowing about his bond with Will and it being the reason they couldn't work out as a couple.

And after the song is cut off it actually goes:

I only wanted to see you underneath the purple rain Honey, I know, I know, I know times are changin' It's time we all reach out for something new, that means you too You say you want a leader, but you can't seem to make up your mind And I think you better close it and let me guide you to the purple rain

El continues to talk to Mike with these lyrics, she wants him to know she (in a way) allows him to be himself and go after what he truly wants deep down (Will).

Mike is called "The Heart" (Will calls him this while El is listening in S4EP8), but he doesn't act like it, not at all in all of S5. He lacks leadership because he is always indecisive between being himself and being what society expects from him.

Let me guide you. El and Mike have such a strong (platonic) bond, of course she would want him to find himself, and maybe in her mind that includes him losing her.

I know this is just an interpretation, but I really do think it could fit into perspective and personally I prefer to see it that way.
