"Boycott fatigue" what do you mean a boycott is literally where you DONT do something like how get fatigued from not buying mcdonalds
Being slow in life is fine. Taking longer to figure life out than others is not a bad thing. Lots of super successful people were late bloomers, who knows what amazing things you could accomplish once you heal more.
Filipino Ethnoastronomy 🌌🇵🇭
How did our ancestors see the stars? What did they associate them with? How did they use them to mark the changing of the seasons?
Two prominent stars were Orion and Pleiades. While, some Spanish terms for the stars, such as Tres Maria or Tatlong Maria, used to refer to Orions Belt, and Rosaryo, for Pleiades to refer to the rosary, are more commonly known today, our ancestors had native terms and beliefs in these stars.
They used the movement of the stars, sun, and moon to know when the seasons changed from the wet and dry season, to when to start planting or clearing the fields based on kaingin farming. They saw images of hunting traps, crabs, coconut trees, ripples or bubbles in the water, a weaving loom, and more.
⭐ One of the most well known astronomers & known as the father of Filipino Ethnoastronomy, was Dante Lacsamana Ambrosio.
He paved the way to relearning about how our ancestors saw the stars and did fieldwork to collecting names and beliefs of different stars throughout the Philippines. He made several articles talking about Filipino Ethnoastronomy and also published his book, Balatik: Katutubong Bituin ng mga Pilipino. He unfortunately passed away in 2011.
➡️What about you? Do you know any local names and beliefs of stars in your language or hometown that you’d like to share?

"I clung to your hands so that something human might exist in the chaos."
–Héléne Cixous, from "Oliver De Serres A Single Passion Two Witness, ”Love itself: In the Letter Box (Polity Press, 2008)
But I protect myself, I surround myself with books, their silence does not demand anything, they exist , they are alive , they are for anyone to open, unlike us human being.
–Bo Carpelan, tr. by David McDuff , from "Urwind". Published c. 1993
“I am a child with an old soul. I see magic in everything. But at the same time , everything tires me because I feel everything so very deeply.”

there was a distinct chill in the air today and i must say i’m thrilled about it, as i got to cozy up for tonight’s study session ☕️ midterms are coming up in a few weeks, so i’m trying my best to get on top of all the material while i still have room to breathe haha

desk setup!
College approaches and I spent time cleaning up my messy desk ✨

College tip: You have to make studying fun. And if not fun, then bearable. Don’t try to study at home if it’s just not working for you. Find a spot at a cafe or tea house, treat yourself to a nice drink and dedicate yourself to your work for a couple of hours. You’ll start to associate getting work done with being in that pleasant environment and enjoying a nice treat. The larger goal with this is that over time you can set your own “hours” where you’re going there consistently and you’ll find yourself getting a lot more done when you’re there because it’s your personal study spot. I highly encourage keeping a regular schedule, even on days when you don’t have much to do, because consistently will build the habit faster. It’s so crazy how fresh my brain feels when I just force myself to go to the tea house and open my laptop there on days when I have really bad brain fog
I think it's so important to have a "nature" calendar in your head, like a way of tracking time that's completely separate from anything work or obligation related, not holidays or anything stressful. For instance I look forward to august because at 8pm every night house finches hang around my window for a few weeks. In spring I love waiting for the magnolias to blossom. Just ways of tracking the time with zero stakes that's completely removed from life's zeitgeist and that you really look forward to
The Japanese traditional (old) calendar breaks the year up into 72 micro-seasons or kō each lasting just 3-4 days.
Each one is a tiny yearly event in the natural world, given its own little slot to be appreciated and celebrated.
Here’s just a few:
March 6–10 蟄虫啓戸 Hibernating insects surface March 11–15 桃始笑 First peach blossoms
July 12–16 蓮始開 First lotus blossoms July 17–22 鷹乃学習 Hawks learn to fly
October 18–22 蟋蟀在戸 Crickets chirp around the door
October 23–27 霜始降 First frost
I’ve always thought this was lovely, and I’d love to know what the micro seasons would look like for other countries.
