Damn. He hadn’t been as smooth as he thought. He sighed, dropping his shoulders and leaning against the wall. It felt a lot better to have something to lean on. Then he basically admitted he wasn’t human either. That wasn’t very subtle. So another mutant too then.
He relaxed but only a little. He felt like if he let himself relax fully he’d fall over. Again. That’d be inconvenient for both of them.
“So you’re a mutant too then? One of the good ones?” He clarified to the best of his ability once he got the words together in his head.
" SO YOU'RE A mutant too, then ? "
HE WAS GLAD that reveal went over well. He knew how some humans could be, so the fact that this was a fellow mutant brought a form of comfort to the vigilante, and his shoulders, too, seemed to slack a bit. He let out a soft little sigh, resting a hand on his hip.
" YEAH, I'M ONE a' da' good ones. My brotha's, wife an' I protect this city. We're all mutants. " He paused for a second, internally debating something. Part of him wanted to see if this was someone they knew, or one of the members of Cleo's mutant army she spoke so highly of. Though, in their psychic space, he could hear her mentioning she didn't recognize his voice, nor were any of the Rebels this short...so that ruled out that theory.
" ...WHAT KINDA MUTANT are you ? "
He sighed in relief that he confirmed he was one of the good once’s. He really didn’t want to fight anyone like this. Maybe he should’ve tried to go to Donnie instead of his shop.
The rest of what was said though… Protect this city? His family? And they're only just now meeting? That seemed impossible. He shifted a bit and the pounding worsened with the ringing in his ears from the movement. He held his breath a second until it subsided back to the level it had been at before.
“All… huh?” He took a second, trying to decipher the others question in his head. What kind? Couldn’t he… Right, right. His shop owner disguise. “Uh… turtle. An injured one.” He let out a breath as he rubbed his eyes a second.
