Something that evidence how the pronouns work in Spanish, is the difficulty of an Native-Spanish-Speaker with "It" in English.

In Spanish we don't have the pronoun "It"!

Every object and thing is classified in "He" or "She", (btw, the Spanish version of "They" It does not serve as a neutral gender), so usually it's strange to Spanish Speakers to use It for an Object instead of He or She.
