everything thatโs been happening for the past 6 months is due to the fact that no one expected Hudson to blow up and be the bigger star amongst the two of them
From the way everyone moved you can tell they only expected Connor to be the star of the show, whether itโs the way Jacob and Rachel would talk about the two, that set photographer only posting Connor, the way Connorโs team moved rebranding him as this classy artist thatโs private etc etc.
then well we saw how every move that Hudson was making was getting more attention and viral moments. For example his skincare video going viral, or his Milan week where you can tell that shocked Connorโs team and fans
and then I feel like the Oscarโs invite was the last straw for them because all this time it was supposed to be Connor whoโs the Oscar worthy actor while Hudson is the โjokeโ and the messy guy of the show for them. Where suddenly his fans were moving like an Oscar invite isnโt important enough ( and I feel like Connor himself was bitter about not receiving one too). Even during the afterparty you can see that Connor seemed a bit irritated that photographers just wanted pics of him and Hudson when heโs trying so hard to separate his stardom from Hudson
and Iโm not saying all that because Iโm a hater I actually loved Connor equally and I ignored a lot of red flags and then the past week was when it finally clicked
like I even tried to make excuses for everyone sharing that statement and him not doing and now looking back itโs insane he literally knew heโll always be unharmed and getaway with shit so itโs not his problem to address harassments his castmates and โsoulmateโ were facing
First of all, Iโm glad to hear the tsar stuff made things click for you. A lot of fans canโt even say that and itโs like, this really is the thing that should have done it for everybody.
But also I agree that so much resentment directed at Hudson is because he wasnโt โsupposedโ to be this successful, this in demand, this liked. I mean, people even got mad when he said he only wanted to do roles with well-written scripts, which to me is like, no fucking duh, wouldnโt any actor want that? But people acted like that made him entitled, like he should just be grateful he might get any roles at all, like the whole industry was just humoring his presence and he wasnโt appreciating the condescending favor enough.
And like, I do think a lot of this would have happened regardless, in some way, to some extent, because no matter what he would have been wasian and racism would have been affecting him. But the reason the response has been what it is, and to this extent, is because he just bucks every expectation, and every expectation of him was expected because heโs wasian. He was supposed to be less successful and less in demand and less liked than Connor. He was supposed to be living in Connorโs shadow. He was supposed to be quiet, and humble to a fault, and grateful to be there at all. He wasnโt supposed to be desirable, or a trend setter, or so fucking cool either. Heโs gone against all of that and I think a fair amount of people are indignant and resentful thinking โHow dare he?โ and โWho does he think he is?โ and underneath both of those thoughts, whether they realize it or not, โDoesnโt he know he isnโt white?โ
