idk if this counts as a ‘hot take’, but more something that has arguments on both sides: dungeon meshi doesn’t depict cannibalism. The only time the humans eat another (part) human is at the very end of the comic, and they are in fact so careful not to eat any human part of Falin that when she’s revived, she still has feathers.

WAIT PEOPLE THINK IT DEPICTS CANNIBALISM?!? It’s like so obvious they don’t???? I agree with you full hardly here if that’s the case. They literally the other party members GO out of their way to make sure they NEVER and they never eat Human. Like it’s done and said MORE then once. But yeah even when they do they don’t even eat the human part….

Not to be that person, but as someone who has watched, read, and has a story with themes of cannibalism cause of horror stuff and metaphors. Dungeon Meshi is very VERY far from this.

Now are there cool symbolism and metaphors behind the idea of them eating? Yes obsoletely- is it cannibal related? No I’m sorry. I get the vibe people missed the many times chilchuck himself is the one to remind/mention not to eat humans. Only time I can think of this happening is senshi backstory but- imo when reading it how it was done did confused me a lot, it’s confirmed I’m pretty sure he doesn’t. This is the only time cannibalism is close to actually happening

hot take (pls be nice to me) I’ve become very neutral on marcille/falin. I used to like it more, but fans of the ship have gotten so aggressive about it being ‘canon’ and ‘the driving force of the whole story’ to the point that people who get into the manga expect it to be canon and get disappointed when it isn’t. Yes Marcille cares deeply for Falin, but as a bi girl (i.e. one who is into women), she doesn’t do anything for Falin that I wouldn’t do for my closest friends. Yes including the necromancy and the bath scene. I think folks see the bath scene as ~so yuri~ because they don’t realize that the manga is Japanese, and that bathing together is rarely a sexy thing even when co-ed (I mean just look at the sauna scene). Public baths are common. ((If you want to talk other hot takes i have more! i don’t have a lot of irl dungeon meshi fans to talk to about it. I love your art, btw!))

As someone who’s also gay, I’ve NEVER been into fandom culture especially shipping culture because of how it can get. I haven’t for a long time since I was younger when I use to do that as we all do in our middle school era haha

That being said I honestly see we’re your coming and agree. From as someone not a fandom or shipping in fandom spaces person as mentioned. I do say, I saw this coming sm. As in where people would enter being so disappointed when they find out their not exactly actually upfront canonly gay.

Like I do also love the ship, but it’s so obviously not canon in the way people think, it’s canon in the sense it’s literally the walking their gay but neither of them know it or are self aware and are just best friends. I saw a Twitter post that perfectly described it actually then I ever could. I now can’t find it for the life of me RIP.

[About It’s Just Business]

It’s just Business (or IJB for short) is a passion project that means very dearly to me that I’ve been working on for a long time now. Specifically, IJB is a series and the main series. It’ll side scroller, visual novel made in RPG (mv) maker game. That will (eventually) have seasons and episodic like chapters.

Overall to keep things vague and short, it’s a Syfi murder mystery with comedic elements that takes place in late 80’s to 90’s inspired setting!

[About Summer Long]

Summer Long is the only prequel game, and the current installment that I’m working for IJB. I’ll be posting about this the most on this blog.

It takes place in a smaller town far from the city, deep down in the swamps. The events of this game take place before the main series, it will also provide a fun perspective going into the main series if you play this first. It follows a young man named Benny, a very close childhood friend of Cameron. In IJB you learn nothing about his past or story. This is because since the events that take place in this Summer Long, he (Benny) has long since been missing. The game follows the events leading up to that very moment.

This game will have less Syfi elements and more horror, with of course still a side of a fun murder and mystery. Instead of 80’s to 90’s feel it will have a very 70’s inspired vibe for its setting!

I won’t say anything much more about this story & plot since, as mentioned I’m currently working on this one!

Lastly the most important thing to keep in mind, this in the end of the day. Both the main series, and the prequel will have themes of murder in its story. They will also contain both blood, death, and sometimes violence.

Meaning, especially summer long, both will contain dark themes.

So… I cannot stress this enough, that this series as a whole, including the prequel, is intended for Mature Audiences only!

Here me out… I’ve made a prediction post supporting this. But I have a really big feeling that one of these days Callum’s accident won’t work out in his favor. Rather then having a good outcome with end in something far worse, like you know. Maybe accidentally freeing Aaravos?? 👀

I love this joke but with everything I’m realizing during this rewatch has me really rethinking shit. I’m telling you I really think this might happen

Hey I really need to share this because I’m rewatching the three first seasons of the dragon prince and. I think I have a theory. Prediction even.

So… ⚠️*WARNING, SPOILERS!*⚠️

I’m on episode 1 of season two as I type this and specific scene came up and it made me realize something… right off the bat, I have nothing to back this up but I heavily believe that the box Callum has from the start is the prison Aaravos is trapped in. Or is potentially the key to unlocking him or something on the lines of that. Now if this is true, playing with this idea/going off of this.

Through out the show from season one to now four we see certain symbols that represent all six “Primal Sources,” on the box glow! Now in first season last phew episodes, when the moon was full as the gang is heading up the mountain to save the dragon egg. The Primal Source rune for the moon was glowing! In season 2 episode one. Lujanne the moon elf who’s illusion mage tells Callum for example direct from this scene- the primal source for moon is strongest when the moon is full, and for the ocean when the tide is high. Now going back to season one as already mentioned same last two episodes, the symbol glowed when the moon was full.

That being said my theory/prediction is they need all six Primal Sources at their strongest at once near the box or at the box in order to activate it for whatever it does. And if this is the case, if it involves Aaravos, this would sort of make sense since, finding all six Primal Sources at their strongest at once in order to unlock something would be pretty tough. Also make this fyi would make it hard for someone to break free as their only escape from their prison. With things that happened with Callum in season 4 getting possessed by Aaravos, I have a bad feeling it might have something to do with that. Like an accident or something. Doesn’t help Callum is also throwing himself in his studies when it comes to magic…!!👀👀

I’ll add more as I rewatch everything by and eventually season 4 as well! But that’s all I have for now 👀👀…

This is my theory/prediction- and I’m sticking to it! 👏

UPDATE ADDITIONAL INFO TO NOTE!!

In the end of season 2 episode one, the same episode mentioned previously. The last scene with Callum going to bed with the box in his hand. He puts it near Bait and one of the runes glow (the sun), then the dragon prince and another diffrent/separate rune glow (the sky). So it’s not just objects but maybe things connected that posses these Primal Source abilities. Like the dragon prince and the sky Primal Source rune!
