All Podcast's I've Listened to

This isn't in any spefic order. I just started to keep track of them in my notes app after I had listened to about 30 and then later changed to a Spreadsheet so I could put more info for friends.

For spin offs/continuations if it could be listened to without knowing the base material I put it as another podcast. An "*" means I did not finish the podcast. Either it's one that I only listen to a couple episodes a month to make slow progress OR it's one that I just stopped cause it wasn't the time/vibe for me.

So I listened to Smartr. It was fucking amazing and wonderfully silly in all the ways I could see actual fucking things going wrong.

But I did one thing wrong that accidentally made the entire experience so much better.

I listened to the entire podcast backwards. Like started at the last episode and then listened to next last one etc.

This was completely accidental because I forgot that Spotify auto sorts podcasts by "newest first" and usually I see the numbers and go: oh wait! Or I start listening and go: wait fuck this isn't episode one!!

But Smartr worked so well to listen to backwards. You hear about things and the insane bullshit happening around them and then later (aka an earlier episode) you finally get some context. Honestly 10/10 would listen to backwards and maybe forwards again.

Oh also almost all the mid episode ad breaks I had to stop for a moment and figure out if it was part of the podcast poking fun at a company or an actual ad.

Speaking of framing devices, I like that Greater Boston went all out and used all of them. Voicemails, political speeches, tv interviews, letters, commercials, conversations, narration - it uses whatever fits the moment, almost like it’s assembling a collage, and it feels… I don’t know. Lived in? Layered. It’s an approach that fits for a story about a city and all the moving parts within that city’s community.

Good day today I told myself I would do another big catch up on Woe.begone while I cleaned my room. (Haven't listened since ep 178)

Instead I relistened to all of Aliza Schultz for probably the 6th or 8th time... Probably more for some of those episodes.

And then the second episode of the recap show.

Which I'm counting as basically catching up on Woe.begone.

My room is not cleaner because I got too caught up in Aliza and stared at the ceiling and old cards for way too long.

I think it's really funny that Faulkner is the main character I care the least about in The Silt Verses because I think it would make him so mad. Sorry babe I just don't think your carefully cultivated self-destructive life-encompassing narrative is as compelling as all the other stuff going on! Gonna kill me about it like you killed all those other people? Lol how original 🙄

Real talk though I think Faulkner is an extremely well-written character and his thematic role is obviously essential and excellent. Like I think his narrative contributions are some of my favorite parts of the show. But on a personal emotional level he's like wayy less important to me than Carpenter and Hayward and Paige which I enjoy. I would bully him with Carpenter and not even in a loving familial way just like "why is this kid expecting to be worshipped as god king he's literally lame :/"

And because Muslani writes bad time travel stories and doesn't even know how he got here.
