bunger king really did just make a ton of people advertise for them for free lol
they really said “if we make a post look inflammatory on purpose a gazillion people will screenshot it and post it everywhere” and they were right
the culture of “dunking on a stupid tweet thus letting it spread” is so ingrained into social media culture that companies are starting to take advantage of it
all publicity is good publicity but if i dunk on the tweet it’ll certainly get me some cool internet points and retweets so it’ll certainly be worth it right?
as much as i dont like it i understand why people screenshot and share stupid posts on various platforms, but this isn’t the usual case of some dipshit posting something wrong thinking he’s right. it’s a calculated effort by a marketing team to get the most amount of outreach for their ad with as little input and effort as possible.
headlines are written to be as annoying and rage inducing as possible so that people will share those around. anger is the best response to elicit because it keeps things in your mind longer than anything else. but when people eventually look up that tweet to see if its real because of how absurd it is, they’ll realize that’s not actually what they’re saying and they’re let off the hook. but that initial response is exactly what they want. and over time we will see this more and more and we should all try really hard to ignore it like we have every other attempt they’ve made to co-opt how we communicate to advertise to us
