There’s one guy in Columbus Ohio that has a completely unique strain of Covid that we only know about because of how much he is shitting and it is baffling researchers.
His identity is a mystery but they know where commutes to because his shits turn up there too.
Marc Johnson is a molecular virologist who studies COVID-19 in wastewater and who has been tracking what he calls a “cryptic lineage” of COV
Imagine going about your daily life blissfully unaware that there’s a research team dedicated to tracking you through your actual shit
this individual has been infected with the same covid strain for MINIMUM TWO YEARS
Edit: the linked article above is from 2023 and I can't find any recent updates on this. So Covids Georg remains at large ❗️
The lead researcher's bluesky has updates from as recently as two months ago. They still haven't identified the guy, but they did find out that 32 separate unique Ohio covid strands they were chasing were ALSO all this guy ‼️ So if you or someone you know fits the profile, and especially if you've been dealing with weird GI symptoms for ~4 years now, reach out to him!!
A little more specifically than "Ohio"
Be careful princess 🌸
I just love that multiple people not only though “the black one is a princess and those are her bodyguards” but also came to the conclusion “they’re also, obviously, samurai.”

I think it's funny that conservatives think everyone who hated Elon is now gonna love him suddenly and start buying Teslas when the reality is more like we're Merry and Pippin in Isengard high as fuck watching Grima Wormtounge stab Saruman in the back and then being skewered on a water wheel
Anthony Mackie: *Talks about raising his kids to be masculine which to him means respect, compassion, responsibility, protecting your family etc.*
Anthony Mackie: *Talks about how growing up in the 80s and 90s in the south you grow up misogynistic sexist and homophobic*
Anthony Mackie: My roommate was gay. I didn't know how to deal with that. My brother is gay. I didn't know how to deal with that. So being a MAN I used my art to better myself. I played Perry so that I could understand my brother better
Anthony Mackie:
A bunch of people online: He is clearly a homophobe alpha male type
___
Look. I get seeing a headline and taking it a certain way. I get the kneejerk reaction to not read what someone says in good faith. But Mackie has been pretty open about a lot of things in his life. So you can find out pretty quickly how he feels about things and that he is teaching his kids non toxic masculinity.
Alsooo, this is important: There are plenty of masculinities that exist both in spite of and outside of patriarchy. There are plenty of indigenous cultures where patriarchy simply didn't exist. A part of liberation for women and queer people involves redefining, uprooting and reshaping masculinity. Masculinity is not in itself corrosive and bad but it's the type of masculinity that is taught that is the problem. Patriarchal masculinity is specifically the problem! Masculinities like Mackie's should be embraced and nurtured.

A coworker of mine shared a story that she interviewed for a place, they asked her if she could become and animal, what would she be. She said dog, because they are loyal, friendly, and protect their family. The interviewer said that's wrong, because dogs are lazy. The correct answer was giraffe, because they reach high for leaves and that's a sign of ambition...
????????
i was at a coffee shop in some random town once waiting on my drink. i was the only person there until someone walked in and walked up to the register and they said something crazy like "don't fuck up my order this time, bitch" and i was sooooooo exhausted i stepped forward and i was just like [firm angry mom voice] "no. no. hey. you need to leave right now." and the barista and the customer both turned to me in abject shock and the barista started laughing and the customer looked horrified like they hadn't seen me when they came in and they said "i'm so sorry oh my god I work here. we're friends. i was just messing with them."
and i was like OH! that's a relief.
the barista was still laughing and they said "you were really about to fight for me. i love that." I said was in food service long enough that i'm always ready to fight a customer at any moment. i would have gone for blood. i would've used my teeth.
I once did the same to a older man "harassing" a young woman on a tube station escalator. He kept poking and touching her, when she'd look back, visibility annoyed, he'd feign innocence, she'd turn around again and he'd start up. So I, standing directly behind them, said in a loud voice befitting that of a 19th century governess, cutting through the stark silence of a Monday morning commute, said "excuse me, sir, do you know that woman?!"
He was her dad.
A few years ago, I had a super bad migraine that landed me in the hospital, and I ended up with huge ugly bruises on my arms bc I was so dehydrated from yacking that I kept blowing out IVs.
My wife, who at the time was in full pre-coming-out dude mode, is 6'8". I'm 5'6".
It was summer. A very hot summer.
For the next couple of weeks, I had friends and neighbors and even a couple of strangers trying to get an opportunity to talk to me away from her and ask me if I was okay. At one point, I saw someone eyeing my arms and her, and I just said, "I'm okay. I promise. I kept blowing out IVs in the hospital. I see your expression, and I promise you, she treats me like the center of the universe."
Both of us felt pretty good that this kept happening, to be clear. It's not good that someone thinks you could hurt your partner, no, but it's also good that lots of people didn't just assume I was fine, or look away.
i hate seeing people now making fun of those who care about privacy online. i've seen people saying things like "well they already have your data. what are companies going to do with it" and it's like, that's not the point. it's that companies /shouldn't/ be able to have my data and sell it. am i aware they probably already have my data? yes, absolutely. but i'm still going to try and keep them from monetizing it any further, why are we defending companies selling data they shouldn't have to begin with though?
adding this to the post because, 100%, just there's a fire doesn't mean you should pour gasoline on it
I have like ten different ad and/or tracking blockers on my PC and phone... just out of pure spite
Can link it? I wish to hop aboard that train.
@drunkenbartend
Firefox with build in tracker protection
Ublock Origin adblocker for Firefox
Adguard adblocker for firefox, for everything that gets past Ublock
Mullvad VPN, one of the most reliable, cheapest and safest VPNs at the moment
DuckDuckGo android app that blocks trackers for every app on your phone
DuckDuckGo for firefox for blocking trackers and the likes
SponsorBlock for firefox, skips the sponsor segments of youtube videos
Adaway Adblocker for android (works much better with root access but doesn't require it)
Is there any benefit to using multiple ad blockers at once? I honestly don't know, but I haven't seen a single ad on the internet in ages and I get to use this image:
The best part of this:
“Should I risk my life?”
Then, Slavically, “Yeah, I will do it for you.”
I hope she knows how much we all adore her
Who is this woman I must tell her that she has restored my awe for physics at the (my) age of 35 years in the span of one 2 minute video
Her name is Tatiana Erukhimova, and she works for Texas A&M University.
also i think this has been figured out at this point but the whole "i miss queerbaiting" convo is like... the part of queerbaiting that ruled was because the show was usually putting forward two dudes, those two dudes got to have character arcs and motivations and writing behind both of them. they could both be interesting individually. because neither of them were shunted into 'disposable romantic interest' for each other.
but if a gay couple on tv is now supposed to be there, writers can fall for the m/f trap of 'only one of these characters needs to be fleshed out, the other is just here to explicitly be the love interest and maybe die later' except now they can both be dudes. it's not that queerbaiting was inherently better it's that unfortunately people have always been bad at understanding what makes fictional romance compelling, which is 'who the fuck are these people in the first place and why should i care'
