ACEN 2017 (20 years of ACEN)
15 years of ACEN for me. Every year it gets bigger and I get busier for it. Our first year we did a day trip and saw everything we wanted and left happy.
By now we are pros at the convention game. Heading down early for panels and not letting it ruin your mood if you’re past the cut off for example. The dealer room was bigger than ever. I think as a side effect artist alley was tucked and pressed into a corner. It was tight be we got through!
The video games moved to a bigger area and that was great. Normally the line to play the imported games is so long I’ve not felt it worth the time. This year I tied out a good handful. Also they had more room for consoles so I took the time to rent a game as well.
The screening rooms were fine. Either we missed the memo on what the must see anime was or they were not as popular this time around. I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but live action bad horror movies were missing this year.
Our adventure ended with a Final Fantasy concert Sunday afternoon.
Best post
This is oddly satisfying.

Today at noon "Season of Change" will be on public display at the Harris Building (111 S. Division, Grand Rapids MI)
Kanzashi by Sakae
MOTHERFUCKING WHAT?!!! THESE ARE HAND FUCKING MADE!!! JESUS CHRIST ON A BIKE LOOK AT THIS INSANELY BEAUTIFUL SHIT
The talented Sakae’s source and blog in which she hosts her pictures
people would know it if some asshat hadn’t cropped/shopped out her watermarks in the corners of all her photos but I’m too sleepy to do much more than be annoyed at this point
I can’t read anything on that blog but I don’t have to because I can see the time and effort and drive that went in to making these. Sakae’s kanzashi are lovely.
hey swalestudio i found you a new person making things that you liiike
(also wtf people do not get rid of watermarks dammit gah)
But holly shit on a stick are they expensive last one sold for almost $1,600
"Many of my movies have strong female leads - brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart. They’ll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a savior. Any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man." - Hayao Miyazaki
Why do the Japanese Draw Themselves as White?
We were just discussing this at Disneyland.
Interesting points.
A) this would never be shown in the US
B) while I only understand about 1/2 of it.... I think I have a pretty good guess on the blanks and it is all the more reason for this to be shared,
Tuesday and Wednesday were exploring Paradise and geocaching
Sunday was a wash with severe rain storms. Monday was still cold and wet but made for great images between the raindrops
Saturday we wandered Baldwin then made the trip to Paradise
Friday night this little tree frog greeted us at the door in Baldwin
You're here
Chances are you probably were meaning for Swale's Photo Blog. I moved it to the SwaleStudio user name. Made more sense. This will be the more fangirlish side of me. The stuff probably not good for a "professional" blog and all ^_^
