i need some help characterizing shoto todoroki in my new multi-chapt fic im cooking in the oven right now.

y/n is a shy girl who cant hold a good conversation with someone she doesn't know, or trust. But she is stern and doesn't change her opinions often.

When she enrolls into U.A. and meets shoto, he dosent like her at all at first, or well, he dosent even know she exists. But after the U.S.J incident, when she used her quirk to defeat multiple villains, then he really starts to take an interest in her.

when he finally realizes that she has power matching his, how should he react? should he make her a rival and enemy? or be her friend and make her someone he can trust.

(im still debating making them a slowburn yet, or just make them friends.)

Lowkey Shoto has shown us how he’d act already, that was his initial dynamic when dealing with Deku. He was constantly mildly annoyed and bothered by his presence, but very curious.

But being that she’s also standoffish, it would probably be more of an unspoken rivalry. So he might think he’s actively showing interest in her but she’s reading it as him looking down on her or challenging her skills/intelligence.

I think bkg’s baby gets your eyes and your temperament and he’s so relieved. He doesn’t say a word about it, ever, but when his daughter is 6 years old and some twerp takes her toys on the playground and she only cries, doesn’t try to explode his face off when he picks her up to walk her home—bakugou is so relieved it makes him nauseous. Because he wanted that anger to die with him—because with all of the light and hope and good you brought into his life, he’d hoped that it be enough to ward off that venom that he still feels the remnants of in his veins.

When his baby drops her head on his shoulder, tuckered out, he feels pretty confident that it did.

Some things:

Being around Kaminari, especially after training, makes your hairs stand up. It’s like being around an electrically charged ballon, everything is staticy.

Kirishima’s skin ripples with his quirk of you scare him. It was a thing in the dorms for a while to jump out and scare him.

If you can SOMEHOW manage to make Uraraka upset, she’ll make you float and walk away. Have fun crawling around the ceiling for the next hour.

Bakugou is a polyglot, I’ve said this before. But his insults get REAL creative in other languages. He has insulted people, patiently waited for them to look up what he said, then laughed in their face when they finally confront him.

Yaoyarozu makes little knickknacks to actively work on her quirk while she’s walking around the dorms and she leaves them in random spots because she knows her classmates love stumbling upon them.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how people hear the shit that comes out of Aizawa's mouth and can't tell he's Horikoshi's mouthpiece.

He says that Izuku and Bakugou are the driving force behind 1A and encourage them to be better. And I- WHERE?

The only person Bakugou has ever inspired is Kirishima. If anything, Kirishima and Mina are the ones who inspire anyone else in the so-called BakuSquad.

Even Izuku, for all that I love him, has really only inspired Uraraka, Todoroki, Iida, Mineta, and Aoyama (kind of). Which is way more than Bakugou, but still isn't the "whole class."

The incessant need to push Izuku and Bakugou together throughout the narrative really, really irks me

The narrative and Aizawa (as Hori's favourite mouthpiece) pushing Izuku and Bakugou as the Twin Driving forces of 1A is simply laughable.

Aizawa is meant to be the "smart teacher" (although he really isn't) and this observation only serves to make him look delusional.

In that scene, Bakugou had Kirishima blindly following him and Kaminari following KIRISHIMA - not Bakugou.

Meanwhile, Izuku literally had the rest of the class, and we are meant to see him and Bakugou as equals... pfftt... OK, pull the other one, Hori 🤣😂🤣

Good point, I would say Izuku definitely inspires more of the class than anyone else, and if they aren't inspired by him, they trust him enough to defer to his judgement and be led by him. This is miles better than Bakugou.

Also while Kirishima is inspired by Bakugou's "manliness" he was also inspired by young Izuku's heroism saving Bkg from the sludge villian, if I remember rightly.

TLDR - Ironically, upon close inspection, Hori's (and by extension Aizawa's) attempt at pushing together Izuku and Bakugou here only makes Bakugou look worse since it highlights just how much Bakugou is lacking in comparison to Izuku.

i wonder if karou ever talks to kyoya about the stuff he can’t talk to hikaru about. Like how karou gets dysphoric about his body because it looks so much like hikaru’s body, and how he can’t tell which parts are hikaru’s and which parts are karou’s, and if any of him was ever really him. or is he just the reflection of hikaru and all of his interests, all of his self. is he just a duplicated version of this person, and does that extend to his body or his soul? when karou does something, feels something, and it feels wrong. is it because karou thinks its wrong, but hikaru’s body compels him to do it anyway? or is it because hikaru’s body is rejecting it, meaning it was really karou the whole time? How can he decipher what is him and what is not, when he is in this body that does not feel like his own?

i wonder if kyoya hears karou say these things. i wonder if it sticks with him. i wonder if he remembers it when he looks in the mirror and sees his father’s face staring back at him.

✧ first off, it was not easy to get to the point of dating. just because he’s so hyper focused on being a hero he definitely had to learn how to let somebody in his life, so y’all probably were in that talking stage for a hot minute before he finally asked you to be his 😭

✧ as a boyfriend though, bakugou’s very protective of you

✧ he always walk on the side closest to the street on the sidewalk, usually has a hand on the small of your back or on your hip, and insists he holds your hand while you cross the street

✧ never walk behind him. ever.

✧ it ends in him scolding you while grabbing you and shoving you in front or next to him

✧ he’s practically your bodyguard at this point, no one tries to approach you with bad intent when he’s with you
