Holy hell these last few weeks have been hell, I won't be updating the yellow king or anything for that matter, as my computer and phone broke at the same time and as it turns out neither can be fixed or even turned on to get the data off them. so I lost everything I've been working on for the past year. Social Media passwords family photos, work documents. My fan fics, stopmotion and toy photography, literally everything. And there's nothing I can do to get it back. So please for the love of God back up everything on your devices, before you lose everything like I did.

How to Write When You Don't Feel Like Yourself

There are going to be days (or weeks, or months) where you sit down to write and feel... disconnected. From your voice, from your characters, from your ideas. Like the person who used to write your stories just packed up and left.

They didn't. They're just tired. Here's how to keep writing anyway:

Lower the bar (Until it's on the floor) You are not here to write something brilliant. You are here to write something. A paragraph. A sentence. A single line of dialogue. Movement matters way more than quality.

Write around the story Don't force it. If you can't write the scene, try: ⋆ A character ramble / journal entry ⋆ A conversation that won't be included in the final draft ⋆ A list of things the character would never admit out loud ⋆ A messy summary of what should happen Engage with the story from a different angle.

Borrow a voice until yours comes back No, not with AI. Read something that feels close to what you want to write, or watch a scene that captures the tone, then write immediately after. Not to copy, to reignite your instincts.

Write the emotion, not the plot. What is your character feeling in this moment? What are they afraid of? What do they want but won't say? What's being kept from them? The emotion leads, the plot catches up later.

Stop trying to "feel like a writer" first. You don't write when you feel like a writer. You feel like a writer because you write.

You are still a writer, even on the days it feels distant. Especially then.

Hello again- I’ve got a question regarding this message I received on my Star Wars fic today. My gut is telling me this is generated by some kind of chat bot that scanned the chapter, but I know based on past posts I’ve seen that you’ve got more of a keen eye for this than I do. So I wanted to ask, what’s your verdict on the matter?

“would it be okay if I messaged you further” is a huge red flag.

bots will almost always ask to “discuss with you” mostly outside of ao3. so if you respond to them, my guess is that they will ask you to chat with them on discord, instagram or other platform. where they will then somehow try to convince you to commission them / give them money. and whatever service they promise, chances are that you won’t actually get it in return. or you’ll just get something ai-generated instead.

my guess, this is almost definitely a bot.

another advice from me, if at any point you suspect something you see online is a bot/scam, always assume that it is. go with what your instincts say.
