One tragic aspect of the Odyssey that I've never really seen handled by any adaptation is the link between Odysseus' marriage and the Trojan War itself.

When Helen was of age to be married, all the Lords of Greece came to seek her hand. This was an issue for her stepfather the King of Sparta who could only pick one husband and then would have to deal with the far greater number of angry rejected suitors.

One suitor was Odysseus, then a younger man. He quickly ascertained that he had no chance of marrying Helen. Ithaca was too poor for him to even bring any proper gifts, let alone a dowry. But he did catch the eye of the King's niece, one Penelope.

Now Penelope was still a bit out of Odysseus' league, but not so much as Helen was. So he makes a deal with the King of Sparta. Support my bid to marry Penelope, and I'll give you a solution to this suitors problem. The King agrees, so Odysseus suggests all the suitors swear an oath to defend Helen's marriage from anyone who might strike against it. They all, including Odysseus, so swear, and Helen is married to Menelaus. The King proves as good as his word, and Penelope is wed to Odysseus.

Of course this means that Odysseus has now bound himself to fight for Helen and Menelaus. After an attempt to feign madness he is forced to fulfill his duty.

So his own plan, to marry Penelope and stop a hoard of ravenous suitors, ends with him forced to defend his own marriage from a hoard of ravenous suitors.

every other week, my mom would make a giant pot of vegetable soup. she'd pack half of it in a tupperware and take it to her best friend's house. they both had three kids whose ages aligned. they'd lock us out of the house and go through each room, finding every piece of dirty laundry and then spend the afternoon keeping the washer and dryer running, folding and putting away each load while gossiping.

every alternate week, her best friend would come to our house with a tupperware full of chicken spaghetti. they'd stick us in front of a tv with a stack of disney vhs tapes and go through each room, finding every dirty dish, and then spend the afternoon at the kitchen sink, washing each dish by hand while gossiping.

it wasn't always soup and spaghetti and laundry and dishes. but it was almost always a meal and a chore. here is a night you don't have to cook dinner. here is a chore you can cross off your list. and here is a day you don't have to spend alone. because really food and friendship and a feeling of accomplishment are what we all need most.

I need suggestions, because I need a fan fic with basically the whole premise being that Danny, Percy, and Jason Todd look identical. Because imagine the shenanigans before they meet; both Jason and Danny get harassed during Percy’s manhunt, both Percy and Danny get accused of being some dead rich guy (Danny thinks someone found him out for a second). Maybe ghosts find Jason and Percy and they think they have to deal with it because that’s what they do.

Literally this could just be such a crack, chaotic, and confusing mess, and then they meet and all have the same humor because they came to terms with death from a young age.

And I don’t mean they look similar because they all have black hair with a white streak and blue eyes that tend to shift to green sometimes, but I mean their entire bone structure looks like separated triplets. Maybe they have a slightly different build, but that is the only way to tell them apart. Or we could go with Danny inherited his dad’s genes and is huge and beefy, Percy is more god than human so he is built like the Greek god his father is, and Jason has the muscle from the Lazarus pit. So they are all huge and all give off this slightly unsettling vibe, but like that’s how you tell them apart. Like Danny feels celestial, Percy feels holy or some shit, and Jason feels like he climbed out of hell.

Their relationship could be enemies, could be mistrust, could be thinking they have en evil doppelgänger or clone, or could immediately think they are triplets separated at birth / immediately like each other.

There is so much that you could do with this and I would probably read all it like romance (feels like selfcest). If anyone knows where I can find something like this or if anyone else likes it, please let me know, because I just need a little trifecta of fandoms. This has rooted into my brain, send help and maybe a fanfic

I really like stories where Danny has resentment against the Justice League because they didn't do anything to help Amity Park, but I think an AU where he's completely chill about it while they're very much not would be really funny.

Like, imagine that every major ghost attack happens exactly at the same time as world extinction events. Danny has a big fight, goes home, turns on the news and there it is, all hands on deck for major heroes because the universe is in peril.

At some point he just stops checking, he knows the drill, and besides he's handled it anyway. It's all good.

So it really comes as a shock when a hero independently finds out about the GIW and organises a JL intervention. They come to Amity Park and they really don't get why the local teenage hero gives them a thumbs up and tells not to worry, he can handle being dehumanised and hunted for experimentation.
