House of the Rising Sun [ Yes Man | Laura ]
It took a moment for Yes Man to see past his joy to realize what Laura was trying to get him to do, and he eagerly set the tray down with a clatter. He gladly showed her his hand, almost like he was more than happy to prove what he’d felt.
"You’re right! It’s not good! In fact, this really… Kind of hurts, actually, but don’t you see? That’s why it’s good! I can feel it!” He sounded exhilarated, holding his hand up to gaze at the angry red that bit at his artificial skin. His words came out at a hundred miles an hour, the android still quite caught up in the excitement of his discovery.
"I already knew I could feel touch, that I could smell and feel temperature. But this is completely different! It changes everything! I— I really can’t say how grateful I am for this. For everything!" He grinned breathlessly, looking at Laura with expectation on his face before it sort of fell. She looked confused and, Yes Man noted, concerned, and suddenly the android felt sheepish for not addressing it sooner.
He allowed her to take a look at his hand, rubbing the back of his neck a little nervously with the other.
"…I’m sorry I ruined your breakfast, Laura. I didn’t mean for you to have to fuss over me this morning instead of relaxing! I understand if you’d rather me to leave you to it instead. Really!"
"No, no, don't say that, I just..." her words got lost somewhere in the back of her throat as she watched his excitement. She wasn't even aware that her face had fallen or that her eyebrows had screwed up in worry, as they often did. For someone who liked to pretend they were a stoic badass, Laura sure was expressive.
But this really wasn't about her. Sometime while Yes Man had been chattering excitedly, her face had softened. Even she sometimes forgot that he still wasn't used to this body--or what it was really capable of. A small smile that she tried to hide tugged at the corner of her lips, and she quickly tried to wipe it away by pretending to scratch her cheek. Excitement like his was rather infectious--especially when it was something you didn't see often in the Mojave.
"It is pretty remarkable, I suppose..." she muttered quietly, before patting his arm, careful not to aggravate the burn any more than it had been. "At least it's not bad, right? We'll take care of it and still enjoy breakfast."

Assumption: NOBODY CAN SAY NO TO YES MAN
"Well, I mean...how could you? He's just got this air about him..."
House of the Rising Sun [ Yes Man | Laura ]
Yes Man shifted nervously, his artificial heart beating in his chest as he knew that the courier had to notice the burnt smell already. He was understandably nervous, really— it might have been just one meal, but Yes Man was aware of how important food was for humans. And wasn’t breakfast the most important meal of the day? Maybe he should have set the bar lower, to start off with. Maybe with lunch…
"Of course, Laura!" He assured, feeling like his smile might crack his face in half. "I’ve got everything under control here, trust me! You can just relax! I’ll be there in a jiffy, I promise.”
The android’s shoulders relaxed slightly as he watched Laura leave the room, but his huge smile waned slightly as he turned back to the pancakes. Yes Man hated not being good at something. Maybe he could cover up the ugliness of his food somehow, though… Maybe with powdered sugar or fruit. Yeah, that sounded like a plan!
Yes Man leaned up for the cabinets. He set his right hand on the flat surface for balance, and—
He yelped without even thinking about it, before yanking his hand away from the stove top. Even as he stared at his hand in shock, his thumb and palm throbbed and was an angry red. In fact, he thought that it was hurting even more, now. Like heated needles stabbing him slowly, maybe. And somehow, it made one of the most genuine smiles he’d ever worn in this body brighten his face.
Yes Man snatched up the tray on the counter, with the food and sarsaparilla he’d prepared for Laura, and nearly ran to meet her. He had almost forgot about the food he had put on her plate. A laugh bubbled out of him as he brushed past the curtain. He sounded absolutely ecstatic.
"Laura! Oh, Laura, you won’t believe what just happened to me! I burned myself! I’m hurt! My skin is red, and— and everything! Just wait until you see it!”
Laura, in the meantime, had turned her attention to the Penthouse's large windows, watching the morning sunlight filter over a groggy New Vegas while Yes Man cooked. There was something strangely endearing about the whole scene.
Hearing the yelp of pain, however, pulled her from her silent reverie. Her immediate thoughts were tinged with panic--had he hurt himself? How badly? Was there a reason to panic? She had started back towards the curtain, but before she could even get halfway across the room, Yes Man came in, looking happier than she'd ever seen him before.
The confusion and worry must have been evident on her face, because her brows began to hurt from being knit together so tightly. It wasn't like she wasn't happy to see him happy--but it was odd, given the sound he'd made...
When he started talking, she completely forgot about the food.
"You burned yourself?? That's--that's not good, Yes Man..." In an instant, she's trying to get him to set down the tray, so she can look at his hand.
(also--I apologize that I keep poofing. TF2 is a horrible horrible distraction for me But I'll be here more often from now on!! Promise!)
