As long as the kid doesn't starve, right?
Let's start here. I should be cleaning, but instead I am soaking in baby!! He is only going to be a munchkin for a very little while and my house will always need improvement! So the dishes, laundry, straightening and tub scrubbing are going to have to wait! The next two photos are in honor of my postpartum visit! Confused? Yeah, we'll keep reading maybe it'll make sense. No promises... I am seven weeks postpartum today and at yesterday's appointment my doc gave me the all clear for it's about everything. That being said! I am tired of being fat. I was tired of being fat before we even got pregnant and I think I'm going to do something about it. So here's where we start. I am 23 years old, 5'9.5" tall and weigh a whopping 267.3 lbs! And I'm okay with it mostly. In comparison to how much I weighed pregnant I'm doing pretty darn good for myself! My first goal is pre-Preto weight which is 256 but my ultimate goal is my "husband catching" weight π I weighed 215 when I met my husband so that is the ultimate goal! Anyway, we are starting with healthy snacks and breakfast. I rarely eat breakfast and that may have a lot to do with that awful number I mentioned earlier. I am also going to start walking as soon as the weather will allow. I downloaded a yoga app and as soon as I can get the time to clean my living room I will start that, too. So in short if you're trying to decide wether or not to follow me... Here's what you'll get if you do; Updates on my insane, messy and occasionally interesting stay at home mom life, to include photos of the worlds most handsome baby! Updates and photos on my fitness journey! Of course no fitness journey is complete without food pictures!!! And occasional comic relief. Most people don't think I'm funny so any humor you can glean here is all yours! K, thanks... Bye!
Say hello to my rough day. If Zadok is not being held he's screaming. It's not gas, a dirty diaper or hunger. He's not in pain or bored cause Lord knows I'm in his face even when he's not being held cause if I'm not he screams. Oh, what's that? Wait until he ally's asleep and ten put him down? Haha, you must not have children...! We managed to get groceries with the help of the carrier and I put only the refrigerated food away while he screamed cause I didn't have much choice. But that's it. I ate for the first time today at three pm ... Peed for the first time today around four. Those of you without children, please remember to use a condom..... I love my little man, he's my whole wide world and I wouldn't trade him for anything. Not even my old body back, which may I please add was pretty sexy. But today has been an insanely long and difficult day! He has peed on me every time I've changed him today, too. Anyway, long story short we are totally looking forward to daddy getting off work. Soon!
At a loss for words...
I can't sleep. You know, people always say that the good ones die young. Part of me always felt like that was just a way of justifying sadness and in a way it is. But last night a very dear friend and sister in faith was torn from us too soon. A tragic hit and run accident took Jamie from her loving husband and beautiful daughter yesterday. People also say that God will take you when your work here is done and He needs you at home. It's hard to fathom how He could need Jamie more than her husband and daughter do, more than her church family does... but the fact is that God doesn't make mistakes. It's in this moment that I need to cling to Christ rather than run or hide from him. My heart is broken, my belief shaken by tragedy. In this moment is when I am crying out "I believe, help my unbelief" to Jesus. And He hears me. I can take small comfort in the fact that we will see Jamie again. As a family in Christ we will rise to heavens gates one day and she will be waiting, alongside Christ to welcome us home as well. We were not personally close. I'm not going to pretend that I lost my best friend or that my life revolved around our friendship. But I will say that my church family has become as special to me as my biological family, if not more so. She was a sister and I could see the love of God radiate from her smile. Considering that the title of this post states that I'm lost for words I sure have said a lot, hmm? I guess I'm at a loss for spoken words. I've always been good at words on a page but incredibly awkward with what to say out loud. And I handle death awkwardly to begin with. I'm probably the only nut at a funeral cracking jokes. But that's beside the point. She left a little girl behind. It breaks my heart, as a mother, when I consider that my life is not my own. At any moment I could be called home and my sweet Zadok would be without the love of a mother. I weep for her little girl. I am not sad for Jamie! There is a party in heaven this morning, welcoming her into the loving arms of Christ! God is speaking to her, face to face! "Well done my good and faithful servant!" Her race has been won! She crossed the finish line directly into the arms of the Almighty Father! There is nothing sweeter than feeling the love of God through these facts. My unbelief comes in the form of sadness for Melanie. Gut wrenching, stomach souring, sleep ruining sadness. A deep ache that replaces every other feeling. As members of our local church we are called to come alongside our fellow members and live life with them, no matter how messy. I need help in knowing how to be the best "auntie" possible to little Melanie, and how to be the best sister possible for her father. Mostly through encouraging my husband to be a good brother. I've rambled on a bit. But that's all my brain can manage for today. If you pray, please join me in praying for Will and Melanie. Please also join us as a church family in prayer. None of us knows exactly what to do in this moment. Pray for wisdom for our pastors. Miguel and Tony as they lead their flock through this tragedy, the first of many we will face as a church. God knows what He is doing and His plan is ultimate. This is what I need to remember as we all work through this tragic loss of our beautiful Christian sister. Well, it's six o'clock now. I may as well just get up and do the dishes I never did last night. Jeremy and Zadok are both fast asleep. Jeremy had dealt with so much loss in his life it's almost routine for him. He doesn't outwardly appear to be as shaken as I am. But I know that once he processes he'll be having a pretty rough time, too.
I feel awesome today! Despite little man being one angry kid today! He's not wet, hungry or gassy... Obviously I'm cuddling him, he is spitting out his pacifier... for six weeks old this kid is mean! Also, six weeks postpartum... I was a six eighteen when I got my two pink lines and I really feel like I look awesome, so there. During the very small period of time that Zadok was asleep I cleaned the bathroom!!! Like swept the floor, cleaned the mirrors and toilet kind of clean!!! Like a boss.
Their full story is in the link, but as an overview! The Speights have been trying to adopt for years and they finally have the chance to bring home their little one THIS FRIDAY!!! If anyone feels led to give please do so! Otherwise, please just join them in prayer over finances and their family!
help me out!

How long does this sleep when the baby sleeps thing last? Can we make this a forever thing?
Good Monday Morning people of Tumblr. Little man says up and at 'em!!!
Just... Way too much...
So my weekend may not seem like a big deal to a lot of you, cause you know teenagers just do what they want these days with no regard for anyone else... Well, as I mentioned before we are the proud parents of a beautiful baby and the not so proud former guardians of a belligerent, disrespectful, untrustworthy teenage girl! I think I covered all of it... Friday night me and my lovely husband had a fantastic first date night! A few church friends babysat and I mean the teenager is seventeen she doesn't need to be constantly monitored, right? Wrong. We came home Friday night and something was just not right. She was in her room, being quiet, before eleven. Odd, especially since she's usually not eve. Home until eleven and doesn't go to bed until my husband gets up for work at five something. So we asked all of the appropriate questions. You feeling okay? How was your night? Why is your bedroom light off? (Also insanely not like her, she is the reason that we have to donate body parts every month for electric! Too much? You get the point). Finally, hubby asked if he could come in and talk to her. She freaked out about how messy her room was and that she didn't want to talk, she was tired. All those red flags aside, we let it go and went to bed. Jeremy got her out of bed when he went to work, he went into her room and nothing was there on the surface so he dropped it. About an hour after he left for work I heard her leave the house. That early in the morning on a Saturday there is no natural reason for her to be outside, especially when there was a recent ice storm and she hates cold... I peeked out the window for two reasons. The first being that I have a right to look out my window dang it and if that's an issue sue me. Secondly because I was really hoping I was wrong and I wouldn't see what I saw. I saw my responsible sister-in-law walking down the walk with none other than her boyfriend. I lost it. So needless to say, as this was not her first lie and she's seventeen and especially considering that she was brave enough to have a grown man that we don't really know in our house when I'm only a month post-op from a c-section with a newborn without my his and home, we kicked her out. She packed in an hour and we loaded up my husbands tiny Toyota and took her to her great aunts house and left her there. Too harsh? Let me give you a little background. This is the child who slams things around almost constantly because she's mad at the whole world for not a darn thing. Case in point, she dropped the couch because my husband told her if she was going to talk on the phone while we watched a movie it needed to be in her room. Dropped the couch. Three feet from my infant son. Which may seem like a distance, but to a brand new mom you may as well have dropped it on him if you were going to get that close. Anyway, the car ride took fourteen hours round trip and my husband was five hours late for work. But you know what? God will be glorified in this, and maybe she will never see it. Maybe she will never understand why it's important to be called out for your wrong doings.... But I can raise my son in a hostility free environment. And I can have my bedroom back! I can pee with the door open and walk around booty naked if I want to. And yes, I do want to. Point is, my husband made a difficult decision, the hardest he's ever had to make before. He recognized what a terrible thing had happened, that there was no remorse for it and that something had to give. I'm so proud of him for making the call he did and I'm proud because it'll hold her accountable for her actions. I hope one day she sees what the reason was for this. He didn't kick her out so I could pee with the door open and have a nursery... He kicked her out because letting her get away with it was enabling her to continue to make bad choices. Choices that she doesn't realize could so easily change the rest of her life negatively. We love her, but sometimes love is tough.
I've been dreading today. The baby goes off at four and Jeremy's alarm goes off at 5:15 which conveniently falls about twenty minutes after I finally drift off again. Valentine's Day has always been my favorite holiday and I was so sure that with a new baby, his work schedule (6 am-9:30pm) today and the way our finances were looking I just knew it would be a dreadful day! But I was oh so mistaken!! My honey bounded back into the house after I thought he'd left for work this morning with roses, chocolates and super sweet hand written notes about how much and why he loves me! All while I was in the middle of cleaning up a pretty impressive mess from a serious diaper. Dirty diaper in one hand and newborn sons feet in the other, trying not to get infant fences on his toes... I'm sure I looked all sorts of sexy! In case you don't know, it's really hard to change a diaper and cry at the same time!! I didn't even button the kids onesie, I dove into daddy's arms and just let the mess melt into the background for a second... Pure bliss! Single ladies, if he doesn't make you feel like a princess on a regular basis and go out of his way to show you his unwavering love for you, you may be in the wrong relationship! If he can make you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world at five am when you've just jumped out of bed to wrangle a newborn who doesn't want his bottle and hates having his butt wiped then you certainly found a keeper! Just please, make sure he's a keeper before you have his baby... Not after, that's a story for another day!!! Happy Valentine's Day!

Today's mantra...
This too shall pass. Since I left the hospital Iβve had a massive migraine! Massive to the point of dizziness and blurry vision. Considering that I have way too much to do and not enough time to do it as is, this is in no way acceptable! My husband, Jeremy, works as a manager at Waffle House. Therefore heβs gone quite a bit. Not a problem, Iβm a stay at home mom and I signed up for this! But, my head is killing me! Anyway, on the list of things to do today: return items to the library, pay rent, return/exchange items at Walmart, pick up Alyshaβs homework and make dinner. Itβs 2:00 ish and Iβve just gotten out of bed for the dayβ¦ Between the headache and the fussy baby, Iβm wiped! Maybe today will just be an unproductive day. A very unproductive day.
The start of something new...
I'm currently sitting in the parking lot of the worlds most ghetto beauty supply shop with my month old son. Don't judge me. Maybe a little background here would be helpful... Hi, my name is Cassie Lewis. I'm the 23 year old wife of a gorgeous black man and mother to the most beautiful mixed child on planet earth. We also have a stunningly gorgeous 17 year old girl to care for (my husbands sister)! That may actually be enough information to justify why I'm in this particular parking lot. This blog has one purpose and one purpose only, ventilation! Sometimes you have to air your brain out and this here is my cooling system! About two weeks ago my husband rolls over in bed and says to me "you should start a vlog" ... in all my free time? Even as I write this intro to my messy life I'm having to pause for a screaming little boy. Back to reality, the vlog idea was intriguing if only because it is ridiculous. I don't even know where my hair brush is at this point, and therefore cannot possibly look presentable enough to show myself on camera. Plus, don't they say the camera adds like twenty lbs? I'm one month postpartum, what do YOU think I would look like on camera...? In short, I'll stick to text until I'm sure an extra couple of pounds wouldn't make me look like a whale. It could be a while. So, the parking lot. Today is the day my husband and I are celebrating Valentine's Day! Yippee! I'm sure most of you (by most I mean the ones without kids) have this image or chocolates and flowers, followed by a romantic dinner and an all night love session. Bahahahahahahahahahahaha. Oh, I'm sorry... you were serious? Let me give you a reason to stay single and childless for as long as humanly possible! This morning started with a scream from our little boy... Followed by a fart and loud snoring from his father. Totally sexy, right!? Two blow out diapers and a shower (for the teenager, not me) later and everyone but me was ready to go. In the thirty seconds it took everyone else to get to the car I needed to change my clothes, fix my hair, deodorize and brush my teeth. Somehow, we managed to leave "on time"... The whole family got in the car, teenager included and we went to buy hair. A completely foreign concept to me... You grow hair, why do you need to buy it? Whatever, I'm getting off track. Point is, once we dropped her off at her hair appointment we got to do fun grown up stuff! With the exception of toting around a newborn we were freeeeeeee... Which actually means we ran errands. And ended with a romantic late lunch at Steak n Shake ... for those of you who don't know, it's a diner. And not exactly what we had in mind for romance. As for the all night lovin? It's currently 3:50 pm and I'm ready for bed... Also, can't have sex until your six week check up after a c-section and that's no fun... I know disclaimers usually come first BUT: Disclaimer: I love my husband, son and sister-in-law. Unconditionally! The things I say in my posts are partially for comic relief, because without comic relief I'd go insane and none of you would still be reading this.
