Hey guys!! I know it's SUPER early to ask, but I wanted to get started early. With Halloween coming up in a few months, I'm planning to host a fic-posting event for it this year. With all my other projects, I'm starting now to avoid falling behind when the time does come. So!! My question is this: out of these fandoms on the poll below, which one would you most like to see a Halloween event for? The other thing is, if you have any specific prompts or characters you'd like a Halloween fic for, you can let me know in the comments or in requests!! Oh, and all fics will be GN!!
Contains: Baxter route in step 3, angst if you squint, fluff.
Word Count: 1k
A/N: HIIII GUYS, sorry I vanished. I've been working A LOT on projects with original characters, and I didn't really have time to write anything for here. This probably isn't amazing, but I've been stuck on what to write for fanfic. Still hope you enjoy!! >_<
When Baxter Ward had left that summer, he took a piece of Y/n with him. Their simple summer fling and the harsh words he had left them with at the end cut a deep wound into their heart. He never so much as texted, nor did he respond to any of the messages they had left him.
Cove knew how much it hurt. He was their best friend after all. Every single smile they had to fake, every time someone would ask them how they were doing, Cove saw through every single lie. He did his very best to comfort them. Even agreeing to join them for a few fancy parties, the kind Cove never liked, just to see them smile.
When schools were back in session, Y/n went away for college. They had told Cove weeks in advance that they would. They claimed they needed to get away and spend some time thinking in a different place. The small town of Sunset Bird felt much different with them gone. Cove had never truly been alone here, not until now. He'd gotten so used to their presence without even realizing it. The pair texted and called almost daily, sure. But it wasn't the same.
Cove had only then realized it, after being apart for so long. He was in love with Y/n.
.·:¨¨ ≈☆≈ ¨¨:·.
The day of Scott and Jude's wedding was almost here. The planning had been going smoothly, besides, of course, the surprising identity of the wedding planner. Y/n had come to terms with the fact that they'd need to work together from the start. After the situation had been explained to the soon-to-be-married couple, Y/n had assured everyone that they would be just fine.
Though, in truth, it hurt to see him again.
Cove had been told over the phone about the situation. He was concerned, and reasonably so. When Cove had finally arrived at Scott and Jude's house, Y/n ran into his arms. It had been a couple of months since they had actually been together. There was a fuss for a while. Terry shouted excitedly that the gang was back together and that catching up was necessary.
The group of old friends chatted in the living room until sundown, swapping stories of how their lives had changed. Y/n sighed, smiling at the old friends as they chatted.
"I'm going to go get some fresh air." They spoke, standing from the couch and grabbing a zip-up hoodie off the coat rack.
"I'll come with you!" Cove shouted, louder than he meant to. He was filled with nerves, both from anxiety and excitement. The young couple gave each other a knowing glance and giggled.
Y/n sat crisscross on the sidewalk in front of the house, cold concrete touching the backs of their legs. Cove followed suit. The green-haired boy fidgeted with his hands, unsure of what to say.
"Excuse this, totally old person question, but did you get bigger? Maybe I'm just imagining things, but you look bigger." Y/n laughed at their own question. Cove smiled.
"Uh... Not sure. Maybe?" He giggled awkwardly.
"It's been way too long, Cove." Y/n's eyes fell on the light grey surface below them. They smiled, at nothing in particular.
"Yeah... it has." He replied. Cove stared at their smile; it seemed genuine, like they were finally happy, but there was a lingering sadness in their eyes that Cove could never miss.
"Y/n...?" Cove asked, though it came out more like a statement. "Are you really okay with this. With being here with him?"
Y/n sighed. Was this really okay?
Before they could speak, a tear, one they hadn't even noticed, had formed and fallen from their eye. They sucked in a breath, trying their best to keep their composure. Cove reacted without thinking, wrapping his arms around their shoulders.
"I just don't understand why it had to be now. When I was finally feeling better." Y/n hiccupped, trying to hold back the tears they had kept from falling for so long.
"Life has that horrible timing sometimes." Cove spoke, gently rubbing his hand across his companion's back. "I know how bad he hurt you, and you don't need to pretend to be okay for all of us." Cove pulled away, looking them straight in the eyes. Y/n's breathing slowed, and they wiped the tears from their cheeks.
"I'm such an idiot." Y/n laughed, looking back at the concrete. They pushed themselves up, standing above Cove, who tilted his head, slightly confused by what exactly they were doing.
"Terry and Miranda were joking about us earlier, you know." Y/n began. Cove stood alongside his childhood friend, listening intently. "About whether either one of us would finally confess to each other." Cove's eyes widened, and a blush spread across his cheeks.
"I brushed them off so casually, Cove." He stood silent, still unsure of where this conversation was going. "But... maybe they're right."
"Since you got here... the only thing I can think about is why the hell I even wasted time on a guy like Baxter." Cove held his breath, feeling a mix of emotions building up within him.
"When you were there the whole time." Y/n finished, smiling at the boy they had grown up with.
"Y/n..." Cove spoke with a hand over his mouth, sucking in a breath as tears began to fall from his eyes. Cove always was a crybaby, and Y/n was glad to see that he hadn't changed.
And that was something Y/n loved most about Cove.
He was always there, even when they'd left for college. They never drifted apart. Y/n grabbed his free hand, holding it with a soft grip.
"I don't know why I didn't realize sooner."
The air suddenly felt lighter around him, and his breathing felt shallow. Was this really finally happening?
A/N: GUYS, I LOVE COVE!! I can't believe it took me this long to write something for him. But it's here now!! Hope you like it. >_<
Step 2! Cove, who begs you to go surfing with him every day, promising that you'll do better this time, says, "You just need to practice more." And still laughs when you fall off your board.
Step 2! Cove, who keeps you at arm's length whenever you go out together, claiming he just wants to make sure you're safe. (Truthfully, he's just anxious being around so many people.)
Step 2! Cove, who is always there for you when you have issues with your friends from school. He hugs you tight while you cry from the stress of the drama. "Don't worry, Y/n, you'll always have me."
Step 2! Cove, who gets jealous when he hears you complimenting Derek for the first time, silently holds in his emotions, praying you don't like him. Though he'd never admit to it directly.
Step 2! Cove, who spoke to his dad about his feelings, which in the end he wished he hadn't. His father knowingly sighed and smiled at his son. "Cove, you're in love."
✰ ∵ ∴ ∵ ∴ 🌊 ∴ ∵ ∴ ∵ ✰
Step 3! Cove, who finds himself staring at you more often than he used to. He wonders to himself if you had always been so attractive, or why he was just now taking notice of it.
Step 3! Cove, who never liked Baxter from the start, found his forward flirting annoying, and was so happy when you rejected his offer to dance sometime, explaining that he was the only one you'd dance with.
Step 3! Cove, who was there for your first breakup. Comforting you every day until you finally get over your terrible ex. Cove never told you, because he felt it was impolite, but he thought your ex was a tool.
Step 3! Cove, who finally gains the courage to ask you out. His hands were sweaty and shaking, but when he heard the word yes come out of your mouth, he immediately started to cry.
Step 3! Cove, who follows you around like a lost puppy, never knowing what to do with himself when you aren't there. It's gotten so bad that his dad and your parents pick on him when he has to say goodbye.

Cove Holden, who knows without a doubt that he will marry you someday. He truthfully can't imagine a future without you in his life.
Wait, you write for Detroit Become Human!?!?!! Omg can I request some head canons for Connor x male reader? I've been feeling awful about my body so let's get some comfort! The basic premise is Connor cuddling with reader for the first time and reader is stiff, not wanting Connor feel their shape. Connor comforts reader and they fall asleep in each other's arms. I love that awkward robo nerd 💜!
A little uncomfortable - Connor DBH
Connor DBH x Male!Reader Headcanons
Contains: Male!Reader, Pet names, Body image comfort.
Word Count: 408
A/N: This is obviously Connor with empathy. AHHH, it's been so long since I've interacted with the DBH fandom, I MISSED this beautiful man. Hope you enjoy!! >_<
Connor would initially be delighted that his boyfriend agreed to cuddle with him; he knew it was common in romantic relationships. But you had never once initiated anything physical like that.
He had asked a few times before, but had always been shot down with whatever excuse you could come up with at the time. Obviously, being an android, Connor could tell you were lying. Though he never did pry, having already detected the stress his question brought up.
Connor wondered what might be keeping you from wanting this level of intimacy. Especially when humans normally sought it out. The few times he tried to ask, his boyfriend gave a quick "Guess I just don't feel like it." Which again was a lie.
Connor had told you before he knew when you were lying, so it was clear that you were aware of his knowledge. Which only made him question further why you would keep lying about it. Then again, humans were complicated.
When you lay down, and Connor wrapped his arms around your waist, you immediately tensed up, feeling all of the negative emotions and self-talk that had been repeating in your head come flooding back.
Connor instantly noticed your body stiffen. He carefully removed his arms and sat up, looking you over for any signs of what might be happening.
"Darling?" He asked in a soft tone. "Would you please tell me what's wrong?" He pleaded, giving you those usual unintentional puppy eyes.
After you finally caved and explained the situation, Connor sighed. This had been what was bothering you? Connor was well aware that humans often struggled with body image issues, and though he couldn't fully understand, he did want to help.
"You know I don't care about that, right? Darling, I will always think you're handsome no matter what." Which was true, Connor wasn't capable of finding his boyfriend unattractive. Though he did, at least as much as a machine can, truthfully find him attractive.
When you were comfortable, Connor gently wrapped his arms back around you. He made sure to take everything at your pace, being as understanding as he could. When you finally fell asleep, Connor felt relieved and grateful that you had finally trusted him that much.
Connor loves you no matter what, nothing, especially something like how your body looks, will ever change that. And now he'll do his best to tell you every day just how handsome you are.
Wait, AND you write for Our Life!?!?!? You gotta tell me your thoughts on the game and on the next game Our Life: Now and Forever!
YESS I LOVE OUR LIFE!!! Ok, so... as someone with over 50 hours on the game and every DLC, I think it's absolute perfection. Cove Holden is probably one of the only fictional characters that I will NEVER get over. I've played through the story more times than I can count, and I can say with complete certainty that it's my favorite visual novel OAT. Another thing.... BAXTER WARD. That evil little mf genuinely broke my heart when I did his route and pieced it back together with shitty craft glue. And do I hate him? NO! I love him with all my heart. I'm not even lying, I have a four-hour Spotify playlist about him... ANYWAY, as far as now and forever goes, I've only played a little bit!! But I'm really hoping it doesn't disappoint. I'm absolutely in love with Tamarack's design AND ofc im super excited to see Baxter.
Anyway, sorry about the yap sesh LOL just got excited. I'll get started on that Detroit: Become Human request right away!! Though I do need to look back into Connor's character a bit, it's been a WHILE since I've played the game, and I never get videos about it anymore... very sad.
A/N: I'm finally posting!! WOOOO!!! It's not very long, but I hope you like it.
Y/n was the type of girl boys would whisper to each other about. The kind who always rejected them when one finally gained the confidence to ask her out. She was untouchable, a first-year student at Shiratorizawa Academy. Her grandfather, Coach Washijo, insisted she join his prize team as a manager. He wanted nothing more than for her to follow in his footsteps, and she certainly had the mind for it.
Tsukishima Kei was... snarky, to say the least. An overconfident, calculated bastard. He hated prestigiousness with a passion. Y/n was treated like royalty; she was a symbol of everything Kei hated.
When the Shiratorizawa volleyball team came through the gym doors, Kei's eyes met hers. She simply stared, never looking to anyone else. He felt a hitch in his breath. She was much prettier in person.
The game felt as if it would drag on forever, but Kei was focused. Completely and utterly in control. All he had to do was stop Ushiwaka. And he did. He felt her gaze on him, watching with a careful tension. And when they had won, she shook Kiyoko's hand, thanking them for the game.
"Hey, blondie." Y/n called out to the Karasuno volleyball team. Tsukishima turned; she had obviously been talking to him.
"Yeah." He spoke, not questioning, more defensively.
"It was pretty amazing, you know? How you stopped Ushijima."
"Thank you?"
"Ushijima can't go to nationals because of you." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"I know that. What's your point?"
"I'm saying, you have serious talent. And I'm not going to let you win here only to give up later." He stayed quiet, slightly stunned by being addressed so directly.
"What makes you think-" He grew defensive. Kei didn't like being told what to do. But she didn't let him finish.
"I know what kind of player you are, Tsukishima Kei. I'm telling you to take this stupid little volleyball career as far as you can." She turned on her heel, stopping and looking over her shoulder at him.
"It would be a waste if you didn't." He stood still, silently watching as the girl disappeared down the hallway.
That night, Kei sat at his desk, headphones on, playing some song he was only half paying attention to. He felt strange. Why had she said those things to him? Volleyball was just a game, and she knew nothing about him, despite claiming to. Though the sad tone her voice held when she said those parting words confused him.
"A waste?" He questioned aloud to himself. Just because he did well in one game, she felt the need to call his lack of commitment a waste? Granted, she didn't know about it. Or... maybe she did? But then again, just how much could you really tell about a person from one game?
Contains: Fem!Reader, probably OOC Rin, Fluff, Mentions of kissing, L bomb.
A/N: Hi guys!! I finally was able to get part 2 ready to go!! I've also been working on a few other fics, so I should be posting more soon. Hope you enjoy! I'll link part one here for anyone who wants to read it.
Contains: Fem!Reader, probably OOC Rin, Slight mentions of harassment (pushy flirting from a drunk guy), slight angst (it's Rin, what do you expect), Mentions of Eita Otoya (oh so spooky)
A/N: Guys, I'm alive!! I'm trying to ease back into posting with something easy like this! Hope you like it!! I'm planning to dive into the romance in part 2.
Hi guys!! Just wanted to say sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues over the past month and haven't had the motivation to write, so please bear with me. I've been trying to get back into some of my fandoms so I can actually write with passion about the characters. I'll be trying to post again soon, though! Hope you all have a good day!! <3
A/N: Guys, school started kicking my butt again. I'm working on the fics I PROMISE T-T
Y/n didn’t fully know why she had agreed to this. Maybe because that oh so charming man was hard to say no to. Or maybe she wanted to see him, though she’d never admit that.
She got a text at 11:00 pm. A simple text that just reads “Can we talk?” The text was from none other than Leon S. Kennedy. A man she was once very involved with, and now she barely glanced at him in passing. In truth, she wasn’t even fully sure why things ended, despite it being her idea.
Leon was sweet and caring. A bit cocky, sure. But a good boyfriend nonetheless. She spent a while angry at herself for how things ended. He was so understanding, and she was just… angry. Maybe it was how kind he was being that made her upset. Or maybe it was that she felt she wasn’t good enough for him.
Leon never yelled. Never even pretended to be upset. He just… accepted her feelings.
Walking to this park felt almost impossible. She didn’t know if she could face him, not now. But she had to, for his sake. The dim, flickering streetlights did nothing to ease her worry. Every step she took made her body feel heavy. When the park came into view, she saw him. Sitting still, facing away from her on a park bench that overlooked the river.
She stood still. Trying her best not to turn and walk away before he noticed her. She took a step closer, her heel making a loud click against the concrete. Leon turned, and his eyes met hers.
"I wasn't sure you were gonna come." His dirty blonde hair loosely framed the shadows on his face. He looked so handsome. He always did.
"To be honest, I wasn't sure I would either." Y/n sighed, looking at the ground. It was silent for a moment, but broken by the sound of Leon's footsteps.
"Why don't we walk for a bit?" He asked, smiling at her. Y/n nodded, following as he walked toward the sidewalk.
Y/n wasn't sure what to say, so she said nothing.
"It's been a while. I've missed you, you know." He spoke softly, keeping his steps slow and evenly paced.
"I know." She sighed. This whole meeting felt like torture, like she was reliving all the guilt she felt that day she left. But she wouldn't run this time; she would stay next to him and listen to what he had to say.
"I keep thinking about that night, what I could've done differently."
"What?" Y/n turned to him, frustration on her face.
"You left, and I never knew why." Leon explained.
"Oh, Leon. You- It's not your fault." Y/n grabbed his hand, tears beginning to well up in her eyes.
"I just... gosh, I don't know what's wrong with me. You did nothing wrong, I promise." Leon put a hand on her cheek, turning her face upwards.
"Don't cry, Y/n. I didn't mean to make you upset by asking you to come here. I just wanted to see your face." Leon smiled at her, gently rubbing his thumb across her cheek. Y/n laughed as she wiped away her forming tears.
"You never change, do you?" She smiled.
"Is that good or bad?" Leon laughed.
"Because it's you, it's good."
"Hey, do you remember that night we watched that movie, and you spilled ice cream all over your shirt?" He asked. Y/n tilted her head in interest.
"Unfortunately, yes." She sighed. Leon opened a plastic grocery bag that Y/n had only just realized he was holding. He pulled out a copy of the movie from that night and a tub of Y/n's favorite ice cream.
"If you're willing, we could watch it again, for old times' sake. Maybe this time your ice cream will stay in the tub." Y/n thought for a moment, unsure of what to do. She knew he had good intentions, but she was still worried.
"Leon... I don't know."
"I'm sorry if this is too forward, but I want to try again, Y/n. I want to make us work this time. Think of tonight as a restart, a first date like nothing else ever happened." Y/n couldn't bring herself to say no. Leon was so infuriating, but she loved him.
And this time, she wouldn't let herself make the mistake of losing him.
"Ok, but only if I can have all the ice cream."
Leon laughed, "Of course, it's your favorite after all."
A/N: Sorry, this was posted so late guys. Today was so busy... T-T
Y/n's family has owned this bakery for many generations now. This small, woodsy town didn't see many new faces. So she had many regulars, though sometimes people passing through town would stop by.
Today was like always.
A few customers stopped by for a morning treat, a few people were on afternoon dates, and when it was almost closing time, a man Y/n had never seen before came through the door.
He was fairly tall and well-built. He had an intimidating aura about him, unlike most people in this cozy retirement town.
"Welcome in." Y/n greeted with a friendly smile. The man nodded to greet her before walking up to the counter, looking over the glass display case full of baked goods.
"Did you make all this fresh?" He asked, his voice was low and smooth.
"Yeah! Everything is baked fresh before we open." She explained. He looked up at her, then back down to the display case. His brown eyes felt soft. A total opposite of the rest of his appearance.
"I'll take one of the chocolate chip cookies and a coffee with one cream."
"Coming right up. Go ahead and find a seat, I'll bring it out to you."
He looked over the room, scanning it carefully. He ultimately decided to sit at a corner table, one with a window right by the chair. Some of the customers eyed him, not with judgment, but with caution. People like him didn't come around much.
Y/n prepped the coffee quickly, taking a cookie out of the glass case and placing it on a small plate. She grabbed both and walked to the table, carefully placing them down in front of him. He smiled at her and looked down at the dessert item, seeming satisfied.
"Please let me know if I can get you anything else." He nodded, taking a sip of his coffee as she walked away.
As sort of scary as the man was, she had to admit he was attractive. Very attractive. She took glances his way while she cleaned up the shop, preparing for closing. He stayed there right up until the last customer left, then walked back up to the counter Y/n was wiping down.
"Those cookies are good. This is a nice place." He started. Y/n looked up at him and smiled.
"I'm glad you like them. Would you like to take one to go? I'll probably have to throw them away anyway."
"If you're offering, sure." He said, pulling out his wallet once more.
"Oh, don't worry about that. It's on the house."
"Are you sure?" He tilted his head.
"Mhm, don't worry about it." She took another cookie out and put it into a to-go bag.
"You think you could show me the way to this town's motel?" He asked with a nervous smile.
"Oh! I'm sure I could. There's one pretty close to my house, and I normally walk that way, so I could take you." Y/n threw away the dirty paper towel and grabbed the shop's keys, heading to the door with the man following close behind."
The walk was quiet for a moment before the man spoke up.
"I never asked your name." He said, looking over to her.
"It's Y/n." It was only then that she realized she didn't know his either.
"What's yours?"
"Leon." He answered.
"What are you doing here, Leon? No offense, but you don't exactly fit in around this town." He laughed and looked down, watching his feet as he walked.
"I guess I just needed a change." It was a simple answer, but a fair one.
"Well, if you're looking for a fresh start, maybe a small town where everyone knows everyone isnt the best option." Y/n joked.
"Maybe you're right." He laughed. He came to a stop when he saw the large motel sign getting closer.
"Well, this is it. Maybe I'll see you around then, Leon?"
"Actually... I was hoping maybe I could get your number. I'll probably need a tour guide." He had a sly smile on his face that almost made Y/n think he was flirting with her.
"Smooth talker, huh? The towns are not that big, I'm sure you can sort it out yourself." She returned the flirtatious demeanor, crossing her hands over her chest.
"That's probably true. But maybe I want a pretty woman to show me around." Now she was sure he was flirting, and he wasn't awful at it.
"In that case, I guess I'd be willing to walk around town with you. You'd definitely ward off any creeps, so it would be a win-win." She pulled her phone out of her purse, still mildly shocked that a man this attractive was flirting with her.
Leon gave her his number. Y/n agreed to meet up with him in the morning and give him a full tour of the town.
That night, Y/n spent an hour picking out an outfit before she went to bed.
A/N: Gosh, I made him such a loser, but I lowkey love it.
RE2!Leon’s the type of guy to be awful at carnival games but be so utterly determined to win you a prize anyway.
“I promise I can make it.” Leon says after throwing the last ball at the goldfish bowl and missing. (This is the third time he’s paid.)
He’s so unlucky that the last ball loops around the edge only to slip off onto the floor. He genuinely looks like a kicked puppy by the end.
“Can I give it a go?” You ask with a sympathetic smile.
You ended up going home with a goldfish named Bubbles after you made the first ball you threw.
RE2!Leon’s the type of guy who would miss leaning against a doorway and fall flat on his face.
“I’m ok, but I think my ego is staying on the floor.” He grumbles, carefully standing up.
“Leon, your nose is bleeding.”
RE2!Leon’s the type of guy who would slip when you took him ice skating.
It was bad. I mean BAD. Little kids were laughing; it was that bad.
Leon was on the floor with his feet in front of him, slumped over and laughing. That had to have been one of the most dramatic ice skating falls of all time.
A/N: First day of Leon week, guys! This one's lowkey short, but I might post something else today.
"I'm not touching that." Y/n laughed while looking at her boyfriend with wide eyes.
"Aw, come on, babe, you're gonna hurt its feelings." Leon joked, making a dramatic frowny face.
"i dont think sea cucumbers have feelings, honey." Y/n took her hands out of the cold water of the touch pool. Maybe she would stick to just looking at the sea creatures.
"Can we go look at the sharks now?" Leon asked.
"Yeah, sure." Y/n rolled her sleeves back down and took his cold, wet hand in hers.
"You know, I didn't think stingrays were so smooth, sort of thought it would feel like sandpaper for some reason." Y/n giggled at his comment.
"What did you never go to the touch pools as a kid?" She asked.
"Nope, not once." Y/n stopped in her tracks, staring over at a large tank full of plants and different kinds of fish.
"Babe? Sharks are this way." Leon pointed to the tunnel that led to the shark tanks. Y/n didn't look away. She gripped his hand and started dragging him toward the large tank.
"We can look at sharks later! There's mermaids, Leon, MERMAIDS." Y/n was practically skipping with excitement as she pulled him along. He laughed, amused by her excitement. A small group of children and nearby parents were gathered around the large glass window of the tank. Y/n stood to the side, making sure to leave room for the children.
The mermaids in the tank were swimming with grace, with beautiful colors covering the silicone tails and decorated seashell bras. Y/n turned to her boyfriend behind her with a large smile.
"Aren't they beautiful? I wanted to see one of these shows since I was a kid, but the timing never really worked out." Leon smiled; it was the sort of grin that made it obvious he was hiding something. Leon was a lot of things, but a good liar wasn't exactly one of them.
"Wait... you knew, didn't you?" Y/n's accusatory tone made him crack instantly. He nervously giggled and looked at the floor, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I mean, you mentioned it a few times. Last month, when we saw that poster for the show, you were really excited, and then you ended up getting called into work, so… I finally found a time that worked, and I couldn't pass it up."
Y/n pulled him into a hug, keeping her head facing the large tank while Leon rested his on top of hers. A small girl, standing behind her mother's leg, watched the couple. Y/n waved when she noticed. The girl approached slowly, her mother watching with a kind smile. Crouching down to the girl's level, she spoke, her voice quiet from nerves.
"Um... are you one of those, too?" The young girl asked, pointing to the mermaids in the tank. Y/n tilted her head in confusion, not exactly sure what to say to that.
"Well, because you're very pretty, just like the mermaids miss." Leon smiled at the girl and interrupted Y/n before she could say anything.
"She is, isn't she? And yes, she is, you got to keep it a secret though, alright?" The young girl lit up with excitement at his answer. Y/n let out a satisfied hum, as if to confirm his answer.
"See Mommy! I told you they were real!!" The young girl exclaimed, running back to her mother.
"Maybe you should become a professional mermaid." Leon joked.
"If only I knew how to swim." Y/n said sarcastically, slumping her shoulders.
"Where to next, my merfolk queen? Sharks, perhaps?"

A/N: Thank you so much for the request thedumpsterbunny! Ive lowkey had thoughts about this exact dynamic with Sakura many times, but never got a full idea for a one-shot, so I'm super excited about this request!! Anyway, hope you enjoy! | SO sorry this took so long ive been SWAMPED with schoolwork T-T Also may sort of have an idea for a pt. 2 where Sakura actually confesses? Idk perhaps it will happen.
A lot had changed since Sakura left his old town.
The two of them had been friends since childhood, and Y/n was always there for him over the hard years of his youth.
They had supported him the whole way while he talked about his plan to become the top of Furin, even though in truth, they weren't even sure what exactly Furin was.
The old town the two-tone boy had left behind was stuck in its ways. Everyone always seemed to have something to say, especially to Sakura. Y/n was sure he would be happier somewhere else, which is why they didn't fight it when he made up his mind about leaving.
Though now, without him there, from Y/n's perspective, the town felt a little more dull. Most days that passed felt like a carbon copy of the last, but maybe that was just from how much they missed him. He wasn't completely gone, of course. They had still kept in touch over the phone. However, with Sakura's lack of technological skills, that wasn't very often. Sakura shared many stories about his new town, and about all the new... interesting people he had met there. But overall, he sounded happy.
He told stories of all the strong guys at his school, and how bofurin was nothing like he had first thought. He told them he was finally starting to make friends and feel a sense of community. Y/n was happy in a way, though a small feeling of sorrow still hung over their head. It was confusing. Sakura was finally happy, so why couldn't they feel the same?
When the opportunity finally came for Y/n to meet up with Sakura in his new town, meet all his friends, and finally get a look into their old friends' new life, they took it instantly.
They took a bit of extra care when preparing for the meet-up, picking out a nice outfit and fiddling with their hair for much longer than necessary. It had been so long, and they were finally gonna get to see him. Sakura had invited them to a picnic hosted on the roof of Furin; it would be the perfect chance to meet everyone.
The sun was high in the sky, beaming down on the concrete rooftop. Y/n stood at the doorway of the staircase, staring at the sight before them. The school's roof was like a garden, with greenery and planting beds everywhere. On a few lined-up benches near the middle of the roof, there were snacks of all kinds and a few coolers full of drinks on the floor.
Standing near the end of the tables was Sakura, surrounded by boys all wearing the same uniform as him. They seemed like a rowdy bunch, all talking and laughing. For just a moment, Y/n saw Sakura smile. A very unusual thing for him. They felt a tightness in their chest with an emotion they couldn't quite place. Was it happiness? Excitement to finally see him again? Or maybe guilt.
Sakura never really smiled in that old town.
"Haruka!" Y/n called out. The word felt foreign coming from their lips; it had felt like an eternity, though in truth it wasn't all that long.
"Y/n! You made it." Sakura said with a nervous expression. A pink tint started to grow on his cheeks, and he looked toward the floor. The boys around him stared in curiosity. One of them, with reddish-brown hair, approached them.
"You must be the friend Sakura talks so highly of. My name's Hayato Suo, it's nice to meet you, Y/n." Suo said with a kind grin, the sort of grin that had mischief hidden behind it.
When Sakura gained the confidence to talk face-to-face with his old friend, he went around introducing them to all his new ones. They certainly were an interesting bunch of boys, but they seemed kind at heart.
The hours passed quickly as the teens all chatted away. Soon, the sun would set. Y/n had snacked on a few of the offered foods over the hours and gotten to know some of Sakura's new friends. They were good people, and Sakura seemed to think so, too. He smiled more that afternoon than he ever did during their whole childhood.
Now, the two of them sat side by side on a bench near the edge of the roof, the rest of the boys over by the picnic tables playing some game that was most likely made up by Umemiya. Sakura had "discreetly" confessed that he wanted to catch up with just two of them, which received a bit of teasing from his friends.
Though now, sitting there together, both of them were quiet.
Y/n felt an air meloncholy. The day had gone well, though it would be over soon, and they would go back to being distant friends. That thought hurt like no other.
"Y/n." Sakura broke the silence.
"Yeah?" Y/n said without looking at him.
"You've been upset today. Why?" Sakura never really beat around the bush with them. Questions like this were common, and he always seemed to know when something was wrong. Y/n sighed.
"I guess... You just seem so happy. I'm sorry, Haruka, that I couldn't make you this happy before." Y/n confessed with a shaky voice.
Y/n felt a light pressure on their hand. Looking down, they realized that it was Sakura's hand on top of theirs. He was facing away from them, but Y/n could see a bit of red on his cheek. He was so easy to fluster, and Y/n loved that.
"Y-you don't need to apologize, Y/n." He mumbled out.
"That town was a hellscape, yeah. But... you made it bearable. Doubt I would've stayed as long as I did if you weren't there."
"What I mean is, you were the only good thing in that awful town." Sakura was now beet-red and facing the floor.
Y/n smiles and rests their head on his shoulder, making him jump before relaxing into the touch.
Leaving tonight would be bittersweet, but at least Sakura had told them how much they mattered to him. This wouldn't be goodbye forever, after all, Sakura would never allow this to be the last time they spoke.
He was in love with them, now, he was sure of that.
Guys i love him, he's so socially awkward (literally me)
