another suggestion: rolling average instead of streak. (or if you don't like calculating averages, "blot out the days you kept your goal on a calendar, and aim for more coverage".) it can help if you find a broken streak demotivating (which i do).

instead of "i had a streak of eleven and then i missed a day and now i have a streak of two", you get "i have a rolling average of 13/14". i think the endurance training idea would work well in combination with it, too
