OKAY SO. I am through S1 and holy cats did the intended order make a difference. For Parker's character arc, for Nate & Sophie's relationship arc, and for just the pacing of the whole god damn show. So I'm now shaking my old person fist at the sky for the offense.

When I was a kid (10/11), I wanted to be a gymnist so freaking bad. I begged and begged my mom and aunt to take me to the nearest gym and sign me up for classes. I did the math and calculated how much it would be a month, what extra tasks I could do to help pay it (even though I got paid by the same two people anyways), etc. Every single day in my private prayers I'd ask God to let me do gymnastics. In my 10/11 year old mind, that meant in a gym with other kids my age and coaches. While waiting for this prayer to come true, I got a yoga mat from TJmaxx and a leotard from Target and set up shop in my aunts living room. Day after day I'd pracice what I could find on youtube. I used a tree to do bars and the sofa for beam/floor/vault.

I only realized after turning twenty in these last few weeks that my prayer was answered. I have never stepped foot in a gym in my life, but I was given the space where I was at the time to do it. Even now, I flip at the beach with my friends and will stretch in our living space. I've lost some skills due to a move and growthspurt, but I'm slowly gaining them back. Every single step has been self-taught, but I've always been proud of myself for it, more proud then I would have been in a gym with guidence. Was it the easy route? No, not at all. But it was the best with what I've been given to work with.

Watching Parker run her con alone with just a server (s5ep8) is actually soooo satisfying. She's grown so much from the first episode where she goes in early since she "always works alone", in the earlier seasons where she can't grift, before Eliot taught her how to fight and when she still had no idea what Hardison was saying. Now, Sophie calls her "Little Bird", she called everyone on the team and they all trusted her to know what to do best, she masterminded a mastermind, built tech from scratch, improvised where needed with her hurt leg, still fought dispite it; the job had Nate complimenting her after all is said and done--and Parker was complimenting Amy every step of the way and encouraging her!!! Like, I enjoyed this episode my first watch but with the rewatch I think its my new fav.

Also, I think this is what erks me with Redemption. Here, we see Parker before shes the mastermind be able to explain and have someone with zero background do a con. We see her encorage Amy and explain what needs to be explained, lead her every step of the way and it works. She doesn't get weird about any part of it nor does she get annoyed when/if Amy messes up or doesn't do something exactly as Parker would have.

Then, in Redemption (from what little i've seen of it), she acts like Hardison's sister is too far out of the loop when it comes to cons, and she acts like the only reason Leverage has worked so far is because she's hired thiefs who already know what they're doing. They have her act like as good as she is, she can't teach someone if they don't already know it. Like she can only lead, not teach. When before she was mastermind she did!!! To someone who has even leas knowledge than Briana (i think thats her name?).

Fitz is the middle child, daddy did not love him more. Also, i'm pretty sure the jealousy went both ways, as in Fitz believed that Alvar was his fathers favorite and he strived to do more just to beat what Alvar did when he was that age.

I love getting unaccompanied minors (kids flying alone) who so clearly just. Don't want to be here lol. Sometimes I get to know a little of their story, like their parents are divorced, or a family member died and they're heading to the funeral, but usually they just don't want to talk about it and that's fine. But I always treat the flight like it's a challenge to make them smile. I offer them snacks and soda but that's never enough, that's whatever, they could get those from an airport vending machine. Chump change. So then I tell the worst jokes. Just the most embarrassing, kindergarten teacher, annoying dad jokes you can think of. And those always get a groan, or a "Seriously??" And that's my in! Now I can say "Why, what's your idea of a good joke? No, come on hotshot, make your best joke, let's see it." And they hem and they haw but of course they eventually tell me their very best joke because kids are little competitive comedy goldmines. And it's always super funny, so I laugh, and that's where they slip up. Because you know what you almost always do when your joke successfully makes someone laugh? You smile. And I'm like. Gotcha. Rookie move. Now you're going to end up having a good time in spite of yourself. I win.
