and it’s funnier if you realize that it was 100% ANAKIN’S IDEA because of course it was and obi-wan just went along with it despite the blatant attachment because of course he did

like lil snot nosed padawan anakin wanting to do a best friends forever ritual like a preteen messing around with a ouji board at a sleepover and obi-wan indulges him because he doesn’t know anakin dug up an ACTUAL force ritual from the archives instead of, like, a shitty livejournal page on the holonet because he knows anakin doesn’t have friends in the temple yet and he wants his padawan to feel secure

or even better newly-knighted anakin who is ALREADY extremely territorial about his master getting another padawan and won’t stop drunkenly weeping about it during his celebratory bar crawl so obi-wan (who is also soused because he thinks he’s no longer responsible for this overgrown manchild and is thus cutting loose in celebration instead of on a mission because he’s just that fed up) agrees to always be there for anakin as anakin is there for him or some such nonsense and anakin accidentally makes it into a binding cosmic pact because Chosen One

so on mustafar they’re just whaling on each other with their lightsabers set to the lowest sparring setting for, like, younglings (too bad anakin didn’t use that setting on THEM) and anakin just starts rage crying and obi-wan has to go sit down because he did NOT sign up for babysitting an emotionally unstable sith lord (”YES U DID MASTER U DID THIS TO ME–”) and the next 20 years are a ridiculous galaxy-spanning prank war that vader prioritizes over the ACTUAL star war

like obi-wan is this wise, awe-inspiring last samurai figure and vader is this TERRIFYING eldritch abomination of pain and rage and cruelty but the minute they see each other it’s like middle schoolers flipping each other off when the teacher can’t see them except they both 100% still go around killing people a lot

luke is like “well why the fuck can’t YOU kill him, ben” and yoda just starts cackling

uninstall adobe acrobat. it is malware. it has been malware. these aren't opinions: acrobat meets the definition of malware.

it installs a user-login-time "startup" executable that ignores any windows directives to disable it on startup. doing so only removes the even-more-malicious taskbar-icon-creating advertisement-notification-creating process. no matter what you do, the sleeper "updater" process starts when you log in, and runs perpetually

it sends & receives encrypted network traffic both periodically and non-periodically. both are bad, both are suspicious, and a program doing both is more suspicious than the sum of their parts. and to boot: acrobat will polymorphically edit its code after such network activity

this isn't new: it has always done this. now, it does not even do the thing it is meant to: provide a way to interact with documents, which is amongst the very first features computers were built to provide. you can merely open PDFs and read some of their content in the narrow space between the requests for adobe to give them your money, and interface for features you cannot use (because you don't) or do not, have not, and will not ever need

adobe and microsoft would very much like the user's cultural norms around computers to allow for advertisement built into the local software and even operating system itself. the web being 100% advertisements was not enough! sure enough, acrobat will hijack the windows notifications system thing to give you the 2026 equivalent of pop-ups

i don't really know enough about windows software equivalents, so i'll paypal $20 to the first person that reblogs this with a list of 3-5 PDF reader/editor/etc acrobat equivalents that meet the following criteria:

open source, locally-built executables must match checksum of prebuilt distributed executable

no paid features/premium version/subscription/whatever

not a toy hobby project thing, must be windows-users-proof

Signs of a heart attack are different for each gender yet we only really teach the male warning signs. Make sure you’re aware of both and spread it to as many other women as possible!

EVERY SINGLE TIME I HAVE TAKEN A CPR CLASS I have had to be that person who points out that the training videos ALWAYS frame the “male” symptoms as the default universal heart attack experience, while the “female” symptoms are framed as though they’re a deviation from the norm, rather than the primary symptom set that cis women experience. 

ALSO: I just showed this post to my roommate, who is an MD at a clinic that specializes in care for the LGBT community in the Baltimore area. I asked her  whether hormones were responsible for the difference in the “male/female” symptom arrays. I asked how that would apply to her trans patients (which, she treats a LOT of trans patients). She said, basically, that the longer you’ve taken testosterone the more likely you are to get the intense chest pressure and the arm pain, versus the upper back pressure and shortness of breath.

Obviously I am not a doctor myself, consult your own health care provider, etc.

Reblogging this comment because this is the FIRST TIME I’ve ever seen someone address what XYZ medical condition would look like in trans patients. Also this is partly why my great-grandma died: the (male) doctor dismissed her heart attack as basically indigestion, because she didn’t have the typical male symptoms.

The other thing that’s worth emphasizing here is that it’s “more likely” because it’s not 100% in either direction. In fact, it’s not 100% for cis people either. While these are the most common presentations by gender on average, some cis men get more stereotypically female heart attack symptoms, and some cis women get stereotypically male ones. I think it’s important that people be aware that actually, no matter what gender or sex you are, you need to know both. If you experience either of these symptom clusters, go to the hospital.
