Re: Angel vs Demon abilities
So I'm on Ep7 of Campaign 4 and something I would love to see is if as Wic and Tyranny level up, Wic ends up with more and more offensive/actively harmful powers and Tyranny ends up with more and more divination/healer abilities. Would also love if Wic developed healing/divination spells but used them in a fundamentally amoral way. Or, if Wic ended up conceptualizing all his more harmful or insidious spells in a religious light. Like, imagine Wic using Dominate Person but framing it as a priest converting someone to their religion.
Idk I'm just so excited to see how these fucked up characters develop similarly fucked up abilities. Also, if this wasn't clear, to see how these abilities explore the demon vs angel dichotomy Sam, Whitney, and Brennan seem to be exploring.
Also I'm looking at the DND list of sorcerer spells and what would you find the most narratively devastating for Wic to have?
Blade of Disaster
Sickening Radiance
Insect Plague
Mass Suggestion
Psychic Crush
Power Word: Pain
Mass Polymorph
Meteor Swarm
Also I've never played dnd before please don't come for me if one or more of these spells are like impossible for Wic to have because of some rule I don't know about.
listen, she deserves a comic, a saucy one where she'd shock bigots each chapter with her shenanigans
that's all thank you for coming to my ted talk or whatever

Worked a little bit more on this one
Can I talk a little bit about one deeply horrifying detail of what happened at the Palazzo Davinos this episode?
When Hal and Bolaire and Murray and Azune arrived after seeing the house go dark, there were no bodies. They had to ask that above the table, because their characters have no reason to know there should have been bodies. So many bodies. It makes a spectacularly creepy atmosphere, and then it kind of gets glanced over again because Occtis. But I just want to sit with it for a second.
There’s a couple of layers of horror here. The first is the obvious, that a bunch of necromancers just slaughtered an entire manor of people, and then an hour later there are no bodies. So, uh. Here’s hoping they were destroyed to cover up the crime, and not … well. Currently raw materials.
Second there is the covering up of the crime. House Tachonis just wiped out an entire vassal house, possibly the parent house as well, and there is no proof. Beyond Aranessa and Julien themselves, if they can manage to tell anyone without promptly getting killed for it. Tachonis can just wipe out a whole house, in the dark, in the quiet, and leave no one to know. Like. When you think of the threat House Tachonis poses. If you piss them off, they will kill you, kill your entire family, kill everyone you know, and nothing will stop them. No name, no blood, no force of arms, no level of personal importance. They will just kill you. And in the aftermath, they will wipe it away. And no one will ever know, not for sure. It’ll just be a story of the bogeymen who come for you in the darkness and the silence and wipe you away. Jesus fuck.
And then … In terms of Julien. I just.
We started this series at Thjazi Fang’s funeral. We got to see what funerals look like, what they’re supposed to look like. We got to sit with a family and their grief and the ripple effects of one person’s death on everyone around them for the whole first two episodes. That was what death was supposed to look like.
Thjazi Fang was a criminal who was executed by the state, and he still got to come home. He got to be carried into his brother’s home by someone who loved him, got to be laid out in state, bedecked with small treasures, surrounded by family and friends, mourned freely and openly. We got to sit with it, with the grief he inspired, with the love and resentment and anger and grief that comes out, naturally, at a funeral. Yes, he died a death he shouldn’t have died, but he still got to come home.
No one of House Davinos will get that dignity. No one who was in that house will ever come home. They will not get to be laid out for their families, to have small treasures laid around them, to have the people who loved them spend one last little bit of time with them, to grieve and to remember and to sit with them. No one’s going to get to eat cranberry rolls while trying to break up stupid fights at their funeral. No one will know. No one will get to look into their faces one last time to make it real, to get to look and see and understand that they’re gone.
Especially with the theme Azune hammered home this episode, mending and healing and remembrance. House Davinos will not get that. They weren’t just killed, they were erased. They do not get to be remembered, they do not get to be mourned. They were just wiped out. Leaving nothing but a dark, empty building behind, with no sign that there were ever people there, let alone that they were brutally murdered. Not just the lords, but the servants, the couriers, everyone.
I just. The contrast. Thjazi is still there in Hal’s house, lying in state, his family and treasures around him. And Julien had to basically loot his father’s mutilated body as he fled to have anything to remember him by.
So much happened this episode. We started it with a light spot of serial killing, passed through Occtis being butchered alive by his own brother, then the circle of death and the massacre of the house, before the episode ending on the horror of Occtis’ revelations from the afterlife. But in all of that, that one little detail hit me so hard. Hal and the others rush to the manor, knowing something is desperately wrong, and there’s nothing there. Nothing. No one.
House Davinos wasn’t killed. It was erased. Physically erased. There are no bodies. No one will ever get to bring any of them home.
at what point do we think the news of the death of Julien's father will have reached far enough that he's gong to show up somewhere and be greeted as Lord Davinos instead of Sir Julien, and how much do we think that is going to destroy him?

Just got to Azune's "I think I'm having fun," about saying in the city and PROFOUNDLY LOVE THAT THIS IS THE MOST SINISTER THING HE'S EVER SAID. MY FUNKY LITTLE LIAR.
#Is he referring to the high of making friends with a dragon?#Is he buzzed after finessing House Einfasen twice in the same 24 hours?#Is he saying what he thinks needs saying so Thimble doesn't worry after his earlier meltdown?#Is it all of the above?#Don't know! I’ve been catching up!
I’m getting emotional thinking about how Jester had dreamed of meeting her person and falling in love, exploring the world, and was so incredibly lonely - and then she met Fjord, and they travelled together and met so many others, and she would never be lonely again. And her and Fjord fell in love, and everything she read about romance doesn’t compare to actually being in love, and Fjord surpassed all her expectations. At the same time, Fjord is comfortable with himself, in love and has someone in love with him, a Captain and chosen champion of the Wildmother - things that little Fjord from the Driftwood Asylum Orphanage, who was abused, unloved, and a nobody expecting a boring life would have never imagined.
Jester dreamed of love and adventure, and Fjord never thought he would get love and adventure. And yet here they are.
Here’s the cast talking about a Fjorester wedding one shot at MCM Comic Con. Here’s a link to the full panel if you want to watch it.
Gather 'round as the Critical Role crew talks about the stories, the jokes, and the fun at MCM in London
Thinking about how this was the face Fjord made when he saw Jester walking towards him in the fog, covered in blood and deep gashes and shaking
And then how it quickly turned into terrified relief when she goes for a hug, saying “yeah yeah, come here, come here, come here”
Just hit his scene in the campaign and it converted me to the Fjorester agenda 🙌
Got to meet the Critical Role cast again at Florida Supercon last Saturday and was able to talk to Laura and Travis about how much I love Fjorester. I took the opportunity to ask each of them a question that I’ve had since campaign 2 ended. I asked Laura if there was a specific moment where Jester realized she was in love with Fjord and I asked Travis when did Fjord realize he had feelings for Jester.
This was Laura’s answer, “Jester didn’t know that she was in love with Fjord to her it was just a huge crush. She didn’t realize she was in love until they started dating.” She also said she couldn’t remember a specific moment since it was so long ago, which makes sense. So it was at some point between the can I kiss you and end of the campaign.
Travis barely had to think about it, he remembered immediately. Here’s his answer, “I think it was after all of the Avantika stuff. After Avantika came in and she betrayed him and Jester was still there and was like “I’m okay Fjord” Fjord was like oh no, I caught the feels.” So Jester sticking by him even after all the Avantika stuff is what made him realize what Jester meant to him.
