Finally figured out how to permanently disable google assistant on phone

Instead of being in settings its in the google app. Also, google, not chrome. Icon is a G, not the circle thing. Click on your pfp to open a menu

From there, go Settings > Gemini > Digital Assistants > Switch to Google Assistant. This disables Gemini, google's AI assistant, and switches you back to the old one. We aren't done yet.

Go back to Settings. From there, we go Settings > Google Assistant > scroll to find General > Google Assitant on/off > turn it off

They really tried their best to make it a pain, but you can eventually disable it. Holding the power button on your phone still pulls up a menu and asks you to turn it back on, but this is the least intrusive you can make it.

Applies to all non-apple phones afaik. For sure Samsungs and Pixels but idrk about others

i hate the way fat antagonists have their weight moralized and used as a metaphor for greed and corruption and i hate the way it's overcorrected into fat people being "soft squishy friend-shaped cupcakes who look like they give incredible hugs" and i long for the day we have nuanced, interesting, and complicated fat characters and most of all i long for the day people are normal about fatness

I hope we get more strongman characters. They are fun to think about since you get a healthy large layer of fat and then you have strong muscles underneath.

One of my favorites is a webcomic character with a humanoid chimera girlfriend who's about a foot taller.

Writing prompt 1 of the few dynamics I have not seen for the FiddleStan ship is 1 being female with the other being male.

There's so many options that can be silly, like accidentally temporarily being female, maybe both become female at different times.

Or maybe 1 becomes a trans woman. The gay ships are often cute/sweet/funny but I just feel that there's a section of creativity that's not being used for stories.

Heck, maybe 1 or both become female temporarily on purpose to have a bio kid or 2. Like they have 2 kids together, and they take turns on who's pregnant.

It could be funny, Stan is Ford's muscley sister and he asks her help, so mystery trio but fem Stan and she has a part time job with the lumber janes who are just about as strong as the jacks.

Ford is disturbed and annoyed because there are men hanging around and drooling over his sister with his friend and research assistant at the back of that crowd.

Ever think about Tate in a FiddleStan fic?

Like how he might take learning his father is bi and now dating the twin of the college friend who ended up breaking up his(Tate's) parents marriage and caused his dad to go insane for most of his life?

I had an image of Tate finding his dad snuggled up with Stan napping in a hammock. Fids has a light blanket wrapped around him to cushion his skinny body from the ropes and keep him warm enough since it's a cool after noon. Stan's a big guy who many think his body probably puts out heat like a furnis at times, so it's just slightly warm to him.

Probably to the point he decided to take up swimming to help him get stronger since that's an option that's right there, can be gentle on his body when it's calm and extra useful if he falls over.

Preportal Stan getting that illness? He'd likely die before he "burdens" any family.

Though Ford likely would have to force himself to get over himself and the grudge he's holding on

If Mabel got it family would rush to make sure she knows she's loved.

Post portal Stan... I can see it being similar to that one fic where Stan got cancer.

you know, I have this idea in my head about werecat, where Stan panics and denies the idea that he transforms into a cat on a full moon (or new moon, which seems even funnier). Inspired by the venus vampire trap, where it's a similar situation and everyone tries to convince Stan otherwise. How would the story turn out? Because the first thing you think of is big wolves, not a cute cat

Hmm. Well in the end its your story, so you get to chose the route it goes, but if you're asking for help I can spin up a few ideas.

Stan's a were-cat, but, much like some were-wolves, doesn't really remember the transformation or being a cat. In his mind he has a recurring dream where he's romping around the neighbor hood, has flashes of pouncing on mice, running through traffic, etc. He's a cat, so he doesn't leave behind a trail of rampant destruction like were-wolves.

Maybe Ford was tracking another were-wolf in the area, bumps into Stan, they have a terse arguement, all 'what are you doing here!' esc when Ford clocks that Stan's exhibiting all the trait of a were-wolf. Hairier, hungrier, irritated, aversion to silver, teeth slightly sharper, ears pointed, etc. Its right before the full moon, so Ford frantically drugs and locks Stan up before his brother goes on a rampage and kills people. Only for, halfway through the night, the actual were-wolf to show up and start rampaging. Ford gets dragged away to deal with it, cursing his foolishness about not realizing there were two wolves, and the fight leads to wherever he has Stan locked up. Door gets broken, everyone freaks because 'oh no! two were-wolves!' only for this giant (but still not huge) of a cat to burst out and absolutly start wailing on the wolf. Instant cat vs dog beef happening here. They manage to get the wolf neutralized, then stare at Stan-cat as he puffs up and starts rampaging. In cat style.

Which means he goes around and starts clawing up the furniture, breaking into cabinents to eat things cats arent supposed to, knocking things off shelves, trying to bite people then hissing at all the silver, and finally flopping at Fords feet and screaming at his brother to pet him >:( He demands snuggles!

Then Stan wakes up the next day, immediately gets mad about Ford drugging him? Wtf? and scoffs at all the allegations of were-catness. Were-cats aren't a thing? those are wolves, which also aren't real. Were-wolves that is, he knows wolves exist.

How it goes from there? No idea. Hope this helps!

Fic recs

@nostalgia4light​ requested some fanfic reccommendations, and I always love talking about stuff I enjoy, so here’s a list of Gravity Falls fic recs for anyone who’s interested. Some of these may be well known but I put them in just in case. And of course they’re pretty much mostly about Stan :p

Raising Stakes by MaryPSue is of course quite good. Vampire Stan is just as lovable as regular Stan.. 

by the skin of your teeth by apathetic_revenant is a good one that was completed recently. A bit dark, but not too dark. Just the right amount. 

Time Has Changed Me (And Left Me Full of Doubt) by asbelow has a bit of an odd choice of AU circumstances, a mix between single father Stan and reverse portal, but it’s after Ford brought him back and is with the 80′s period Stans. What I like about it is that Stan’s kid and his interactions with Ford are really well done. I’m not usually into kid fics, but this one works well. Unfortunately it hasn’t updated in quite a while so I don’t know if it will continue. 

Cellular Memory by Bgtea is a great one of course, I’ve re-read it quite a few times. 

Any fic by impish_nature is great, and there are a lot of them, spanning all sorts of topics and themes. 

Heart Beats and In the Shadow of Death (based on the JOML AU) by A_Zap are good. And the JOML AU is of course a classic AU. 

Fisherman’s Knot by scribefindegil is an obvious one, pretty much a staple fic for any Stan twins fan. It does update very very slowly, but imho it’s still pretty satisfying despite being unfinished because the first half of the story is quite self contained. 

A Tale Of Three Stans by Beleriandings is a really interesting one about Stan meeting another Ford from a different dimension who ends up in theirs by accident. 

Family Bonding by scribefindegil and thesnadger is about Stan and Mabel accidentally getting fused together. It’s great. 

Things You Can’t Take Back is also by thesnadger and it’s one of the first GF fics I ever read. There’s also “Pet Humans” which is another Joml AU fic. Thesnadger has quite a few good ones actually.

“ A Pound of Flesh by LogicalBookThief is one that I’m weirdly attached to, idk maybe it’s the atmosphere or something but I’m always surprised at how few notes it has cause I really enjoyed it.

the Mystery Nerds AU by babyblueavenger is a great series where Stan suffers from pneumonia when he arrives at Gravity falls and Ford, unable to send him away immediately, has to learn how to pull his head out of his ass. Has some pretty dark themes but Stan also gets a puppy so it evens out. The 5th installment was never finished sadly, but the other 4 have complete stories.

it can’t rain forever (we’re on to better weather) by A_Beautiful_Beast is a cute short one about Stan awkwardly trying to figure out how to ask for a hug from Ford, since it’s been 40 years and the one in the clearing didn’t count.

“Shots” by LogicalBookThief, I still get sad when I read the part where Stan first wakes up. This fic is where I got the idea for Abuelita being a nurse in my own fic.

Blind Faith by pinesinthewoods  - I mean I kind of have to rec this one after intober. The Blind Faith AU is an oldie but a goodie.

Better Kept Secret by BadonKaDank - Ford did some things on the other side of the portal that he’d rather Stan not know about. But Stan is very nosy and also maybe gets temporarily kidnapped.

I’m sure there are plenty that I missed, and I tried to (mostly) avoid incomplete ones. There are plenty of great fics out there for sure! Hopefully you guys can discover something new from this list.
