lectures are gonna start pretty soon for me, so i thought that i would compile some ways that help to motivate me to start studying! that first step of overcoming laziness and procrastination and JUST START can be really hard sometimes (at least it is for me hahaha) studying is often seen as a chore or something boring and that makes us not want to start, but hopefully these tips can help you! just one more thing though, what may work for me may not work for you, or what may work for you may not work for others, don’t force yourself to follow certain methods if you find it doesn’t help you at all or even slows you down, the important thing is to find what works best for you, everyone has different styles and methods!!
have a great day yall 💗💗
school mindset
essays: make each essay you write better than the last
small assignments: aim for 100s, expect 100s, get 100s
homework: pretend they’re assignments
homework that’s not graded: pretend! they’re! assignments!
tests: study for 100s, expect less
long term projects: act like it’s due in four days -even when it’s not- until you’re done with it
group projects: do not get angry
presentations: pretend you’re obama
disclaimer: this works for me, it may not work for everybody, do not push yourself too hard!!
3 Websites/Apps that every student needs.
Today’s post is all about websites that I use in my daily school routine for essays or generally for homework that might make your life a lot easier too.Let’s get on into it.
• Photomath: Photomath is actually an app where you can take a photo of a math equation and it can solve it for you BUT unlike some other apps that give straight up the answer it gives you the details of the solving procedure.I know that some of you might think that this is actually not good and I know that we’re supposed to do all the homework by ourselves but I sometimes use it when I’m just not in the mood to do Maths but still need to get all my school work done for the next day.
• Hemingway: So this a site that I’ve been really using lately when it comes to double-checking and correcting essays.I really like Word don’t get me wrong but after I finish a big essay I always make mistakes (e.x. some words might not be correctly written or might not “fit”) so I copy and paste the whole article or whatever it is there and it highlights the mistakes or anything that is not correctly done in my work.
• IXL: This is a website for maths practice problems that I told you in my previous post. There’s not much to explain, it provides you with all kinds of exercises for whatever you need and at least for me it has done wonders.
Hope everyone is having a productive day ✨

hottest language learning tip
write a diary
literally
just write a diary, it has helped me sooo much and i dare say it has been the most developing thing i’ve done while learning french, nothing else compares
1. you’re exposed to the language daily
2. you quickly see which words are missing from your vocabulary
3. you learn to write about the things you think about a lot
4. learning to actually think in your target language
5. having to look up words and when reading the entry back a couple of days later you can’t even remember which words you didn’t know
6. going back to the earlier entries and seeing all the mistakes and knowing how much better you’ve become
7. when you’ve been writing for a few months and your target language becomes a natural way for expressing yourself
8. when you’ve been writing for a few months and you start seeing the diary writing as a way of self-expression and stressrelief, and the language learning aspect becomes natural and secondary
9. filling out a whole book using only your target language and physically seeing how much you’ve accomplished
listen, the studyblr community can be a wonderful place - but there’s this emphasis on absolute perfection that really doesn’t help a lot of students dealing with other issues on top of their studies. here are five unconventional study tips that might not fit the studyblr aesthetic but have helped me get straight as whilst learning to live with mental health and family problems too!
1. don’t study whilst commuting
i walk to school, so posts about studying on the bus just aren’t helpful - i don’t have the option to do that! even if i’m taking the train somewhere, the last thing on my mind is studying. i’m thinking about my bed and how early it is and whether or not my coffee is cool enough to drink without burning myself yet. not all of us can start working the second we’re awake, and that’s okay!
instead: record your lessons and listen to them as you travel!
even if you’re not paying attention, you’ll remember more than you think! this is especially useful for languages - i recorded myself reading a few essays and listened to them as i walked, which made noticing grammatical errors so much easier!
2. don’t rewrite all your notes
i love the studyblr aesthetic as much as anyone, but i honestly don’t have the time to write out pages and pages of notes in the hope of gaining a few followers. of course it’s nice to have pretty-looking notes, but when you have a huge list of tasks to do, it can become a way of procrastinating work that’s actually needed for a grade.
instead: organise your class notes!
check the material you’ll study before the lesson! if you’re into the brush lettering aesthetic, write out or print titles off ahead of class so you can stick them on your page without having to waste valuable lesson time drawing them. plus, knowing what you’re going to study before you actually come to it means you can prepare a list of questions to ask the teacher and improve your understanding of the subject! this way, you’ll have organised, clear notes from the beginning, so you won’t have to copy anything out at home.
3. don’t buy expensive stationery
i know everyone seems to have those tombow brush pens and leuchtturm journals. as someone who can’t afford them, trust me when i say i get how it feels. but spending money on expensive products (especially ones you don’t know how to use) is just counterproductive - your grades won’t magically go up if you start shopping at muji.
instead: try budget alternatives!
would you buy a £90 contour kit if you’d never used foundation before? the same goes for stationery! substitute for cheaper products from your local stationery stores whilst you get a feel for what’s helpful for you, not what anyone else has. for example, i tried so many types of pens before realising that my writing’s nicest with gel pens, so now i let myself get more expensive ones - but i didn’t waste more than £5 figuring this out because i’m #cheap. this list of popular studyblr dupes is constantly being added to if you really need to try something, but stressing about your stationery is not going to help you in the slightest.
4. don’t worry too much about being organised
look, we’d all like to be organised, but i’m an adult who’s lived with depression since i was thirteen, and i know it’s not always possible to have that pinterest-ready study den. sometimes your homework will be done on a bed that’s not been made in weeks of it’s going to be done at all, and that’s okay.
instead: do what you can.
had a bad day? stick on some guns n roses and do the work later. too exhausted to function? just finish that last maths problem and go to bed. it’s okay to not have a picture perfect lifestyle - most of the people who post those photos don’t have it either. just do what you have to do to get through the week.
5. don’t ignore your mental health
there’s such a weird culture of perfectionism here and it’s so damaging! of course no one has to post about their personal lives on their studyblrs - but please don’t let that lead you to believe it’s not important. this mentality of “everything is fine and i must be perfect” isn’t healthy.
instead: talk about how you feel!
it doesn’t have to be on your studyblr, but if you’re feeling suffocated by pressure to achieve, or you think you’re depressed, or you’re just going through a tough time and need to vent, talk to someone! bottling things up is not a healthy way to live life - believe me, i’ve tried it. it doesn’t work. there are so many impressionable young people here and we need to stop acting like our studies are all we can ever be.
i’m not trying to “call out” anyone who finds the minimalist note taking and study devotion helpful - everyone here is different, and i’m glad it works for you! but not all of us can do that, so this is for the people who can’t.

10.17.17 || 100 Days of Productivity (17/100) - It’s been a week since Fall break ended, and I miss it so much >.<
ok can we agree that the WORST feeling is when you’re just sitting around consciously procrastinating and you’re just overly aware that each second that passes is more time wasted and you like watch hours pass and you’re STILL procrastinating and you CANT STOP and your panicked brain is trapped inside a body that refuses to be productive and inside you’re screaming but outwardly you’re just eating chips
10.07.17 // uhh the morning after an all school sleepover im dead ;-; tbh i didn’t care much for how last week’s spread turned out (this week is better tho!)
ig: bionctes
the blank version of my weekly spread this week! i’ve already started using it but i’m just in love with how it turned out lol
results don’t define you
in my school, my friends and i have been getting back our results for our final exams and it has been pretty harsh, and i’ve seen so many of my dear friends shedding tears and feeling rather down and so i felt that it was really really impt to write this
YOUR RESULTS DON’T DEFINE YOU alright, yes, it is good to get good results and to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself, and it is definitely important to study hard and work hard for your tests and exams, BUT you are not labelled by the number that you see on your exam paper, you are not the grade you get. if you zoom out from that moment in your life when you receive your results, and see the grand scheme of things, that one mark seems way less significant that it seemed to be at first (please don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t mean it’s unimportant, just that we shouldn’t be too overly caught up over our marks, it may be important in our lives, but it isn’t our entire life) the grade you get for your test or exam isn’t who you are, it doesn’t determine who you are as a person, it doesn’t determine your worth, nor does it determine your relationships/friendships with the people around you. results can be an indication of our learning, how we are able to solve problems and answer questions or apply the knowledge you have acquired in class, and so we can use the results we get as a driving force to work harder, to spot our mistakes, and improve, and sometimes it can indicate that our study methods may not be as efficient for us, or we aren’t putting in as much effort as we should be, or that we may have misconceptions and so on. but sometimes our results can’t indicate all this, at times it could simply be because we weren’t feeling well on the day of the test. so while our results can be an indication of our progress, this may not apply in every situation, and so ultimately we need to remember that results are not who we are, and we need to be able to move on from it.
recently i got back some results that i am pretty disappointed with, and everytime i thought about it, it was like jabbing at a wound and made me feel really terrible but well, i guess i just gotta deal with it and move on from there and continue to work at it
so all the best everyone, have hope!! continue to press on, and don’t that number on your results sheet tear you down, but stay strong and remember that it isn’t the end!! sending loads of love 💕💗
types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize you’ve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if you’re feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you can’t seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. it’ll help bring you back.
if there’s something else going on in your life and you can’t get it off your mind: write down what’s going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. it’ll help you work things out.
if you’re just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll hit REM and you’ll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if there’s a crash course video online about it or draw out what you’re trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you won’t shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they won’t absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend who’s not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
1.10.17 // lit exam tmr !!!! honestly, lit is a subject that really means a lot to me and i really love a lot (as you can see my book literally fell apart bc of reading it so much haha) but then it ends up giving me quite a lot of pressure coz i really wanna do well in a subject that i love so much ( + my marks recently haven’t really been up to my expectations) but well i hope all goes well :-)
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Psalms 121 : 1 - 2
Ohh boy, I’ve done so much math this week, I’m lovinggg this subject 🙆🏻💕
